Your Theme Song

This assignment is worth 4 stars and it is an opportunity to create my own theme music. I went to SoundBible and got a couple of sound effects there. The rest I just picked up from other sites. The only thing about SoundBible is that it is hard to navigate in otherwise great source and have lots of choices. Enjoy my track and feel free to write a comment.

Your Theme Song

I related this assignment to my noir character, John Brown. This was worth 4 points, so it was kind of difficult to complete it.

I done this assignment with Logic Pro X, and tried to show his loneliness.

I put rain sound so it can give sadness and loneliness and closing door sound so he is coming back from his work. And then, I put clock sound so it shows that the house is really quit and no one is around.

John Brown does not hang out with people, so he comes home right after his works are done. He thought he is okay without any friends and family, but deep inside his mind, he is missing people and feel lonely when he is alone in his house. Loneliness is placed in his mind for long time, he cannot feel it or recognize it.

Lawrence’s Theme Song

For my second audio assignment this week I chose to create Your Theme Song (worth 4 stars).  This is the other assignment that I chose to dedicate to my character (total 6 stars towards character this week).  The assignment included having to create a theme song using instrumentals, sound effects, etc.  It was hard to choose a song for this because I hadn’t thought about what Lawrence might like.  I ended up going to Eminem’s “Not Afraid” because the song has a good beat to it and has that kind of bad-assy feel to it.  I added sound effects to the beginning and ending to make it more relatable to Lawrence.  I got those from a variety of sound effect websites.  It was not very hard to layer all of these together because I knew where I wanted the sound effects, it was just the act of placing them and lining them up so they fit right with the music.  I think it would be fun to do this assignment as a theme song for myself if I ever were to do it again (since that is the assignment) because I feel like I could create an awesome theme song for myself.  Anyways, here is Lawrence’s theme song!

Theme Song!

4 stars

I decided to do the audio assignment about a theme song. I dedicated this to my character dossier Sylvia. For the audio I compiled some noir jazz, wolf whistling to signify when Sylvia walks into the room, and the famous quote from Sandy in Grease “Tell me about it, Stud”! I hope you enjoy!

Theme Song

Probably the most difficult, I’ve never really given my theme song a lot of thought before. When something more appropriate comes to mind I’m sure I’ll change it.

Your Theme Song- 4 stars.

This assignment was to make your own theme song. I thought about using the opening to Angel of Death by Slayer and a choir singing, but then thought not. I found somethings that aren’t as aggressive to put together.

Theme Song

This assignment is worth 4 stars. I did not over lay anything, this is just the original track. I just felt that during this mission this is exactly what would be playing. I also knew that if this was real life it needs a song to help move the story along. It is a spy […]

Rawls’s Theme Song

For my first Rawls assignment for this week I did “Your Theme Song” (4 stars). I thought Bad Boys would be perfect for Rawls not only because he is police but because he may or may not like bad boys ;)

How I did it:

First I found the song that I wanted and then I changed it to MP3 using youtube-mp3.org. After I downloaded it, I opened Audacity and imported it into there. Then I just trimmed it to the part that I wanted and highlighted the end and went to Effects>Fade Out to make it fade out at the end so it didn’t just abruptly stop. Then I tried to upload it to SoundCloud but of course it wouldn’t let me because it is copyrighted. I didn’t know how else I could put it on the internet so that I could post it to my social media sites for Rawls so this is how I’m doing it. Not the most efficient way but it’s all I could think of.

Your Theme Song (Creating My Own Assignment)

Screen shot 2014-10-25 at 7.56.00 PM

I decided to create an Audio Assignment where DS106ers would create their own theme music. The instructions are below.

If you had the opportunity to create your own theme music, what would it sound like? Get creative and create your own sounds or select an instrumental from Youtube or any other source that represents you well. If you are going the youtube route, remember to use VidtoMp3. Once you have selected your background music, find some sounds/effects to incorporate into it using Audacity or other editing software. You can find free sounds at SoundBible. Once completed, upload to Soundcloud and share it with us.

My Example

I used all original sounds besides the shotgun blast. This track was composed in Logic in about 10-15 minutes. It sounds kinda creepy and dangerous (was not planned) kind of like a “Don’t F with me” theme. On a side note, this would not be my actual theme music, because I’m a real laid-back type of fellow (until you push the wrong buttons, haha).
