Splash The Color

Color splash is a technique to emphasize details- you remove all color from a photo, and then restore original color to a single object, e.g. a green apple on a table. Think of the Girl in the red dress from Schindler’s List.

You can do this in a number of ways with photo editing software or using mobile apps. The answer lies in the Google

Remix an Album Cover

_cokwr: Find an iconic album cover and remix it to represent a something different. It can be a play on the title, the image, the aesthetic, genre, etc. See the visual example featuring Snoop Dog and Dr Dre as Chronic Youth (a play on Sonic Youth's album cover Goo). , _cpzh4: Mashup, _cre1l: http://bavatuesdays.com/files/2011/11/chronic_youth.jpg, _chk2m: Jim Groom, _ciyn3: 211, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

Troll Quotes

_cokwr: Find an image of a well known figure, add to it a famous quote by someone related in some way to the figure in the image and then attribute the quote to a third, related figure. From the official site: How It Works 1) Get a picture of someone people idolize. Obi Wan Kenobi, Barack Obama, Captain Kirk — any beloved public figure will do. 2) Slap on a famous quotation from a similar character from a different book or movie. Pick something close enough that a non-fan might legitimately confuse them. If you’re using Captain Picard from Star Trek: The Next Generation, for example, you’ll probably want to grab a quote from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Babylon 5 or Battlestar Galactica. 3) Attribute the quotation to a third character, from yet a third universe. This way, nothing about your image is correct, and you’re trolling fans of all three characters at once. , _cpzh4: Visual, _cre1l: http://www.trollquotes.com/, _chk2m: Mikhail Gershovich, _ciyn3: 24, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

Messing with the MacGuffin

Wikipedia defines the MacGuffin as "a plot element that catches the viewers' attention or drives the plot of a work of fiction." For this assignment forever change the plot of a movie, tv show, etc. by changing a single line of dialogue. Put this new line of dialogue below a screen-cap of the moment in the movie you're changing. Credit to Tom Woodward for posting an example of this idea in the #ds106 Twitter stream.

Movie Trailer Mashup

_cokwr: Take your favorite movie trailer and mash it up with a different trailer to completely change the meaning of the original trailer. For example, if you have a funny movie trailer, give it the sound of a terrifying movie; or vice versa. You may need to clip the audio or the visual, use imovie and audacity to cut the clips to give you what you need. Good luck!, _cpzh4: Mashup, _cre1l: http://donuts56.wordpress.com/2011/04/17/mashup-finding-jaws/, _chk2m: duncandonuts56, _ciyn3: 125, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

Return to the Scene of the Crime

_cokwr: Take a photo from the past that you took in a particular location. Return to that stop, and take another picture, "framing" the original within the current view. , _cpzh4: Visual, _cre1l: http://dearphotograph.com/, _chk2m: Martha, _ciyn3: 141, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

Redub The Audio

Take a classic movie (or heck any movie you like), and rescript the audio of a key scene. You will want to re-write the lines to change the meaning or intent of the scene, delete the original audio, and record your own (this can be done many ways, voiceover in iMovie, recording the audio and editing the track in any other movie editor). For my example, I took Howard Beale's on camera rampage from "Network", and changed it to a diatribe on being bored in school., _cpzh4: Video, _cre1l: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZcMucXO7es, _chk2m: Alan Levine, _ciyn3: 131, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

Fan Fiction Picture

_cokwr: Take the name or title of your favorite band, song, movie, or tv show and display it in the form of photography. You can take as many pictures as you want, but have your photos capture the band, song, movie, or tv show you pick. Be creative and have fun!, _cpzh4: Fanfic, _cre1l: http://donuts56.wordpress.com/2011/04/28/fan-fiction-picture/, _chk2m: duncandonuts56, _ciyn3: 126, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:
