Radio7 Show Introduction Draft

For this audio assignment, I’m bending the rules a bit in the interests of the radio show project. How about a dark take on Audio Assignment 1745, “Good Morning Message to the Village? It’s still a message to a village, that is, our village in DS10,6 and a message of murder….

We need an intro for our show, and this is pretty straightforward. Since there are seven of us creating the show, the total time for the show needs to be between 35-49 minutes, so I wrote a one-minute introduction draft. It may need to be expanded or contracted, depending on how everything else balances out with commercials, bumpers, transitions and the actual story.

Our group also does not want to give away any of the details and they will be changing, so I cannot show you what I produced. It is locked up in our Google Docs vault, for only the Radio7 crew and Professor Bond to have Eyes On! What I can tell you is that I wrote a script that should bring the audience first into our group’s work and explain what we are doing, then bring them into the story and tell them what they will be experiencing, hopefully to tease them enough to stick around till the very end to find out “Who Done It?”

I recorded the intro/message on Audacity, then posted it to SoundCloud and put the link on our Google Docs site so the group has access to it. Once the story script is finished, then the intro can be edited and recorded with background music, then mixed into the master track.

Good Morning Message For The Village

“It is always such a wonderful thing to hear a bright cheery voice delivering the Good Morning Message in The Village. Why don’t you bring some joy to the day and to your fellow Residents by creating and recording a wonderful message of community and cheer. Share your audio via Soundcloud and tag it appropriately”

Now, here’s MY spin on this assignment. Tell me this isn’t the best way to wake up. This should SURELY wake anyone up, right? An entire village, even!

I started this assignment by thinking “what would REALLY wake up an entire village?”. Then, it came to me!

Sirens!

Yes, yes! Sirens will do! Now, what kind of music tends to have a lot of sirens?

Dembow!

Yes, yes! Dembow will do! Now, all I had to do was add a beautiful cheery Australian voice to the mix. Indeed, I was really excited to complete this assignment. I think it came out quite well, wouldn’t you agree? Instead of a normal “good morning”, you get a “GOOOOOOOOD MORRNINNG” type message. I’m proud of this one. I hope you are, too!

Good Morning ds106 Radio

2 Stars

I decided to change this assingment slightly so I could use it for our radio project. I used Bensound for my background noise and I used SoundBites for my alarm and rooster sounds.

I’m really happy with how this turned out! Its a pretty uplifting intro/bumber. I originally wasn’t going to include the background music, but I eventually decided that it sounds better with it.

Radio Introduction

Because of the way we decided to split up our show, I was tasked with creating an introduction for our radio show; Sweet n Sour. I decided to follow the guidelines for the assignment Good Morning Message for the Village but changed it to fit our radio show.

To create the introduction, I recorded my voice with a greeting message. Then, using freesound, I looked for some sounds that would be fitting for the radio as well as our class theme. I found a sound that sounded like an introduction to a movie for a space movie or something, but I thought it sounded cool. I also found a sound clip of a superhero flying, which I incorporated into the intro to match the class theme. Last, I decided to use the laugh from Kelsey’s character Jester as a closing to the introduction.

To put everything together, I used Audacity and adjusted all of the sounds so they went together smoothly. I then got the intro approved by my group members before making it public on this blog post.

Good morning people of my village!!

Star: 2 1/2 stars

For this assignment we had to greet the people of our “village” with a good morning expression.  I chose to keep it calm and simple.  I chose this, because I don’t see a person being too excited about saying good morning on a loud speaker every day.  This would become quite repetitive and boring. This does remind me of when you are in grade school, and every morning they would turn the TV’s on, and have students do a good morning segment along with announcements for the day.  They were always excited to be on TV (as any kid would be), but they knew that everyone in the school would be watching.  This I feel would be the opposite in a town where you don’t have to be energetic, because I doubt half the people would be listening anyways…

  • Firstly, started a blank file on Audacity, and instead of importing an audio file, all I had to do was click the red button to record myself.

  • I then had to edit the audio to delete any long pauses I caused

  • Final step was to export audio into an mp3 file

“Good Morning Radio!”

For this assignment http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/good-morning-message-for-the-village/, it was rated 2 ½ stars. “Good Morning message for the Village” was to generate a cheerful good morning message to the “Village” or more specifically for your community (ds106). Since we could change up assignments to help in designing our radio show, I decided to change up the requirement. The new task I created was to create a “good Morning” intro for the radio show. I figured our radio show needed an opening so I decided to create one for our group to choose from and hopefully they decided to create one too so we could have options. I took the sounds from https://www.freesound.org/ and I decided to add another sound that I used for my first bumper and edit it all in Audacity.  Once I finish the intro I upload it to SoundCloud.  I had no clue what the other group mates wanted to say for our introduction so I just made up one as a filler so when we do decide I could go back and change it if I need to. Nonetheless I like how this turned out and I am hoping the rest of the group would like it too. So stay tuned, you may hear it in the near future!

Good Morning Message

This assignment was called good morning message for the village and it was worth 2.5 stars. All you had to do was create a nice message for the villagers to wake up to. I channeled my inner Wisconsinite again and made a little message about black bears being gone from the village finally:

Good Morning UMW!

OK! So this assignment, though somewhat easy, was out of my league. The audio assignment was to create a “bright and cheery” good morning message for your community. I am a slightly shy person, so public good morning messages to an entire community isn’t something I’d normally do…which is why I decided to give it a shot. I can’t lie, creating this made me feel super awkward and silly. I was home alone, sitting at my dining room table with only the noise of the dryer within earshot. Overall nearly complete silence and here I am trying extra hard to be super loud and cheerful. HAHA! Can you say AWKWARD !? While making this I was so self-conscious about my neighbors hearing me since my table is right by the entrance door, and also since it was the afternoon and not the morning. It took me about three or four tries to reach what I consider an acceptable good morning message. In between those tries I would randomly laugh because I just felt so weird talking to no one and everyone at the same time. Anyways I hope you guys enjoy this slightly (very) awkward good morning message! Maybe even try making your own!

Good Morning Message For The Village

Here is my morning message for the village. This assignment is from the assignment bank at http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/good-morning-message-for-the-village/.

I was partially inspired by Good Morning Vietnam for this.  I will admit from the start that I’m no Robin Williams. I made it fit the class theme of Horror and mentioned the Red Reaper in it.
