A Day In The Life Of Your Character

For this assignment, I got a little lost, but maybe ended up found again? I was trying to create an audio recording of the character I created for one of this week’s assignments. I wanted it to be the one I took from the archetype bank because I had already spent some time thinking about Erin and what she did in a day-to-day setting. I recorded my voice using audacity, I started to edit it so that it sounded different. And then it went all downhill. I think.

See, it went from sounding a tiny bit different to like an alien language in about three minutes. I got very frustrated and walked away from my computer because I didn’t know how to fix it and everything I tried made it get worse and worse. Then I played it for my roommate and she said it sounded so much like the Porgs from the new Star Wars movie and my opinion turned around. While yes, this character I created wasn’t speaking in English the way I wanted her to be, she was speaking in some alien language. With that in my head, I kept playing around with things until I got it to a point that I liked and I ran with it. I know it is obviously really hard to understand, there is a story there. I had Erin talk about her kids and what she does every day. She talks about going to the gym and getting ready for her day. I don’t know if this actually fills this assignment, but I had a really good time playing around with all of the cool and crazy things you can do with Audacity. I know I am going to need some time to get better about learning how to use Audacity for real things, but for now I am having a great time making my own little laien lanugages.

Saiph’s 24 Hour Day

Saiph’s 24 hour trip to America.

I started this 3 1/2 Star assignment first at http://freesounds.org and searched for sounds that would tell my story without vocals. I downloaded the files and then imported them into Audacity. After a bit of editing I was able to create a sound track that starts in Bahrain with a car door closing, the trip to the airport, airport departure sounds, the noise of the plane engines, airport arrival, car trip home, and the sound of dogs barking…Welcome Home Saiph!

I saved the project and then exported it to an MP3 file which I uploaded into soundcloud. I also uploaded a picture I had created of the flight track from Bahrain to Frankfurt, Germany.

Donnie Rejj: Mind Wipe Flash Back

This was sad. I figured that I had already established my character as a pretty rough individual so this was an attempt to humanize him and make him seem not so much like a serial killer bad guy and the conflicted protagonist I really was looking for and I feel that this starts the path to accomplish that. it’s not mushy or anything. As someone who’s left their family behind to serve this got to me and really hit me in the gut. I’ve got memories that I cherish and will never forget. The thought of those being erased is makes me sad and angry which is how I hope someone would feel for Donnie as they listen to this.

A Day in the Life of my Character

This assignment was also a little difficult.  I struggled with editing it to make it flow better.  This assignment also helped me understand my character much better.  This allows me to use him better in other assignments.

A Friendly Talk With The Sheriff Starring Mr. Crawlston

Pretty quick and easy, I created a short script and went through it. I tried my best to have different accents, but after several tapings I still realize that both characters sound similar. I took several sounds from freesound.org to help fill it out more and mixed them together via audacity.

It

s a short story of Mr Crawlston being detained by the sheriff because of the many suspicious townsfolk, while being interrogated, Mr. Crawlston mysteriously frees himself and manages to play a trick on the sheriff without even noticing, and leaves the sheriff’s office with the mystery still in the air

Shot’s life

For this assignment my character Sally “Shot” talks about her daily life and what she does. It’s nothing too fancy as she puts it. She talks about getting up and ready for work but not until the kids are in school since she works late into the night most nights. She talks about what she eats and what the jobs are when she heads to her saloon. She also seems pretty fun when the days are slow and if the weather is bad her and her staff get along well. She also talks about where she lives and briefly mentions her puppy dog. To get more information about Shot’s life give her day a listen down below!

This assignment was worth 2.5 stars.

A day in the life of Talie the cowgirl

I completed this audio assignment based on my western themed character. Earlier this semester we created a character that would fit into the western theme. As such, the character I created is a western cowgirl named Talie. You can read more about here here. But, for this assignment she walks you through her daily routine. To create this audio assignment I used audacity and the site Freesounds.org for sound effects.

To start off her day Talie wakes up to the roosters call and gets dressed and ready for the day. She eats a quick breakfast of cereal and off she goes to do her daily jobs on the ranch. She took over her parents’ ranch when they decided to retire and move into town. Her brothers left and moved out of their little western town and into the city a few years back so she is in charge. But, Talie loves it on the ranch with the animals, fresh air, and wide open space. She first stops at the stables to take care of the horses and pick up her partner in crime, Smarty. Then she takes care of the rest of the animals, such as the chickens, pigs, and cows. Once she has that complete depending on the time of year she checks the crops and soil, making sure they are getting enough water and nutrients. Then she goes back and milks the cows. Once she has milked the cows she takes that milk and rides Smarty down into town to sell it to the store. While in town she greets and talks to all of the town residents and keeps her eyes peeled for any trouble that is brewing. After that she heads back home to the ranch to tend to the animals once more and put them away for the night (except for Smarty of course). Later in the evening she heads back down to town to pick up her money from the store and heads over to the town saloon to catch up with her friends. Then she rides Smarty home and gives her a special snack and then Talie heads off to bed to prepare for the next day.

This audio assignment was worth two and a half stars adding to this week’s 10 star audio assignment requirement.

A Day in the Life of your Character

Record a day in the life of your host character. Using your character’s voice and Audacity, explain what happens during their typical day. Where do they work, what do they eat, who do they live with? Try to make it at least one minute long.
