Hello Parody

For my first audio assignment this week, I chose to create a parody of a song. It was a pretty fun assignment to create. I got the idea to use this song from a video I had seen on Facebook a while ago. Another lady made an equestrian themed parody of this song. Adele’s ‘Hello’ Equestrian Parody was the name of the video. I did the first few verses of the song. The voice you hear is mine. How I created it was I found a free downloadable karaoke version of the song, then I sang the lyrics I created. I used Audacity to put all the pieces together. The hardest part was figuring out the lyrics. I laugh because it is so relatable to use Equestrians.

This assignment was worth 3 stars.

“Hello” or “Hangry”

The first of assignments I picked from the assignment bank was to make a parody of a verse of a song. I picked Adele’s song Hello. That one is pretty simple when I was considering a good parody. I am very hungry today, so I decided to make the verse coming from the new song Hangry. This assignment was worth 3 points.

Original verse:

Hello from the other side
I must have called a thousand times
To tell you I’m sorry for everything that I’ve done
But when I call you never seem to be home

My verse:

Hella pizza late at night, I keep saying just one more slice, and I feel so hangry — breakfast, dinner and lunch — and the ice cream truck is the only reason I run anymore

Just in case you couldn’t remember the tune, here is the original song!

Sammy Da Eagle

For this assignment I turned a Justin Bieber song in to a song about orientation. I love Justin Bieber and listen to him pretty much all the time, and I love UMW and being an orientation leader is super exciting, so I combined two things I really enjoy. I couldn’t think of a good picture for this parody, so I used one of me after jaw surgery. I always smile and giggle when I see this picture so I thought why not add it to the track. It’s kind of random, just like me.

So to create this I found a Baby karaoke track, luckily my high school graduation party was karaoke themed, and added that, then I recorded myself singing the lyrics I wrote. It was pretty fun to do. I tried to think of like important things that are emphasized to include. My favorite part is the ending about the residence hall doors closing at midnight. Students keys deactivate at midnight and if they get locked out they have to call campus police. I really wanted to include that in this.

Chicken Burnt

I recorded the parody I wrote and used Audacity to combine it with the background music from the original version of the song.

Music Parody

Pick a song you like and a verse in the song that you what to work with. Now rewrite the lyrics in this section to make a parody. The chorus might be the easiest. Be creative and have fun. The funnier the better!
