Sick Beat

This sound is a mash-up between a guitar and a flute. This mashup gives it a feel of tropical but also a medieval tavern. Something fun and interesting.

Sick Beat

This beat is sick as in it’s a little rough. I tried to incorporate a little 80’s jive to it. I used garage band and created my own melody and beat with the piano and drums and used an 80s sound of the internet. This turned out not as well as I hoped it would.

Sick Beat, Dude!

I have never made a beat before and it is quite hard, not gonna lie. After watching a couple YouTube tutorials on GarageBand beat-making, I decided to give it a shot.

I played around with drums, trumpets, and some piano notes to create a pretty fun, upbeat instrumental. Here is my first beat I’ve ever made, enjoy!

Sick 80’s Beat

For my first Audio Bank assignment I completed an assignment called, Sick Beat. This assignment asks the creator to make a beat using sounds they found for free, public use online.

For this assignment I used freesound.org for all the sounds you hear, and used the Garage Band audio software to put everything together. To incorporate out 80’s Pop Culture theme I included sounds that were found through the search “80’s” on the Free Sound website. Each sound involves the 80’s in some way.

Once I reacquainted myself with the Garage Band software, I began to play around with different sounds. I choose to layer each sound to create a build, before trickling down to the Blender sound, before coming to an end.

Can you spot each of the sounds in the finished product?

80’s Blender (Water), 80’s alarm.aiff, DrumBass_80sUpdown_Dm_120BPM.wav, Tabletop clock ticking, 1/4 speed, Coquette French Style Phone.wav, and THX recreated.wav.

Sick Beat

Just me and my groovy beat. I used Audacity to make this beat. Below is both what it ended up sounding like, and also what it looked like on Audacity.

Sick Beats

This project was definitely fun, but not easy. I watched a tutorial from a past student which helped a lot. I searched for 80s hip hop sound effects, but it sort of ended being something else. Let me know what you think. I used the following clips from freesounds.org: –Hip Hop Sting Beat – Tom … Continue reading “Sick Beats”

SICK BEAT

This assignment was really difficult to figure out at first but I used a website called mix.dj. It gives you a huge variety of songs to chose from and you determine the fades, when the songs start, and su much more. I mixed Pursuit of Happiness and Roxanne and I think it turned out pretty cool. I couldn’t upload it anywhere except for twitter without paying for a subscription (and that is not an option), but the embedded tweet it above so check it out!! Once I finally figured it out it was really cool.

Sick Beat

For this assignment we had to create an audio track using different sounds. I decided to use GarageBand because it is what I am most comfortable with. I also decided to use the beats that are already in GarageBand to make it. I decided to make the beat as 80s themed as possible so I chose different beats such as “80s Dance Beat” and “80s Back Beat.” I had a lot of fun with this assignment because I took a Music Technology class last semester and I used a lot of Garage Band so it was cool to be able to apply what I learned in that class to this one. I hope you enjoy by sick beat!!

My first (and awful) attempt at creating music

Directions: “Make a sick beat, using whatever you can find on freesounds.org, and whatever you can record around you! I don’t care how long it is, just get groovy dood.”

This is the original link to the assignment. I got these sounds and beats off of freesounds.org. I used three different beats. One was a counties beat and the other two are strokes with pauses. I think it turned out pretty sick.
