Wait, where’d Big Bird come from?

Since the only thing anyone got out of the debate last night was that “Romney hates Big Bird” I decided to make a picture for “Wait, where’d that guy come from?” of Big Bird and Romney about to debate.

I started by finding pictures of Big Bird and Romney before the debate with Obama. Then I selected around Big Bird in his picture and copied and pasted him in GIMP from his image to the debate image. Then, I went behind Big Bird (whom I placed over Obama) and used the “clone tool” over him, stamping with the blue background (which is why it looks so funky). Then I went over the blue with the blur tool because it looked wonky (still does) and made Big Bird visible.

Romney is such a silly goose… er bird.

Three Chinese Officials in front of duPont Hall

For today’s Daily Create I photoshopped in the Three Chinese Officals meme which actually doubles as a design assignment (3 stars—which is far too many for this!). I love the idea of three hovering Chinese government officials congregating in front of duPont wondering what’s going to come out of the epicenter of Teaching and Learning technologies next.

Design Assignment: Where’s Waldo, Bosch-Style

Wait, Where’d That Guy Come From: Photoshop someone(s) (or something(s)) into a picture that isn’t supposed to be there.

I absolutely loved Analytic D.’s version of this assignment, “Waldo in the Garden of Earthly Delights.” I decided to do my own using Bosch’s “Martyrdom of Saints Crispin and Crispinian,” and add some of the other characters from the Waldo series, like Odlaw and Woof.

Where’s Waldo? was a favorite book  of mine as a child, so it was particularly fun and nostalgic to do this version of the assignment. The hardest part was decided how small to make the characters. I didn’t want them too large, but I didn’t want them to be impossible to find, either.

See if you can find Waldo, Odlaw, Woof, Wenda, and Wizard Whitebeard! :)

Wait, where’d that guy come from?

Wait, where’d that guy come from?, I have chosen this assignment from Design Assignment.

Instruction says : Photoshop someone(s) (or something(s)) into a picture that isn’t supposed to be there. Here’s the original inspiration for the project: http://www.zonaeuropa.com/20110629_1.htm

I really love ‘Shaun of the Dead’ and when I see this assignments, this idea came up first, so I made it.

I Just rememberthis video.

Step:

those are the original pictures.

taken from google search.
those looks similar.

I used Gimp2, I cut off the unnecessary area of Michael Jackson’s picture and paste it on the picture of Shaun of the dead. and that’s all!!

(no title)

Wait, where’d that guy come from? ( 3 star)

Captain Hook and Abe Lincoln? who knew, that explains alot. Hahahaha This one really made me giggle! Good thinking who ever came up with this assignment! Who knew President Lincoln knew captain hook! I used paint and Gimp to create this image. I started with gimp and cut out captain hook. Then I pasted captain hook into this vintage picture with President Lincoln. Next I changed the color so that the color tone matched throughout the picture. Finally I moved it to paint to save it and get it to Flickr. I haven’t figured out how to save pictures in Gimp.  I love this picture because nothing seems off at first! Captain hook blends right in. and then you notice it!

Wait, Where’d Snoopy Come From?

Where’s Snoopy?

The Assignment
Inspired by Eri’s ds106 assignment, I also decided to do a Design Assignment called Wait, Where’d That Guy Come From? by shannotate. The assignment read:

Photoshop someone(s) (or something(s)) into a picture that isn’t supposed to be there.

The Process
As soon as I read the directions for the assignment, Where’s Wally? came up into my mind. So I decided to put Snoopy in one of the Where’s Wally? picture.
I went to Google to find a nice Where’s Wally? picture. I also looked for a picture of Snoopy to put it on the picture.
Then I used Gimp to put the picture of Snoopy onto the Where’s Wally? picture.
This was a hard process for me because I haven’t used Gimp before and I’m not really experienced in editing and creating pictures.
First, I had to resize the picture of Snoopy so that it would look natural in the Where’s Wally? picture. Then I looked for a place to put Snoopy in. I cut out Snoopy’s legs so that it would be a little more difficult to find where he is.

The Story
This assignment was the first time I used Gimp and it was really fun. Although it took me time to make the picture, I’m very happy with how the picture turned out. :) I should play around with Gimp more often so that I can make cool pictures for myself!!
Were you guys able to find Snoopy in the picture?
For those of you who couldn’t find Snoopy, I uploaded a photo with the answer on Flickr so feel free to check it out!!

Master Yoda has lead us over years

This work is for “Wait, Where’d That Guy Come From?” in DesignAssignment.

In human history, people always respect Master Yoda

To create this picture, I basically used 4 layers in GIMP.

The background(=painting), Yoda,a robe which a woman in front of Yoda wears and Yoda’s shadow.

First, open the painting for the background.

Second, cut out Yoda from a picture of Star Wars by using a tool that can selects area and put him on a new layer

Third, clip the robe that is supposed to be in front of Yoda from the background and put it on another new layer.

Then create a new layer and paint Yoda’s shadow by using air brush function.

I tried to make the edge of Yoda more natural, but I could not find what worked well.

Wait, Where’d That Guy Come From?

Batman vs. Kong Poster

I took the original poster for the movie King Kong and put Batman in there who clearly doesn’t belong.

For the assignment Wait, Where’d That Guy Come From?, I opened the original King Kong poster with Photoshop. Then I got rid of the dinosaur and the woman by copy and pasting the original environment behind them. So I used the history brush to blend it so they would disappear.

Then I took Batman and put him in. I had to make him really dark by adjusting the Hue/Saturation in order to match the tone of the poster.

To make the light reflect on Batman I used the Fading Brush and made it really large and used the color white. I spread that all over Batman then used the History Brush to erase the parts I did not need. I only kept some of the white around his body to make it appear  that the light source made sense in contrast to Kong.

For the Font I used Verdana and used the effect of Inner Shadow, the color used is white. I also added fade only to the bottom of the letters.

Who Got Served?

This is the Wait, where’d that guy come from? assignment; simply just putting someone random in a place they shouldn’t be. I was watching Fresh Prince (one of my favorite shows) and decided to use it for this assignment.

First and for most cropping the Sun Drop was a pain! But  I used the magnetic lasso tool, usually I use the magic wand tool but the background was way too busy. After selected the body I went to “Refine” under the main PS tool bar, and played with the options I had. I ended up repeating this process twice and it didn’t come out perfect but it was good enough. In total it took me about 10 mins to do this photo.

My inspiration: Fresh Prince and Sun Drop
