Jazzercise Instructor

The next design assignment that I decided to do was create your own business card. In this assignment, I had to create a business card for some sort of business that I had or wanted to have.

When thinking about what I wanted to somehow connect it to the theme of this class, that is when I decided that I would make a business card as is I was a jazzercise instructor from the 80s.

I really enjoyed being able to connect this theme to the assignment and look for business card templets that seemed to be kind of 80s. I decided on a templet that was very bright and colorful. That is when I got started with customizing it to me and my “business”.

I loved being to be creative and to bring the 80s into this assignment! I also love the final product that I ended up with!

Create Your Own Business Card!

I included my secret agent, Margaret Delatour, into this assignment. She owns a marina, so I made a business card for her marina, Marina du Soleil. I went to a business card website and had to go through and find a background that I thought was good. I thought this background was perfect because it is water-related. I had to edit the card and put in my own words and I also had to move around the mermaid tail.

Here’s My Card….

For this assignment the task was to create a business card.

Whenever I think of business cards I think of this scene from The Dark Knight. Image from here.

My inspiration for this assignment was from my Photography work which I actually needed to create a business card for at some point in the near future. This assignment therefore served as a useful opportunity to actually create a business card that I may actually use in the future.

Other inspiration was taking a look at other people’s business cards like this one from another automotive photographer and other general photography related business cards on this website. After viewing these I had thought that I wanted to have one side primarily of example of my photography work and possibly my logo while on the other side have the standard contact information.

I started making the business card in Adobe Photoshop using two project files. One for the front and one for the back. In the front file I simply pasted in some of my best/favourite photos into the document and resized them in an equal pattern to fit the standard size (3.5 x 2 inches). For the back I inserted my logo and then using the Text Tool to write my contact information. I also used three small icons on the back, two of which I adapted from logos and one which I created using simple shapes in Adobe Illustrator .

This first attempt can be seen below:

However after doing the first attempt I wasn’t overly happy with how it turned out so I went on to make more changes. to the design. For the front of the card  decided to reduce the number of images so that I could position the logo and about line on the front. I took 2 photos from the first attempt and found another that fitted well together having the horizon treeline lined up and sky above to provide a minimal background for the logo. On the images I did have to add in more of the sky to fill the height of the card which was done using the Content Aware Fill Tool which automatically creates pixels in that area based on the surrounding image. For the back I just rearranged the remaining content and made it larger so it’s easily readable since the card would be quite small if it were to be printed.

The finished product can be seen below:

I think the finished product looks quite good and I’m glad I was able to find 3 good images of mine to edit together for the front. The card could potentially look cleaner with one single image on the front however one image doesn’t show a “range of work” so that may need some thought before I go about actually printing any. Also on the card I need to finish making my website before I go about printing any. As mentioned making business cards was something I needed to go about doing as over the past couple of months I’ve had quite a few opportunities where it would have been very useful to have some to give to potential contacts/clients at various events I’ve attended. So I will definitely continue to develop what I’ve created above and probably get feedback from people before progressing to printing.

Call When Needed

Although I do not have any services to offer at the moment, I have created a business card (2 stars)  for the time when I do need one.

The original assignment says to use Photoshop but I don’t have access to that so I used Pixlr.com which is essentially the same.

I started with a plain white background because simplicity is the theme I’m going for in my useless business card. I went to Google to find some sort of design to add to the card to give it some pizzazz. The final step in the process was for me to add the words and easily enough, I had created my very own business card!

Bow Barista;

I am the bow barista; I wear hairbows to work! It’s my hashtag on instagram. Why not make a business card (2 Stars) for myself?

To start, I opened CS2 and played with ratios till I got one that looked like a business card. I typed my name in the text box, found some nice font, picked a lovely blue, and centered it. I then typed “Bow Barista” into another text box, found a funky font, decided on a hue and then placed it below my name. I saved it and then opened it in Pixlr to add a “splatter” effect, to look like I spilled coffee. I saved that, then reopened it in CS2 to add a little clip art of a coffee cup.

And, violĂ ! I have a business card.

Create your own business card

Eventually after graduation I think I would have a card similar to this, without the fake information. It’s simple, bold  (if made on bonded paper with texture) and conveys what i am trying to convey. That is, I am not wasteful.

Professional Student Sean

Hello!  I am Sean Doud and I’m about to begin a new chapter in my life for the next year, Professional Student.  I’m so close to finishing and I can graduate by May 2016.  Check out my Business Card.

For this Assignment, I used word and added a table, with a gray background.  I found the image on google and thought what better than a light bulb to show ideas.  I am, after all, now a professional student.

Jones & Callaway

Hello, Lukas here. It’s April 5th, 2015 and I’m here to launch a new company. After everything that happened in the late 40s, I wanted to do something good. I met a guy called Christopher and he seems to know what he is doing. We’re gonna help people. We plan on starting a supernatural protection agency. We are gonna solve crimes and save people instead of doing the other thing. Yeah, it’s gonna be good now. Hopefully.

Kassia Note: Here is the Business Card assignment that is 2 points. I wanted to create a business card that was the opposite to the Aquia Maxius one. This is the group the Lukas and some people he meets create after all the noir events happen in the past.

Create Your Own Business Card

Create Your Own Business Card-2pts

For this assignment I made business cards for House of Noir; Getaways I made them on Microsoft publisher and left the title blank so I could forward them to my co-workers so they could put their names on it and have it for their convenience. Nothing makes you feel more official than having your own business card. I remember when I first moved to New York and I was looking for work my friend told me to make business cards and I wasn’t sure what to put on them because I had never had a job before coming to NY. It’s crazy how almost 3 years later I belong to a company and I am able to help so many people. Kind of amazing if you ask me.

Business Card- 2 stars

This is my business card for O.L.D. Agency. I used Photoshop to put together the moon image and the Edward and Vladmir font.

I think our business is an interesting type of business. You can email/call when you need some help with internet evils. That is what we are here for.
