Be Mine…All Four of You, Please?!

When I saw this assignment, a belated Valentine’s Day card that was mysteriously left at Black Widow Agency came to mind. I mean, the wording is just beautiful, so it is worth sharing! The assignment “Noir Valentines” states: In honor of the convergence of Friday the 13th, St. Valentine’s Day and Noir106, and inspired by The Nitrate Diva, here’s a new assignment … Continue reading Be Mine…All Four of You, Please?!

Lawrence sends Andrea Carr a Valentine, and Andrea is not pleased…

So Andrea hates Lawrence. She thinks he’s a horrible ‘swine of a man’ and a ‘wayward woodchuck.’ After receiving this Valentine, she ripped it up and it sent it back to him with a not that said, “Not if you were the last tosser on Earth.” Rightfully deserved.

In honor of the convergence of Friday the 13th, St. Valentine’s Day and Noir106, and inspired by The Nitrate Diva, here’s a new assignment to try: Design a Noir Valentine card. Incorporate images and quotes from film noir, the noir-er the better.

2 Stars!

Below I have created a Noir Valentine Card. It incorporates two “lovers” and my caption at the top reading “I love you, but get me a drink”. I found this to be very Noir and it also ties into my character as Gambino is not all about the love life and always needs a drink. It also fits the gangster, tough man, style. I found the image on Google and I used gimp to put it together. Happy late Valentines Day fellow noir lovers!

Noir Valentines: 2 points

The next assignment that I did was called Noir Valentines. I decided to make a card where that represented something my character would give to something.  I actually found this image funny because the woman is straight up blowing smoke into the mans face.

Valentines Day Noir

The next assignment I did was called Noir Valentines worth 2 star.  What we have to do was pick a picture and make it into a valentines day card. The image I chose was of a police office smoking. The movie it was from id The Dude’s Talk and it reminds me of what I think Caleb (no noir character) would look like.

Noir Valentines (2 Stars)

double indemnity valentineSince yesterday was Valentine’s Day I thought making a noir Valentine sounded like fun. So I chose to do this assignment for a few more stars. However, I failed to actually make it on Valentine’s Day,  but I am only a couple hours late now. First I looked up quotes from Double Indemnity which I watched this week, and I found one I liked when Walter and Phyllis were speaking playfully to each other the first time they met. I put both pictures into photoshop and edited them into the same canvas. I then used bright pink writing, Arial Bold, for Valentine’s day and put the quote on top of the picture and added my own Valentine comment along with a to/from line. In general, the most difficult part of this assignment was picking a quote but once I found one it was fun to make. Double Indemnity had a lot of good quotes to work with. I give my full permission to anyone who would like to give this noir Valentine to there special someone a day late.

Well, this is for Mr. Paul’s Noir Valentines Design Assignment 1615 assignment that he made that I made for him. You can read all of those noir words that I said up there in the card, and then you can look them up if you need to translate them into your regular words. Jim Groom (@jimgroom) and Mr. Paul (@phb256) will like the Twists, Slugs, and Roscoes: A Glossary of Hardboiled Slang.

Don’t be a bunny, close your head and pin your diapers on. Dip the bill, drift and fade in your Flogger (and go climb up your thumb). The rumble is you may be lousy with the bees, but my cheaters say you’re a hinky hombre, and I made ya. No Oyster fruit from this peeper, savvy? I’m swift and no weak sister bim. Take it on the beezer, it’s time for you to visit the clubhouse, or I’ll play you some chin music and set you up for the Big Sleep. But have a happy Valentine’s day all the same, bub!

Well, it is always fun to have a nice Valentine Card to send. Plus a Noir106 one.

A Noir Valentine’s Card

Love-in-Noir-2

For one of the design assignments, I decided to go with designing a Noir themed Valentine’s Day card.  I am pretty new to the whole image editing game, so I wanted to choose assignments that would force me to step my game up.  Also, I just finished card shopping (I know its a little late), so I was already in the mood for V-Day cards.  I chose this picture because it looked like a classic noir type couple in love.  I added the red font to spice it up, and moved it around numerous times to try to find the best fit.  In the signature, it was signed “Love, Vinny D”, to get my character involved in any way I can. Vinny D always calls his wife ‘his sweetheart’, so this was the perfect card for him.  Happy Valentine’s Day!
