Bright Idea?

For this design assignment, I chose to Create a T-Shirt. This assignment is rated 3 stars. The main objective is to obtain a T-shirt template and add anything you want to it.

I chose to keep it simple yet comical with my design. What I enjoy about my design is that it has two meanings: one would be a literal interpretation of the question, “Is that really a smart move/idea? or a comical sense of the phrase with the incorporated light bulb beaming because it is “bright.” I like to utilize both ideas because many times I find myself questioning whether or not I should do something and stress myself out so much I am in dire need of comedic relief.

BRIGHT IDEA?

To create this image, I searched for a white T-shirt template on google and saved it to my computer. Then I started to edit my project using the website Canva.

You can easily upload an image by choosing “upload” from the left side tool bar. I then searched for “icons” under the “elements” tab and the light bulb was one of the first to come up (lucky me!). After I dragged the photo to the desired spot on the t-shirt, I worked on the text.

You can edit the text or insert text on an object by selecting the “text” tab on the left sidebar and typing in what you want to say. Editing is simple because you can change font and color when you click on the text.

Finally, when you are happy with your design, click download and choose the (JPG) file to export.

Everyone has those moments where decisions have to be made. No one is perfect and because we are human we are destined to make mistakes along the way. The brightest ideas are the ones that are carefully thought out and addressed, not the ideas that are forced or rushed.

This assignment truly stimulated my creative senses.

You can find the White T-Shirt Photo.

Looking awfully tusk-y today

For this assignment I was to design my own tshirt. Since I love walruses so much, the choice was simple! I loved the color of the walrus painting I found and decided that if I were to make a shirt I would probably want that on it, with just a silly sentence for fun.

The assignment is here

Steps:

  1. I went here to be able to design my own tshirt, design lab lets you choose what style of shirt, color, and lets you either use their art, or upload your own.
  2. Choose your design picture/art/words
  3. Place them where you want them
  4. Then I screenshotted it and saved it to my computer

What is a contrarian exactly? To me a contrarian means someone or something that defies common beliefs or practices. The official definition according to Google is “a person who opposes or rejects popular opinion, especially in stock exchange dealings.” The term originates from the stock market. Usually the contrarians are the ones who make the most money in the stock market. On a particularly bad day in the market many people are upset because they fear they lost money. Contrarians are usually excited because this is a great opportunity to buy more stock.

Be a Contrarian
Be a Contrarian

The first time I realized I was acting like a contrarian, was on a rainy and cold day at Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. It was a nasty day that had chased many beachgoers from their seaside umbrellas into their houses or into town to spend the day indoors. I realized that while it was cold and rainy there was a very strong wind blowing directly out of the south. For me this was a perfect opportunity to go kite surfing. I quickly fetched my gear and was out to the water in no time. The conditions were perfect and I hardly noticed the cold air and whipping rain. However, I had the entire beach and ocean to myself. The only people I could see looked like dots in the far distance. I realized that I was a contrarian by rejecting the practice of going indoors during a rain storm. I realized that day that defying the status quo often leads to better kitesurfing conditions.

In general I try to not follow the crowds but rather contradict them. It can lead to money in the stock market and even great kitesurfing conditions.

Notice how there are few to no people in the video of me kitesurfing.

Create A T-Shirt – “FOr this assignment, you get to design your very own t-shirt! Find a blank t-shirt template, then add a picture or some text. It could be a joke, a pop culture reference, a movie quote, or anything else you want.” http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/create-a-t-shirt/

Tutorial:

  1. Pick a blank image of a shirt design you want and put it into Gimp
  2. Find a graphic image you would like for your shirt and save it
  3. Free select (or fuzzy select) your graphic in a different window
  4. Drag graphic onto shirt image
  5. Resize the graphic to the size you would like
  6. Find witty saying to add to shirt (even better if a pun)
  7. Add text to shirt and make sure the font is legible, color goes with shirt, and size is acceptable
  8. DONE = SAVE

assign3So I LOVE cats, but at the same time, I am one of those people who will say cats are Satan’s helpers. They can be full of attitude, do what they please, and bite for no reason. Or at least in my experience. So the cat image here is a mixture of both of my mentalities when it comes to cats: hellish and adorable at the same time. I also went for more of a Grumpy Cat text here: sassy. However, I added my own Grumpy Cat twist by making the text include a witty pun. Woo go me. I also wanted the style to be something I would personally wear because why do a creative assignment that isn’t even me? So I went for a black and white edgy look that is a mix of a hipster graphic tee and just a statement tee (“I hate Mondays”, “I woke up like this”, etc.). I also didn’t want just a plain white or black t shirt so I picked out the baseball styled shirt.

So you’re in a Forever 21 on a Monday night because your little sister needs a last minute dress and it has to be trendy. You’re also a broke college student so shopping in the mall is like flying first class. Ain’t gonna happen with -1k in the bank account. You’ll stick to your Ramen and thrift store buys. You’re also anxious to get home because you have a long night of blogging to do and you’re already exhausted from working 8 hours. But you figure, you’re already there, might as well look around instead of standing awkwardly doing nothing. So you peruse the t shirt section because it would be the only thing there remotely cheap enough to buy on a Ramen diet. Lo and behold: you come across this beauty. Your face cracks into a grin because you feel like how the cat looks. And also need lots of coffee to get through the night. You check the price tag with fingers crossed hoping it is at least under ten bucks. It is. Score! You skip gleefully over to your sister who looks at you funny because two seconds ago you were sighing dramatically to emphasize how much you didn’t want to be there. Now you’re smiling? You show her your newest treasure, that you will wear more times than you should the first few weeks, and she decides to reward you for going by buying your t shirt. What a lucky day! Maybe this shirt will cause even more luck than that old four leaf clover from elementary school.

ENFP T-Shirt – Design Assignment Bank – Week 3

ENFP T-SHIRT DESIGN

The design assignment I chose was to design my very own t-shirt. I was to find a blank t-shirt template, then add a picture or some text. It could be a joke, a pop culture reference, a movie quote, or anything else of my choosing. I chose this assignment because I love t-shirts that have all-to-true statements on them.

To create this t-shirt design I first used an iPhone app called Word Swag to type the text I wanted. Then I looked for a font I liked. I saved the image and uploaded it to my computer. I then went to www.customink.com and found a t-shirt template. I uploaded the image of the text and put the image on the t-shirt template. Next, I took a screen shot of the final design with Snagit.

ENFP’s (Extrovert, Intuitive, Feeling, Perceiving) are known for their propensity to start projects that they never finish because something else comes along that they’re interested in, and they start a new project that will never be finished because something else comes along. Well, you get the idea. It’s so true, and it makes me laugh.

For important projects, I find it helpful to pair and ENFP with someone who is a TJ (Thinking, Judging) so they can keep them on track and follow through to the end of the project. The ENFP provides creativity and imagination, and the TJ provides the analytical and decision-making piece to the project.

If I were to make my own t-shirt…

A t-shirt I personally designed… HOW GREAT! The create a t-shirt design assignment allowed me to do just that. As soon as I saw this assignment I knew I would make a t-shirt with a quote on it. As cheesy as it may sound, I love quotes. I can almost always relate quotes to my life, whether its my past or my present.

I knew for my t-shirt design I would use one of my favorite quotes. “Live the life you love. Love the life you live.” I can’t tell you who the quote is by because they’re 2 separate sayings that I combined. “Live the life you love” to me means to live life the way I want to live it, the way that makes ME happy… not how everyone else wants me to live. It took me a while to realize that my life is MINE and I should live it however I want regardless of what others may think. Everyone deserves to be happy. Create your own definition of what happy is and aspire to be YOUR kind of happy everyday. “Love the life you live” for me relates to truly being appreciative of all that your life has to offer you. Don’t be envious of someone else. Embracing all of your circumstances and making the best of them is what it’s all about. Be proud of your every move. Make sure to embrace your happiness and to embrace the fact that you are living just how you’d like. This may all sound cheesy to some of you but that’s how I feel everyone should live. LIVE AND LET LIVE. Everyone deserves happiness.

WAY

The bottom of my t-shirt says “stay true”. Staying true to yourself is so important for your personal happiness. Keeping it “real” with yourself goes a long way.

STAY TRUE, make a t-shirt that defines you…

Create a T-Shirt

This is a Design Assignment and its worth 3 stars. For this assignment we had to create our own T-shirt. Ashley decided on doing a shirt using my host character and created a quote of her own that she thought would suit my host character. From there I took her ideas for the T-Shirt and found a site and we both started to look at different templates of how we wanted to design the shirt. Ashley decided with making the t-shirt grey to give it that eerie feeling. Then I took the name of my host character and put it on the front of the shirt and gave it a gothic font. Then I put the saying on the back of the shirt in a distressed text. Then I realized that it was too bland and I found a haunting cloud image and layered it for the front of the t-shirt.

A t-shirt design like no other!

Much like myself, Victor is also an avid fan of the series JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (though only a select few know this). For one of his birthdays, a friend of his made him a shirt. To tell you the truth, it was Aaron! A mighty long five years ago, when they first met before founding the Grade A Gruesome group. Oh, how long it’s been since then.

If you’d like to see the shirt, here it is!

This was a design assignment and was worth 3 stars.

Create A T-Shirt

Created a shirt of my favorite saying “Basketball is Life”. Just because it is a huge part in my life, I wouldn’t be in College right now if it wasn’t for basketball. It is how i got through school all of these years, helped me meet all of my friend, and has kept me out of a lot of trouble. I have no idea what I would be doing with now if it wasn’t for this amazing sport!

I made it by finding a blank jersey template. And I used a photo editor to put a picture of a basketball on it and simply add the text on the shirt. Changing the color of the font and adding the fade effect on the side came last.
