A Wonder Woman Mashup

I made this separately last week upon the release of the new Wonder Woman trailer, but it appears to fit this assignment, so I thought I’d share it with you all anyway.  I used CyberLink PowerDirector to edit together scenes from the first season of the original Wonder Woman series (starring Lynda Carter).  The audio from the new trailer is layered over this footage.  The result is a pretty sweet mashup of our two Wonder Women.

Movie Mashup (Remix)

For this mashup assignment, I had to use my favorite movie trailer and mash it up with a different trailer to completely change the meaning of the trailer. So I thought that it would be fun to make a normally happy trailer into a more mature or horror version. I decided that this assignment should be related my character because I had a movie in mind.

I thought of the happiest movie that I thought that I could make into a scarier version and thought of the animated 1995 movie “Toy Story”. This relates to my created character of Buck, because the character in Toy Story of “Woody” is a cowboy sheriff that shows leadership and bravery around the people in the area. Woody is basically the inspiration of me creating Buck Smith.

I searched on Youtube for the original trailer and found 2 very good trailers that I could use scenes from. I then converted the trailers into MP4s for iMovie and imported it into the software. From that point, I wanted to use scenes that would either show anger; or would look creepier with a different tone of background music. I decided that the best way to show anger was show some of the scenes of Toy rivalry between Buzz and Woody. After I had mashed the trailer together, I still needed to put the background music into the trailer.

This part was the hardest part to think of because I couldn’t think of any particular music that would make it creepier. Until I thought of the Walking Dead Theme Song, which in my opinion portrays intimidation, eeriness, and is dramatically creepy. So I downloaded the MP3 from a Youtube video and imported the audio into the iMovie trailer with Toy Story. I actually had to put 2 Walking Dead theme audio clips because each were only 48 seconds, but I was able to make it work.

Then the last thing that I did to complete the assignment was place the darkest filter I could find on iMovie. Surprisingly it was the scifi filter which made it the darkest, so I went with it.

Overall, this was a very fun assignment that I wouldn’t mind doing with other movies. All I would need are some more instrumental songs to use for the trailers.

The Good Jurassic Dinosaur

Original Assignment

I mashed together the new trailer for the movie “The Good Dinosaur” and the audio for “Jurassic World” and the result I thought was pretty funny. I just used Windows Movie Maker and imported the audio that I had clipped in audacity to play over top of the video portion.

The beginning started off a little bit weird but once it gets going I think it’s pretty funny.

Part 6: Coming Full Circle

For the final piece in my storyline, Winnie and The Bees showdown in an epic finale which tests the resolve of both parties stuck in their stubborn ways. Well…maybe not. Personally, I like to leave things a little open ended and let the reader do some interpretation. Therefore, this assignment gives a few visual clues one what will occur but in the end is left up to the imagination.

I choose to complete a video mashup assignment called “Movie Trailer Mashup” which uses video editing to combine the potential storylines of different movies into a new storyline. Since Winnie has been pitted against the bees, this trailer combines narratives from both sides into a anticipatory tale. I also made a minor edit to the assignment in using an actual episode of Winnie the Pooh instead of a trailer. However, I did use a trailer from The Bee Movie which came out in 2007.

As you can tell, the trailer is a rather dramatic interpretation of what their final confrontation was like. The bees, who have had enough with the thievery of Winnie and friends, have prepared with high tech equipment and an organized approach. Where as Winnie along with his pals, Tigger and Piglet, have decided to go about it Wild West style.

I completed this assignment, I spent a good amount of time editing video segments in Windows Movie Maker. I started off by searching Youtube for content related to what I had in mind. When I found two scenes that I liked, I downloaded them using YoutubeinMP4.com which converts them into Mp4s. I also downloaded the trailer from the recent movie Godzilla which served as my narrative and background music.

Since the Winnie the Pooh clip was almost 21 minutes long, I spent a while editing that down to separate clips totaling about a minute and 20 seconds. I did the same with The Bee Movie trailer using about 40 seconds of it. I tried to edit the clips to where the soundtrack rose and fell according to the scene.

Overall, I’m happy with the way things turned out. Obviously, it won’t be perfect because the trailers are composed of clips trying to promote their narrative and not mine, but worked out anyways.

The Divergent Games

I did the Movie Trailer Mashup Assignment worth 4.5 stars.

I dowloaded both the Divergent and Hunger Games trailers from Youtube and imported them into iMovie.

Next, I broke up the trailers into the scenes they featured from the movies, and tried to find similar scenes between the two trailers. I put the similar scenes together and carefully ordered them to make sure a plot line somewhat flowed through the new mashup trailer. I also wanted some of the talking to I made sure to increase the volume on the talking scenes and mute the scenes that did not need their original sounds. I found a royalty free song on Incompetech to add to almost the entire trailer. In the very beginning I simply copied part of the background music from the Divergent trailer and added it to the hunger games scene before bringing in my royalty free track. I kept the black transitions from the original trailers and added in transitions between the title scenes and trailers and the date scene and the trailer. I added in the release date scene for my mashuped movie and created a mashuped logo for my movie trailer.
I picked these two movies because they both take place in a dystopian futuresque world, and both have lead female characters. This is The Divergent Games.

Rise of the Lion King

Here’s a trailer mashup one of my grade 8 students did. Students had to create a mashup of existing content following fair use policy and changing the intent of the original. The student Ellen, mashed The Lion King with audio from Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

The Rise of Curious George****

For the last ds106 assignment ever, I did a mashup assignment called Movie Trailer Mashup.  To go with the theme of my final project (Curious George), I mashed up Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Curious George.

Using YouTube, I found a Rise of the Planet of the Apes trailer that I used the audio from, and  two Curious George (trailer1 and trailer2).  I downloaded them via keepvid.com and opened them in MPEG Streamclip in order to convert them from mp4 to avi.  Now in avi, I used Windows Movie Maker to put the audio and video together.

Several hours later, after cutting the Curious George trailers to match up with the audio from Planet of the Apes, I got my final product. It was frustrating at times, but overall, I had a lot of fun with this assignment and I’m glad it was my last one in this class!

4 stars

Alas, those pesky stars!

It’s the last time we will ever do stars, fellow DS106ers. How bittersweet. For my two mashup assignments, I decided to have as much fun as possible with them BUT to also make sure I really get my points across while making some sort of impression on DS106 as a whole.

 Mashup #1(four star’s!):

For my first mash-up this week, I decided to do a Movie Trailer Mashup, which is where you take two movies (either their trailers, or scenes from them) and you switch’em up. By switching I mean, I used the movie Insidious and The Ring. I decided to go with the trailer from The Ring but use the audio from Insidious. I was worried at first because I was afraid that the voices would be heard with the lack of mouths moving. However, when I looked at other examples, I found comfort in that no one actually cared too much about that. It was more about how well you could get them to fit (or not fit..!). There was a small portion of editing but overall, it was easy and quick! I used Keepvid to download both of the videos, then iMovie to do anything editing that i needed. For my details, check out my tutorial here! Otherwise, I used the two following trailers:

And i put them together to form my own:

Evil Twilight – ????

Another assignment that just… spoke to me: Movie Trailer Mashup.

Take your favorite movie trailer and mash it up with a different trailer to completely change the meaning of the original trailer. For example, if you have a funny movie trailer, give it the sound of a terrifying movie; or vice versa.

It took me a few minutes of thinking, but then I knew the movie trailer I needed to mash up for my own entertainment: Twilight (2008). Who doesn’t like a good spoof?

Now the task was to find a trailer with audio that matched the video of Twilight. I searched a lot of dark, horror films that have come out in the past year, and then found Evil Dead (2013).

You can see both trailers below:

I only had to do a little editing at the beginnings and ends of both clips to have them match up. I tried taking out pieces/speeding up the sound to have it match up better, but it created jumps that stood out far too much for me.

I used PwnYouTube and Windows Movie Maker for this one. Adobe Premiere Pro hasn’t been working for me lately, so I had to work with what I had.
