Sneezing Emoji

I used my friend Courtney as the model. She was sneezing a lot that day so I asked if she could pose and do this emoji for me.

Mash-up 1

This assignment was worth 4 stars. The goal of this assignment was to take a picture of someone who looks like an emoji. I used fotor to make the collage of the two pictures. I got the picture of the emoji from google and the picture of my friend from my camera roll. Overall, this assignment was very easy!

Enjoy! P.S.- Don’t tell my roommate that I used this picture!

He Who Makes an Emoji out of Himself

This is my response to the Mashing Friends and Emojis assignment, worth 4 stars. I had to put a picture of a person next to an emoji with a similar expression. I found this picture of my dad that I thought was kind of funny that also reminded me of the toothy grin emoji.

As I was placing the images in the layout, “Bat Country” by Avenged Sevenfold started playing in my head and it reminded me of a certain quote by Samuel Johnson: “He who makes a beast out of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man.” My adaptation made me giggle so I decided to use it. As usual, I made this in Inkscape.

Surprise! Four Wheeling – Emoj

BeFunky Collage

This week’s assignment for ds106 mashup #1508 was to take a picture of a friend doing something just like an emoji and mash them together.  My family went four wheeling on the Switzerland Trail during the afternoon on the 4th of July.  This trip was part of my theme for the semester, Exploring Your Own Backyard.  The Switzerland Trail in just west of Boulder, CO and used to be a narrow gauge railway.  They have since taken the tracks out and what is left behind is a bumpy easy 4wheel drive adventure.  The picture I choose to match up with an emoji is one of my children and I as we were experiencing some of those “lovely” bumps in the road!

I airdropped the picture from my phone to my computer and used the BeFunky Collage Maker to complete my assignment.  BeFunky was very easy to use.  I choose a two grid collage, inserted our family picture in one section and the emoji in the other.  (I had previously saved the emoji as a jpeg onto my desktop).

The Switzerland Trail is a fun, free, bumpy experience with incredible views.  We are having a great time “Exploring our own Backyard”!

Emoji Friends

Emojis

These are my dear friends hanging out in the Amphitheater during the first big snow on campus. My roommate Sophia was trying to take pictures of the snow/water on Emma’s glasses, and I was taking pictures of them. Claire joined in for one of the best series of photos I have ever collected. This one was my favorite.

The assignment that inspired this had called for finding an emoji that reflected a friend’s expression. I thought it was pretty simple for a four start assignment, so I decided to kick it up a notch and find some pictures for more than one friend. Then I stumbled on this gem and decided to use it. Claire’s face is absolutely priceless.

I found the left and right emojis on a fun site called iEmoji, which gives you access to a pretty standard set of emojis to use if you’re, say, trying to tweet on your computer and you really need that one emoji. The middle face surfaced thanks to a Google search from my roommate which was apparently just “lol face“, so thanks goes to her to helping me match that expression in the middle. Then I put it all together in Paint.NET, got permission from everyone to post their faces, and here it is. I love my friends.

Chilling Like a Villain

As the title suggests, he’s just chilling like a villain. For this assignment we were required to do a side by side comparison of an emoji and a person. Here they are.

She looked at me!

Assignment: Mashing Friends and Emojis 4.5 Stars

Assignment Description: For this assignment you are to take a picture of one of your friends or just a person that is in the moment doing something exactly like an emoji and then mash them together for comparison.

dr wisdom embarassedLove of my life:  Hey y’all, Dr. Wisdom here! This was a great photo taken of me back in the day. It was the day that I met my wonderful wife. I walked in the bar, and I just couldn’t believe my eyes. She was and still is the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. I believe that my face looks most similar to this emoji to the right of me. I was quite embarrassed, and I do believe my cheeks turned bright red.

The Surgery of it all: A two picture photo collage really isn’t hard to make. I used the always fun BeFunky site to put together my collage. I just found both of these images on google, saved them, then uploaded them to BeFunky to make the collage.

For this last mashup assignment I was to take a picture of something/someone in the moment that was similar to an emoji. I was then required to put them side by side for comparison. Well it just so happened that I walked in on my roommate being extremely studios. Like books out, notebook open, laptop running, highlighter highlighting studious. So I snapped a picture and picked the best emoji I feel that would be represented by her in real life and here it is!
