This Doesn’t Belong Here (4*)

I used Gimp again for these.

This Doesn’t Belong Here

I did the 4-star “This Doesnt Belong Here” mashup assignment where “you need to mash up two different iconic movie scenes. However, you should aim to be as subtle as possible. Perhaps a famous prop that simply doesn’t belong or a character that looks a little out of place.” I must admit that it was not subtle at all, but I did a mashup of Jim Carrey as the mask and as Ace Ventura. I just edited The Mask’s face on Ace Ventura’s body.

Wait?

This Doesn’t Belong Here-For this 4 star assignment you need to mash up two different iconic movie scenes. However, you should aim to be as subtle as possible. Perhaps a famous prop that simply doesn’t belong or a character that looks a little out of place.

I took scenes from Wonder Woman 1984 and Star Wars: the Last Jedi to create this mash up. I used paint to cut out Master Yoda from the scene where he was speaking to Luke Skywalker. Then used Canva to put them together.

Wait What

The goal of this assignment was to mash up two iconic movie scenes to make them flow together and look like part of the same frame. I started out by doing a google search of iconic movie scenes. I chose an iconic scene from The Shining and Home Alone. I downloaded them and placed them side by side. Since the man on the left is peaking through a door and looking to the right in a creepily way and the boy is looking at the creepy man in terror from a different room, it looks like they could go together but they are actually from two different movies. I chose these two movies because I thought they were photos that everyone would recognize and also it displays a little bit of a Halloween spirit with a Halloween movie scene and a little bit of Christmas spirit with a Christmas movie. I think they fit together pretty well. Let me know what you think in the comments below.

80’s movie scene mashup

????

For this assignment, I chose to combine two famous 80’s movie scenes into one picture. I’ve seen this picture of the scene many times, just in pictures and references on blog posts, etc., but I’ve actually never seen the movie itself (Say Anything). Maybe it’ll be the next quarantine movie I’ll watch!

I tried to make it look like these two were jamming out to music together and trying to get someone’s attention. I got both pictures from Pinterest and edited it using PicsArt on my phone. I think the lower part of Bender’s body up until it reaches his arm looks pretty realistic. It was hard to crop his arm and the head, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. I chose these two scenes because I figured it would be easier to make it look like one whole picture with people who were presenting in similar positions (standing), wearing similar clothing (the coats). To me, they honestly look like they could be friends! I had thoughts at first about putting the guy with the boombox (not sure his name) in Bender’s end scene (on the football field) but I thought that background with the car might’ve made that more difficult to do.

Let me know what you think!

If you’ve seen both of these movies, which do you like better?

This doesn’t belong her

I really liked this assignment. I got to take two of my favorite movies and combine them together. It was fun to try to make it as seamless as possible

I decided to combine ET and and Titanic. Two movies that I watched when I was little. I felt like this was the most iconic scene from ET. It is even on the cover of the movie. In Titanic the most iconic scene is probably the scene where Reyes is on the door while Jack dies in the water but I could not think of a way to integrate that into the ET scene. I picked the second seen that came to mind from titanic which was when they are riding on the front of the boat. I Photoshopped them together?????.

Week 12 Assignment Bank:

This Doesn’t Belong Here:

For this assignment I was asked to take two iconic movie scenes or images and combine them in an unnatural way that makes you think – yeah, that doesn’t belong there. I chose the iconic scene from Titanic, and the Millennium falcon from star wars to fly in the background. I used photoshop to create this mashup and it is worth 4 stars!

Consumer Mashup:

For this assignment I decided to use my favorite company (and most often used) Starbucks! I used photoshop for this assignment and simply painted over the original lettering and added my own text in to replace it with my favorite drink. I also used a coffee cup clip art on the sides to replace the stars that were there before! 4 stars!

This assignment is worth 4 stars.

I picked this assignment because I liked the idea of taking two different movies and making a combination with the two. I think this one is pretty self explanatory. This mashup is with The Lion King and Finding Nemo. I love both of these Disney movies. The hardest part for me was actually picking the movies I wanted to use, there are so many options! What do you guys think? I made this graphic using Canva.

I decided to make this a re-do of one of my previous assignments: Coming to America

Instead of putting aliens in the poster, I decided to put a tiger (Rajah from Aladdin) which would fit in with the character’s origin story better.

How I did it:

First off I had to find a base for what I was going to use my new image in. I had found the Coming to America poster online as well as the picture of Rajah.

Next, I uploaded both of them into GIMP. In order to make Rajah transparent and movable, you have to first open the image, then open the same image again as layers. Move the bottom image away and move the top one over the checkered area. Then click Layer at the top and go town to transparency and click on “Open Alpha Layer.” Once this is completed use the eraser to get rid of the background.

You can then resize the image by clicking Image at the top and then going to “Scale Image.” Make the image the size you want it and then copy and paste it into the appropriate photo and then move it around.

YOU BELONG TO THE BREAKFAST CLUB

? Still don’t know where you’re going
Your still just a face in the crowd
You belong to the breakfast club
You belong to the goonies
Living in a river of darkness beneath the neon light
You were born in the club ?

Glenn “Melody” Frey

It’s mashup week at Ds106, and for my first assignment, I chose to do This Doesn’t Belong Here! Details for this assignment are as follows:

“For this assignment you need to mash up two different iconic movie scenes. However, you should aim to be as subtle as possible. Perhaps a famous prop that simply doesn’t belong or a character that looks a little out of place.”

Starting out, I knew that I wanted to take something I’ve already done before and use it for this mashup. I just did mashup videos of ‘The Goonies’ and ‘The Breakfast Club,’ so naturally the next step would be to mashup the two movies directly. I chose ‘The Breakfast Club’ as my base and ‘The Goonies’ for props, because I felt that I could more easily place an object within the open environment of ‘The Breakfast Club,’ and also because ‘The Goonies’ has more unique props. ‘The Breakfast Club’ is mostly a character driven story; there aren’t many unique items that would be recognizable as having come from ‘The Breakfast Club’ that the characters aren’t wearing.

I scrubbed through my scenes and picked out a few options, but ultimately decided on a still of Allison. I liked the fact that there was a lot of desk surface showing on which to place objects, and I also liked the placement of the characters. This frame is a painting. It just looks nicely balanced because this frame is utilizing the rule of thirds.

Going back to ‘The Goonies,’ I similarly scrubbed through my scenes to find objects that weren’t too blurry or obscured by the characters. I decided on a lantern, a bowl of marbles, and the ship at the end credits. Once I had screenshots of everything, I headed on over to Photoshop.

In Ps, I cut and paste my objects onto my base layer and erased extraneous background image from my objects. I played with scale and placement (the bowl and lantern are easy to pick out, but I made the ship very small/subtle on the background desk). Next, I used the warp tool on the bowl of marbles, since it was sitting at a different angle in ‘The Goonies.’ Finally, I did some gaussian blurs on my objects and changed the hue and light values to better match the ‘The Breakfast Club’ environment of florescent lighting.

My final mashup:

Surprisingly, the addition of these objects-that-don’t-belong completely change the tone of this frame. Before, Allison appeared as a background character (since our attention was being drawn to what’s happening behind her), but now Allison truly feels like she’s in the foreground. The objects block out John, and as a result, our attention becomes focused on Allison. She looks deep in thought rather than someone who is avoiding confrontation. She looks like she belongs in the frame.
