Lucy Haleception

For my first mashup assignment, I did the “One Movie Watches Another” assignment. I’ve been binge-watching “Pretty Little Liars” as of late, so the first thing that came to mind was the plethora of scenes from the show where Aria is watching Film Noir, which she loves. I found a scene where she and Ezra are watching a film that had a good amount of cuts back and forth to the TV.

As for the movie I replaced it with, I thought it would be funny to feature a movie that Lucy Hale (who plays Aria) was actually in. When I searched her filmography on IMDB, I found that she was in a cheesy ABC Family made for TV movie, which was perfect, because that’s the exact opposite of what the would normally be watching.

The end result is pretty funny. Aria and Ezra’s awkwardness just adds to the comedic effect.

Poltergeist Watching the Election

In light of recent events, this assignment was pretty cathartic.  I used a scene from Poltergeist to depict the watcher and a news clip to depict what was being watched.  I utilized iMovie to edit the scenes together, making sure to layer the entirety of the audio from the news clip portion for continuity.  I think the result speaks for itself.

Signs Watches Sinister

The next assignment that I completed was One Movie Watches AnotherThe idea within this assignment was to create a video where essentially a character from one movie, watches a scene from another movie. To complete this, I had to think of a scene where a character watches a scene within a movie. I pondered this for a little bit, until I realized that one of my favorite movies, Signs, has a perfect scene displaying this. From here, I watched this scene so that I could choose another scene that fits the watching scenes reactions. For this, I landed on a scene from the movie Sinister, starring Ethan Hawke.

Now, to edit this video I used iMovie. I first downloaded the clips I was using from Youtube using ClipConverter, then I uploaded them to iMovie. From here I had to cut and move the clips I had. To generalize how I did this, I would cut the Signs video before Joaquin Phoenix‘s dramatic reactions would occur. I would then add a clip from sinister after that, so that immediately after the scary clip was over, a dramatic reaction would happen. This really made it appear as though he was actually watching this movie. So, here’s my video:

Overall, I think this video came together very well. It really satisfies the remix for this assignment and is in a sense humorous at the same time. At least it is to me, considering how many times I have seen both of these movie. This assignment really helped my video editing skills. Along with this, it also helped my creativity to put something like this together.

This assignment was worth a total of 4 stars out of 5.

Giving me a total of 12 stars for the week. I hope everyone enjoyed and stays tuned for the rest of my assignments for the week. Til next time everybody. Deuces

Entourage Movie Premier

For my “One Movie Watches Another” assignment I took a scene from “Entourage” where the whole gang is watching one of Vince’s movie premiers and mixed it with a funny animated trailer I found on Youtube.  I mashed these up using iMovie, which is a fantastic program if you are using a mac.

These are the original videos.

Here is my mashup…

Hitler likes My Django Remix

For this assignment, I made a remix inside of a remix.  We were supposed to make a movie where someone was watching a movie so I had Hitler from Inglorious Basterds watching Django.  But, Django was watching something he wasn’t supposed to be watching.  I did all my work in iMovie.

I think the film explains itself.  I recently purchased Django, so that was on my mind and I wanted to include that.  My next task was to find a movie where people were watching a movie.  Following the same theme, I went with another Quentin Tarantino Movie and found Inglorious Basterds and the cinema scene with Hitler.  Then, to change things further, I placed a clip of a guy running across a baseball field within the Django clip because he was looking at a guy in a field, as they say in the movie.  Here are the three clips unedited.

Inglorious Basterds

Django

Guy in Field

Originally, I was going to make Django watch something weird, like a drag queen running through a field, but I couldn’t find any videos of that so I gave up.  This ended up working out well enough I suppose.  I loaded everything from YouTube using iLivid.  Here’s a clip of my workspace from iMovie.

The Ring and Totoro

You know, I was honestly hopeful when Master did a few of the assignments for this week himself, that he would do the rest on his own.  Not so…

Well, I managed to gather together some clips from the Ring–where the main plot element IS someone watching a video!  Afterwards, I managed to get ahold of the old original trailer for My Neighbor Totoro, and make it look like…the scariest movie ever!

My research indicates this is not actually the case, but it sure makes for a funny clip!

One Move Watches Another

The purpose of this assignment was to combine two movie scenes in which one scene looks as if it is watching the other movie scene. After completing the project it came out pretty realistic as if she was watching the movie. The two movies I chose were from Saving Private Ryan and The Fifth Element. I’m sure if you seen both movies then this movie mashup would make quite the impression. To complete the project I used the program iMovie on the mac to cut up the scenes and edit them. I downloaded the clips off from youtube.

The Ring if Adam Sandler Directed it

What if Samantha didn’t kill every one in The Ring? Well then chances are Adam Sanlder directed it. For this assignment I took a clip from the ring, and one from Anger Management, and using imovie placed the two together.
