pineapple on pizza?

4 Stars

This is one of my favorite videos I’ve made in this class so far! It even tops last week’s “All About the 80s”. For this video, the assignment was to ask people their opinion on something. The first idea that popped into my head was: “pineapple on pizza!”.  It’s pretty cliche and basic, I’ve seen a lot of “arguments” about it on Twitter, and I thought it would be a fun and easy topic to do. What was not easy, was the editing process. It’s very different working with your own footage, compared to using someone else’s. I paid way more attention to the details this time, and since it was my own footage I was able to be more creative with it.

I tried out a new video editing software this week called Filmora. I like the Windows Movie editor but it’s extremely limited in what it can do. Filmora is incredibly user friendly, and I am super happy I chose this one. For someone who’s a beginner, I was able to quickly pick up the elements, yet it still has many advanced features that I still have yet to master!

Here’s a screenshot of my editing screen (Filmora9):

What is Your Opinion on..?

Asking my coworkers their opinion on pet euthanasia because of a family rift going on right now.

Opinions on Socks

For another assignment, I got some information about socks. My assignment was to interview people off guard about their opinions on a subject and record their reactions. I interviewed some friends tonight and recorded their reactions, and I was not disappointed.

First, I recorded everyone I wanted to interview on my iPhone, I was surprised at how good the quality was. Then I downloaded all of the clips on my computer and loaded them into iMovie. I decided to make the theme a newsreel. I put the clips in order from least to most funny. I also chose transitions and title screens after putting the clips in order.

I got pretty frustrated at one point because I wanted music to play in the background, but I could not figure out how to lower the background volume and turn up the video. It should have been a pretty easy Google, but I lost patience and gave up on the music. I think it turned out alright without it. This was very time consuming but fun.

What is YOUR opinion?

For this assignment (http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/whats-your-opinion-on/) I had to think of a question to ask a bunch of people, and find out their opinion. The question I decided to ask was “What is your opinion on the saying: “everyone needs to go to college”?”

I loved doing this assignment. The thing that was the most interesting was finding out different generations’ answers. I got teenagers’ responses, Parents’ responses and even grandparents’ responses.

I filmed everyones responses then edited and added in credits in pinnacle movie making Editor. This was worth 3 Stars

Cicadas: Not as Sweet as We Thought

What’s Your Opinion On…

Onions? Love? Politics? Ke$ha? Have you ever had people just randomly ask you what your opinion on things are? Be it pop culture or something historical, we are always wondering what people think about something specific. For this assignment, pick something that you are curious about what other people think on the matter. Go around and ask people “What is your opinion on…” and record their response. Compile the responses into one video. Have fun!

I used my iTouch to record these videos and compiled them into iMovie. I used the Mosaic transition between each of the clips to make it flow smoother. I added text to identify each person interviewed all with iMovie. I considered adding a song but I found it overpowered the voices so I left it as it was.

What is your opinion of Cicadas??
