Paying Homage to what you Care About- 3 Stars

For this assignment we were to create a short video about what we care about! This is my result:

For creating this assignment, I used the free download of Wondershare Filmora to create my short video. This was a relatively easy and free software to use and helped to make my start and end cards!

Like in the example above, all you have to do for the program is to insert which downloaded photos you would like to use, then it compiles it into a video and you choose how long you would like for each photo to run for!

After inserting my photos, I then inserted a title and credit page and set each for about three seconds. Then I added one of the free stock audios for music to go along with my video. After it was all done, I saved and exported my video to YouTube!

For this homage video, I decided to dedicate it to my lovely pet bunny, Vera. She has been in our lives for the past few years and we simply couldn’t love her enough! Hope you enjoyed my short video on her!

Paying Homage this Veteran’s Day

To begin the second week of video week, I decided to complete the Paying Homage assignment, worth 3.5 stars. To complete it, I was to find something I cared about and create a short video featuring photos of it as well as music that would match it. Because Sunday is Veteran’s Day and I have had many military family members, I decided to pay homage to the military branches represented by my family.

To create the video, I downloaded photos from my father and uncle’s Facebook pages that featured them, as well as other family members that have been in the military. I also downloaded a few of my own photos from Arlington National Cemetary to use as well. Once I compiled those photos, I used Unsplash to find stock free photos to use as the transitions between branches. For music, I found a medley for the U.S Armed Forces on Youtube that I downloaded to my computer.

To put together the short video, I used Adobe Spark on the internet. Here, I put together the photos and decided how long each photo would be featured, as well as created a credits slide where credit would be given to my contributors. Once this was complete, I downloaded the video and placed it in iMovie. In iMovie, I added the music to the video, so that each branches’ song matched the photos. After the final product was complete, I uploaded the video to YouTube and embedded it below.

Thank you to everyone who has served!

My Man

This week I decided to pay homage to my fiancé Dylan. He has been a huge source of support throughout my entire school career. We started dating in the fall of 2010 and this October will be our 6th year together! I am so blessed to have this boy in my life.

This Little Light of Mine – Week 3 Video Assignment

For this week’s video assignment I chose to do Paying Homage to what you care about.  The assignment instructs the student to pick something that they care about and make a video out of it using images and video clips.  The instructions also state to insert some appropriate music and end credits.

This digital story takes you through some of the major milestones and important moments of Oliver’s life so far.. rolling over, first bath in a big tub, giggling, meeting Santa (which is REALLY important) and many more.

The first song I chose for the video is called “Found a Peanut”. I chose this song because while I was pregnant we called the baby “peanut”, we didn’t find out the gender of “peanut” before he was born.  I chose “This little light of mine” as the second song because he is truly a little light, even on cloudy days.  The third song “The more we get together” was picked because we have such a blast when we’re together (mommy, daddy and Ollie).

I made this video using pictures and clips taken on various media devices (smartphones and our DSLR camera).   I created the title using Google Drawings and put the video together using Camtasia (using various features of the program including transitions and audio points).  I downloaded the music from Free Kids Music.

Paying homage to what you care about

Step 1. Find something you care about and gather pictures and videos about it). It could be your parents or panda bears, anything you think about often.

Step 2. Create a short film, using i movie or any program you feel comfortable with. No restrictions no limitations on how to piece together your short film.

Step 3. Place music that encompasses your thoughts on the subject matter.

Step 4. Place credits at the end letting the audience know who or what you paid homage to.

I wanted to keep this open and with as little parameters as possible. I found that overtly restricting instructions on how to do these assignments kill creativity and force most people to reject the challenge.
