I decided to tackle the “Teach me Something” Assignment from the Video Bank. I decided that I would give my tips and tricks for makeup, that seem to work for me when I decide to put it on. Now, I am no expert when it comes to makeup, just letting you know. I have some experience when I used to do makeup for weddings and events like Prom but like I said I am not an expert. This week for video week, I created 3 different videos to fulfill our 10 star requirement. To give a little background about this video; I am a visual learner and, I had a geology exam this week. Volcanoes was a tough subject for me to learn so I figure what better way to learn than a video to help me out, it just happened be 3 stars of what I needed.
To create this video I simply found images of the types of volcanoes I was going to be talking about or images to add to my audio. Next, I used my notes to elaborate the types of volcanoes and important information for viewers and I recorded this over the moving pictures of the specific types of volcanoes/ rocks.
Lastly, I simply added text to make sure the types of volcanoes I was discussing was clear and I added cross dissolves to make the picture transitions smoother. I used iMovie to create this movie and images from google.
So for this assignment, I had to talk about something I LOVE-Australian Shepherds! I had to make an informative video on something not much people know about. I doubt everyone is as obsessed with Aussies as I am, because I feel like raising one makes you especially interested in the topic of how to train them, how their temperament is…etc.
So I got some stock photos from online of some super cute aussies, and I found some of my favorite photos of my own Australian Shepherd, Declan. I used voiceover on iMovie to record my voice while I just bantered on the subject of Aussies…and I got my information on various websites and books from research throughout the years. Its memorized all up here *points to head*
I had a lot of fun with this assignment! And I finally had a reason to talk about one of my favorite subjects without anyone interrupting me to tell me no ones cares! XD

This week my huge capstone paper was due Thursday so I put all of this off until Friday.. 0/10 do not recommend. I’m exhausted. Anyways, I chose 3 really cool assignments and kind of ran with them! I chose to incorporate my capstone into these stars by creating the Tell Me Something I Don’t Know assignment & reporting on food allergies in the classroom! I chose the “report” theme on iMovie & pretty much summarized my paper. I also included links and references if anyone wanted to go see them. All of this research and putting everything together was a TON of work so I made it a 5 star assignment if anyone else felt like taking it on. You can see it here:
Next I found the 4 star Self Documentary assignment & ran with it! The creator mentioned documenting our favorite place to vacation, so I put together a picture montage of my trip to St. Thomas with my family. If you’ve never been there you HAVE to go; it’s perfect. I used iMovie’s “playful” theme for the captions, freesound.org for the intro and exiting music, and recorded a voice over on my phone. It was a lot of work but I’m proud of the result! Lastly, I did the Saving Junk to Save the Earth assignment. You guys… I’m not crafty. What was supposed to be a cute video turned into a pathetic fail. I used iMovie to edit my video & got my idea from youtube. I used only materials that would be thrown away (except the tape.) Watch my attempt at getting crafty here:
Since my character (Manny) is a nanny I tried to make all of them relevant to his profession! The report on food allergies will help him deal with food allergies if the kids he watches ever has them! Th St. Thomas video emphasized how awesome it is for kids, so this could help him figure out a place to take the kids on vacation. Lastly, the reduce, reuse, and recycle video shows that crafts are NEVER as easy as they seem & help bring some of the struggles to light. This way he knows to try crafts himself before he does it with the kids & to be totally prepared!
This assignemnt is an option to report on something that people do not know much about. Take something that you are interested in or passionate about & tell us more about it! This should be research style with sources to back up your research. You can put your video together with pictures & voice overs, or simply record yourself. Be sure to teach us something!
