This 3.5 star assignment was not exactly planned. My son had wanted Tamales and suggested I should record it for his grandma. So, this is how the assignment came about.
It’s a short 4 minute video with my son assisting in the process.
I used my iPhone to record the videos, iMovie to collaborate the videos and background music, and YouTube to upload for this post.
Welcome to the first-ever edition of Monica’s Cooking Show! In this video, we will be learning how to make mac & cheese (Annie’s Brand of Gluten-Free Mac & Cheese)! If you want to learn the basics of how to make mac & cheese, this is the video for you! I hope you enjoy the show!
So for this assignment 3 1/2 stars, I thought to create a cooking show, and feature Solenya’s favorite dish…..mashed potatoes!!!! I thought of this because My boyfriend Eric and I were going to make dinner, and I thought “What would Solenya want to eat tonight?” and then BAM! Mashed potatoes! Who doesn’t like mashed potatoes?! Solenya sure does!
I used my IPhone to take the video in my friend’s kitchen that we were hanging out in, and then I edited it on IMovie. To download the videos, I uploaded the videos to google drive then I downloaded them onto the apple computer in the HCC.
The title I put in as right on the start of us talking because I don’t like the random black screen saying what it is and then going to the video, so I made it how I liked. The ending credits are the scrolling credits I saw on IMovie. I didn’t add any audio to the video because its all us talking and I didn’t want to take away from our words. I did add an audio to the credits though. I downloaded the song “Watching Cartoons Up In My Room” off of mpsjuices.cc.
After a long week, I decided I would share with you my favorite Los Angeles-inspired breakfast dish. The breakfast burrito, prepared in a single pan. Mise en place: 1 6-8oz Sirloin steak 5 small corn or flour tortillas 1 green… Read more
It may come as a surprise, but Victoire Absinthe isn’t much of a domestic goddess.
When it comes to her domestic abilities, she kind of draws the line at basic hot drinks. She’s got enough money an suitors to fill the rest of the meals of the day, to be completely honest.
But, at the end of a long day filled with debauchery and men, it’s nice to unwind with a cup of tea.
To make the video, I took a video on my phone of myself making tea. Made sure I added some commentary, nothing to major. I added a title and end sequence as well as some background jazz, and called it a day.
For my second video assignment during weeks 11 and 12 I chose the ‘Cooking Show’ challenge. It just so happens that my 16 year old daughter had to make a dish for her culinary class so we teamed up killing two tasks with one situation. She assisted by giving commentary of the process as I filmed her in the act. Once complete I uploaded the video to YouTube, then downloaded that to my video files. I then imported the video into Movie Maker to do some slight edits. I stabilized the footage to balance some of the shakiness while filming, added some title slides, some transitions, and ending credits. The final production is featured and can be found here.
For my “Cooking Show” assignment I choose to make a burrito. Being a college student, this is pretty much the extent of my cooking. I put this movie together in iMovie and added title slides.
So I decided to show you guys how to cook my favorite breakfast meal, Toad in the Hole. It is a egg and toast based meal. Here is the video below!
So what do you guys think? The video is a little longer than all my others, but the meal takes some time to cook. To do this I I filmed myself cooking and then edited the video afterwards. Some of you may have noticed that in the middle of the video I said I might edit the middle of the video out. I decided not to because I messed up cooking the egg. I wanted to show you guys my error and what you are not suppose to do. If everything went right, then some of the cooking would have been edited out. To make this video I used 2 programs. Imovie to edit the video and audio and Microsoft Paint to make the credits and intro scenes. I insrted audio over the intro and credits and watched the video if it needed any more cleaning up. I feel this video tuned out great.
So what do you guys think about my cook? Should I become a profossinal chef?
This assignment should have been more than 3 stars. This is the one that took the most filming, editing, and time. I added both an opening as well as credits. I filmed with my webcam and my camera phone. There was a lot of uploaded and time involved in this.
Once it was on movie maker I had to go through and cut out A LOT of material and insert a handful as well. I added music and transitions along the way.
In this recipe I show the viewer how to make Pumpkin Maple Cupcakes from scratch. It was easy to fill, but a pain to edit together. I wanted it to me informational and fun. I tried to include as much as I could without making it too long. I got very frustrated while making this because of all the work that went into it.
I am so glad I finished it and I hope people like it was much as the effort I put into it. I think people would be able to watch this and make the cupcakes themselves with out confusion.
I am a cooking show junkie. When offered this assignment, I knew it was right up my alley! I had my daughter record me making a chocolate cake for Thanksgiving. Along with giving the recipe and walking through the preparation step by step, I also added baking tips, a little nostalgia, and advice on nutrition. My son helped me splice the flipcamera segments together. We then posted the video on YouTube. Bon appétit!
Deep Dark Chocolate Cake
1 3/4 c. unsifted all-purpose flour, 2 c. sugar, 3/4 c. Hershey’s Cocoa, 1 1/2 t. baking soda, 1 1/2 t. baking powder, 1 t. salt
2 eggs, 1 c. milk, 1/2 c. vegetable oil, 2 t. vanilla, 1 c. boiling water
Combine dry ingredients in large mixer bowl. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla; beat at medium speed 2 minutes. Remove from mixer; stir in boiling water (batter will be thin). Pour into two greased and floured (I line mine with wax paper) 9″ or three 8″ layer pans or one 13″ x 9″ pan. Bake at 350? for 30-35 minutes for layers, 35-40 minutes for 13 x 9 pan, or until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes on rack. Remove from pans; cool completely.
Mocha Frosting
3 1/2 c. confectioners sugar, 1/2 c. cocoa, 1/2 t. salt, 1/3 c. butter (I usually use a whole stick and add a little more sugar and cocoa if too thin), 1/3 c. hot coffee (or hot milk—-I use coffee with a touch of evaporated milk), 1/2 t. vanilla
Combine sugar, cocoa, and salt. Cream butter and vanilla. Add sugar mixture alternately with hot coffee, beating til smooth.
