Remake of Movie Intro

80’s film

Looking through the video bank assignments, I found remaking of movie intros, 3.5 stars. I thought this could be fun. I thought which 80s film could I possibly remake so I chose Top Gun.

I looked for fighter jet videos and recorded a short clip via Quicktime and saved it to my desktop.

Brought up iMovie, moved over the short clip and began entering the names of the characters on the movie.

Then, I added an intro clip and an ending clip. I kept with the original song of the movie, adjusting the beginning and ending sounds.

Hope you enjoy!

Redux

So I did the assignment- Opening Credits Redux (Worth 4 stars). At first, I had no clue or direction of what opening credits I wanted to redo, then I had an epiphany- let me remake the credits to an iconic TV Show- Friends. I will admit it is not at all as good as the originally season openers used but it did give me an introduction on how to use the basic tools in my Windows movie maker (and it gave me a good excuse to sing “I’ll be There for you” on repeat).

let the fun begin
let the fun begin.

How did I put together this opening video? One word. Two Syllables and a program almost everyone has used once in their life- Powerpoint.

Yes, I am a plain Jane and used Powerpoint, but it proved useful in developing my video.

Now with this I used the “Insert tab” to fill in the background to a more appealing color. Then, I typed into the middle of the title slide the title of the show. I then went to the insert tab again and proceeded to add about seven more slides to introduce the cast.

The insert tab is the most vital tab in this process you can add color to the background and insert the text for the actors names.

The insert tab in this was my best friend, I added the cast pictures, screencaps, and any more pizazz I wanted to add to it. Then I clicked File and hit Save As. This is the most important part because with this, you want to save the file as a .JPG NOT a .WMV, this enables you to upload it later to a movie editor.

Now, I used the Windows Live Movie Maker, as opposed to iMovie. The first thing I did with this was upload my JPG files onto the program.

Example video.- not my own. But I did circle the music tools for later reference.

It should look something like this- a sort of frame by frame object. After I played throughout the video a few times to see a smooth transition I then added the music. Now, there is an add music option- but you need to have it in Mp3 before adding it to the video. I also circled the “Music Tools” at the top because this enables the music( or opening theme) to play at the right timing.

Then, I uploaded it to Vimeo…which at the moment does take a while to process which is the only problem I seem to have run into with this assignment.

Opening Credits Redux for Letters to Juliet

Opening Credits Redux

In film, the design of opening credits can be an art unto itself. For this assignment, take an existing movie’s opening credits, and redo it in an alternate style that still honors the plot and style of the movie– or make it radically different.
See examples of the redone credits for The Good The Bad and The Ugly and Hitchock’s Rear Window.
Include in your blog post a clip or screenshots of the original credits to show the difference between that and what you create.

This is a 4 star assignment

I chose to do this assignment because while watching movies watching the opening credits is one of my favorite parts.  It’s fun to see how they are done.  I have noticed that in more recent movies there are no opening credits.  It just shows the title of the movie.  Sometimes at the end they have more of an opening credits scene such as the movie the Avengers.  I think the credits are very important in the movie because there are so many people that help to make the movie go really well.

The movie I decided to redo the credits for it Letters to Juliet.  It is one of my favorite movies that is fairly recent that has opening credits.  I first watched the opening credits of the movie so that I knew the right order and names of who was in the movie as well as who produced it. This movie is a typical love story and for the opening credits I want to change the background images to show more of the title of the movie.  In the original opening credits that you can view here you can see here there are multiple pictures being shown of love that introduce the credits.  I decided to keep the same script font for the words, but the images I added were different.  They are pictures of writing letters and at the very end a picture of Romeo and Juliet.  Writing letters is a story itself because when you write a letter you are telling someone else a story.  For the song in the background I decided to use the song Listen to Your Heart by DHT.  Letters to Juliet really relates to this song because it’s about following your heart to make the right choice in who you really love.  I already had the song in iTunes so it was easy just to upload it to Window’s Movie Maker. When formatting the credits I tried to organize them so they would appear at different places throughout the video.  Listen to Your Heart is a long song and I only included half of it in this video.  I faded out the sound at the end of the video so it would  sound more like an ending.  I also made the color of the font red because it’s the color I associated with love. Such as how Valentine’s Day colors are always red and pink.  At the end of my video I added a credits page saying that I made the video and that it is for ds106 and I credited the song and where I found the images.

The links below are to the pictures I found:

Letter 1, letter 2, letter 3, letter 4, letter 5,  Romeo and Juliet

Review of 2 previously done assignments:  A lot of the already done assignments for this were either deleted by the user or their blog was no longer active and the internet could not open the page.  There were very few to choose from to review but I did find two to review.

1. The Good the Bad and the Ugly credit remake: I have never seen this movie but I thought that this video was really well done.  I really liked how the pictures came up like they were being painted on the screen.  I also really liked the music went well with the timing of the words.  This video was really well done.

2. The Notebook:  I love the movie and book the Notebook.  I thought this credits redux was really good.  I really liked the beach scene and music.  After watching this video I then went to watch the original opening credits.  The credits redux really defines how the original credits opened up.  I also really like the font of the credits redux.  This video was really well done, my once concern is that the title of the movie didn’t appear at the same time as the original opening.  Though I really like how the title appears on the rock at the end of the video.

Below is my embedded YouTube video, as always any comments and feedback is appreciated.

I came up with this using the caption effects of Windows Live Movie Maker and then I found a poster online that was different.

vim tsn credits

The making of this video took a few steps. First, I had to download Movavi’s Screen Capture Studio to record my laptop screen while I typed. Next, I put together the names from the opening credits of The Social Network. I then had to type it out perfectly while capturing my screen. Finally, I edited it all together, added a little background music (In Motion from the movie’s soundtrack), and done!

The hardest part of the whole process was typing the credits out. The whole time I was typing, all I could think was, “Don’t. Mess. Up. Don’t mess up. Don’t mess up.” Luckily, it only took a couple of takes for me to type it all perfectly at once.

When I saw this assignment, The Social Network popped into my head immediately. That’s mainly because pretty much anything can make The Social Network pop into my head immediately. However, I thought the perfect way to redo the opening credits while staying true to the film was to embrace the coding aspect of it and use command-line and back it all up with a track off the movie score. It may look simple and sort of boring, but the command-line environment is where programmers thrive. In a way, the seemingly blandness of the whole thing is misunderstood by outsiders the way Mark Zuckerberg was misunderstood in the movie. (How’s that for a tie-in?)

spartacus vengeance opening credits

this is my version of what the opening credits for spartacus vengeance would look like. i did this for fun especially seeing how spartacus has quickly become my favorite tv show

Opening Credit Redux

I chose to do the opening credits for the show married with children, i love this show! They are not the most conventional family and so i thought a way that would make it funny is if i inserted some photos of families that were happy and laughing together, and then at the end it goes back to them and how really unhappy he is with his life and family. Enjoy !!

Flipper

*For some reason the embedding link made the video very large and it gets cut off. To view the video, please click the video to go to the youtube location. Or click here.*

For my first video assignment, I decided to relive an old classic – Flipper. I havent seen this movie in years, but I remember liking it. I was able to find some interesting clips online, so I decided to remake the opening credits.

I had a lot of fun working with this assignment, although  I found it very tedious. Putting in the  credits took forever, while the actual video editing (importing, cutting, animations, etc) did not take very long to do.

Tutorial:

To make this video I used Windows Live Movie Maker, which made it rather simple.

1st) Find some nice video clips that you think you can use. Its better to have an idea of what you want to do, rather than doing it on the fly (In my opinion at least)

2) Import the video clip by simply dragging and dropping it into the program.

* From here you can go many different ways, but I will just go into detail about what I did*

3) I first played my video clip to look for any specific moments where the text I will be putting in would stand out the best. I also cut any unwanted segments by sliding the cursor to the beginning of the unwanted segment, hit split (Edit, Split), then again at the end of the segment. Click the segment and delete it. From here you can piece together other segments and add animations and transitions to make it smoother.

4) To add text, go to Home, Add Caption (next to Snapshot) and adjust it accordingly.

The Walking Dead Opening Credits Remake

I really enjoyed the following assignment. It was to take the opening credits of a film (in this case I took one for a TV show) and redo it in an alternate style. I redid the opening credits of The Walking Dead, a popular TV show on AMC that just finished its second season.

I kept the same basic spooky feel to it, however I added actual footage of zombies from the show into the intro (something you don’t see in the original). The music was similar, however not the exact as the original one. First, I clipped some footage off of episodes from the show and converted it – which was really tedious since vegas was being picky on what video format to accept! I then used vegas effects to bring down the saturation as well as add some tint and grain to the footage. I added the texts in different scenes and used the timeline in vegas to give it a little motion. The last clip showing The Walking Dead title was actually from the original opening credits. Finally I replaced the original audio track from the footage clips with the tune.

My first ever video editing!

For the first video assignment, I decided to redo the introduction for the notebook. http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/opening-credits-redux/ Why I did what I did?!? First things first, I found a video that I liked. I apologize for the Serenity Channel logo in the bottom, it was already on the video and I didn’t want to cut anything off. [...]
