The poor post office

Panel 1: Mail! Oh boy, I bet it’s from one of my friends- look at that cute envelope!

Panel 2: Glitter… What did I ever do to them? The cute envelope was full of lies and falsehoods :(

In this three-star assignment, I was to show a change of emotion in two panels. I wanted to use some pop culture and incorporate the “Send Glitter to Your Enemies” guy. Imagine getting what you thought was a nice letter from an old friend, only to learn that you are their enemy! On top of all of that, you now have to clean up all this damn glitter. It sucks to be you.

I used my phone’s forward-facing camera and the headphones as a cable. My neighbors let me borrow their glitter (art kids amirite), and I used my roommate’s envelope. My side table caught the glitter, and only 5% fell into the air, never to leave.

Even StickĀ figureĀ could have mix emotion as well. i created a story that could or has happen to one of us. The sun could be out very hot and your are veryy happy and out of nowhere it starts to rain and you have noĀ Umbrella. i

Emotions

The All Too Familiar Feeling

The “A change of emotion(in two panels)” assignment immediately attracted me as I knew exactly what to draw. The two-panel drawing portrays the cyclical, year in, year out struggle of being a New York Jets fan. I am all too familiar with the heart-wrenching feeling of your sports team falling short. One day these two panels will be proven incorrect, one day!

A change of emotion

I simplified my colors to emphasize the emotions. At first, the Kicker is sick and green with anticipation, showing that he has no confidence in his kick, and then he misses and he’s blue with disappointment.

A change of emotion (in two panels)

_cokwr: Write and illustrate (photograph, sketch, video sample, etc) a two panel story that describes a change of emotion. For example. Panel 1: A man receives some suprising news about a loved one. Panel 2: He is deeply saddened. Panels can contain simple captions or annotation. Extra points if the emotional change is a 'mixed emotion'., _cpzh4: Visual, _chk2m: rowan_peter, _ciyn3: 19, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

A change of emotion

A change of emotion (in two panels)!

This will be my last work of ds106 assignment.
The description says…

Write and illustrate (photograph, sketch, video sample, etc) a two panel story that describes a change of emotion.

Here’s what I did!
This is a picture that I took a year ago at a game center in Tokyo.
I tried to express the change of emotion through the change of colors. I don’t know if it works but I hope it does!

I used Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0.

Mixed emotions of drawing

Here is my two panels of changes in emotion.  Sorry for the messy handwriting, here’s what it says if it’s not legible:
Day 1: Happy
“Uwah~ So pretty!  I’m finally finished, so much hard work!”

Day 2: Angry
“F#@? IT! I HATE IT!  ALL THAT TIME WASTED!  NOW I HAVE TO REDRAW!”

This is based off the last assignments where I explained that when I am in my drawing phase, there are times where I’m satisfied with the image at one point, and then the next time I see it (usually the next day since I tend to draw late at night) I see the flaws, and have to redraw them again.

The second panel is an exaggeration of the feeling I get when I’m not satisfied with a drawing.  No, I don’t flip my laptop in anger, instead I just argue with myself, wondering why I didn’t see the flaws from before.  Usually sadness follows anger; I get sad thinking about why I can never draw consistently like a few artists I admire.

In then end, after I redraw the image and satisfies me, I feel much better than before.  It’s like, we do go through some small difficulties, but it would be worth it when the final product is complete.

Eff you Audacity

Change of Emotion: the frustration and sadness that Audacity can cause. Special Credit to Megan Mc who let me take her photos!

A Change of Emotion

I decided to try out Rowan Peterā€™s visual assignment where you have to ā€œwrite and illustrate (photograph, sketch, video sample, etc) a two panel story that describes a change of emotionā€. I ended up creating two stories because I liked this assignment so much. The first story is about my mixed-yellow lab Abby. The second story is about Frank, who is the dog of my in-laws-to-be.

Abby:

Here is my smile!

Phew, I’m pooped. It’s too hot out here to be smiling.

Frank:

Ahh, relaxation. I’m in heaven.

Hey, what are you looking at?
