Demotivate? Observation? Same?

Visual Assignment Star Count: 3

Okay so I did this visual assignment next:

At first I was a little confused about how to make the image, but then I tried this website, and it was as simple as…..toast.

Demotivate Me! If at First . . .

Assignment (Visual) 191: Demotivational Posters 2 stars

I’ve been around long enough to remember Steven Covey’s first edition, Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. I think there may be eight now so I’m sure that missing one is why I failed. Or that the bureaucracy tried to cram effectiveness training down our throats.

Covey’s work, I’m sure, led to the first wave of motivational posters. So I get some degree of adverse pleasure in creating my first demotivational poster.

Disclaimer: The quote is not mine but was identified as anonymous every place I saw it on the Web so no one gets credit. I would like to thank Fletchy182, somewhere in Germany, for sharing some fun photos of his first dive. There are no during or post shots, so I’ll just hope he was successful on his first try.

I had noted that Marcey recommended PixMonkey and I checked it out and decided that my old standby PowerPoint would serve this purpose well. I’ve done my share of PowerPoint dissing but for simple designs that you can save as jpegs this tool works just great. No need to bring in the high-powered programs. Besides, I find that when working with teachers, many of them tech nubies like me, that the sight of a familiar tool can be comforting.

While checking out PixMonkey, I came across a set of “toys” for visual editing that has such potential for making many of these visual assignments quick and easy for everyone. Yes, I realize that part of the motivation is to learn new tools, but for K-12 teachers who want first to focus on some fun, clever activities and later on tools, BigHugeLab is a real find. I’ll be sure to share.

Here’s my BigHugeLab-generated demotivational poster. I like that the photo stretches across the poster though it was severely cropped. Also, like the double mat look that would take me some extra time to accomplish.

Demotivate Yourself

This assignment was a lot of fun I really enjoyed it! I used paint to make this one. Great Assignment

demotavate

Demotivation, anyone?

Image

It was great fun making my own demotivating poster using these instructions and it appealed to my cynical side.

I thought that the photo I took of the archer at a medieval reenactment might come in handy at some point and here we are, the perfect metaphor.  The second line was more of a challenge – I guess it’s all about adding to the headline in a clever way, not sure if I achieved that, but it’s suitably demotivating anyway!

(2 star visual assignment for ds106)

CT 101 Homework, 10 Star Assignment

1)What’s the meme?, 2 stars

Just took a photo and Photoshopped the text on.

2) Wiggle Stereoscopy, 3 stars

I took two photos of my television, and then looped them together with http://picasion.com/.

3) Demotivate Yourself, 2 stars

Just photoshopped text over photo of Billy Cundiff, who missed game tying field goal in AFC Title Game this year. Used paint.net for 1 and 3.

4) Say It Like the Peanut Butter, 3 stars

Took three seconds from the Pulp Fiction Brett Scene that I found on youtube, then went to the seen gifsoup.com, where I have an account, and made this loop.

Demotivated

I don’t always make meme’s, but when I do, they’re demotivational posters. So when I saw the demotivate assignment for ds106 I got a little bit excited. At first I wanted to do something frisbee related. When people lay out for discs they know they can’t get to in Ultimate it’s called a gratuitous layout. I wanted to do something playing off of that but I couldn’t find the right picture so I kept thinking. I had a ton of ideas. Too many really. I would think of one only to ditch it for the next thought to pop into my head. I actually started a week ago and didn’t settle on one until today. I’m not entirely sold on it but I can’t afford to put it off any longer.

I first encountered Beer 30 last year. It was honestly the worst thing I had ever had the misfortune of drinking. Even though I was at a party I didn’t even finish the first one I tried. Ever since then it’s been my one-up for people who say that Bud Light/Natty/insert cheap beer here is the worst thing ever.

Making the poster was extremely easy. Just type what I want it to say and upload the picture. Presto! I’ve now demotivated anyone who cares to search for Beer 30 on Memebase.

Demotivate yourself!

ds106 Visual Assignments 191 "Demotivate Yourself"

Here is my little puppy Choco!!!!! I took her out the other day and she looked so cute so I took a picture!
She was so lazy that she didn’t even bother herself to move for a little bit, or I guess she was too comfortable! hahahahaha. It looks fun and I wish I could do that too! lol. Hope you will like it ;)

DS106 Visual Assignments191 "Demotivative yourself!"

I remember the time when I took this picture… The location was exactly in front of TUJ!!! He was so cute with this stuffed animal, but also I got sorrowful impression. Why do even dogs have to carry something? I bet he doesn’t want to. Maybe he wants to but… oh well. This picture inspired me to make this poster which demotivate myself. to live life. I’m just kidding.
Hope you like it!! ?
