Recreate A Famous Movie Scene

For this assignment I was to recreate a famous movie scene. I decided to go with the shower scene from psycho for a couple of reasons. I wanted to use a black and white movie so i could play with shadows when taking the photo. I feel like this scene is so classic that most people would recognize it.

Recreate a Famous Movie Scene! 2.0

I had already done this visual assignment in the past week, but when the opportunity came again to do the assignment I couldn’t resist!

Hermione-Granger-Harry-Potter

The original photo of Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) is from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1. This is a picture of Hermione attempting to guard Harry and Ron from attackers while she casts spells. This moment meant a lot to me because it shows how strong a girl like Hermione really is, so I decided to recreate it with my friend. I used stage makeup as the blood and a kitchen utensil as the wand!

Visual Assignment – Recreate a Famous Movie Scene

My final assignment for the week was to recreate a famous movie scene. This one was festering in me all week, and I was having the hardest decision on which scene to recreate. As usual, I can only decide on something when it’s down to the final moments. With the help of some family, I went with this scene from Forrest Gump.

Now, we had one problem when recreating this: it was 8 PM, and the sun had gone down long ago. We had to improvise, and used the lights of a car to light up a bench at our house. The picture didn’t come out amazing, but for a last minute effort, I’d say it wasn’t too bad. My mom actually had a box of chocolates with a ribbon on it by coincidence, so that was one of the few props true to the movie.

Star Wars Recreation

In this visual assignment, I had to recreate a famous scene from a movie with a picture. After choosing the famous scene where Darth Vader chokes someone using the force in Star Wars. I enlisted the help of my dad and mom for the picture. My dad is playing Darth Vader, my mom is the camera operator, and I’m the guy being choked in his seat.

You Feelin’ Lucky?

Dirty Harry Impersonation

“You’ve gotta ask yourself one question: ‘Do I feel lucky?’ Well, do ya, punk?”

Dirty Harry is a classic. So is Clint Eastwood in general, honestly. You gotta love the guy. Cowboy to ruthless cop, he’s the man who gets the job done.

I chose to complete this assignment more or less so I could dress up and pretend to be an angry ’70s cop. Hopefully I got my intended result! Here’s the original picture:

Dressing up took a bit of effort, as I’m lacking a red sweater vest and gray blazer, but I decided to take what I had to try out the look. While I was getting everything ready, I realized that my hair does something similar to Harry’s when it’s just dried and blown back. The hardest part was posing and getting the shot right; I had to set up the camera myself and take about a hundred photos until I realized how I should be positioned. But after I shifted around in front of a camera a whole bunch, I finally got a couple of good shots.

I realized while doing this how much effort getting a shot as iconic as this is. I wonder how long the actual cinematography took to make Dirty Harry look so cool (because the wrong angle definitely can make your head look too small next to your finger gun). I really appreciate cameramen in films a lot more now.

Recreating the Shining

So we all know and love The Shining

Here’s a picture from the original and the one my boyfriend and I recreated for the assignment

Here’s Tierra!

For this assignment we were to recreate a scene from a movie. I picked The Shining because some of the best memes on the internet are made from those movie scenes. Clearly I couldn’t have an axe going through the wall, nor did I have a knife that big but this is my recreation!

Hakuna Matata

One of the visual assignment bank posts we had to do this week was to recreate a famous movie scene. Of course the first movie that came to mind to recreate in a picture was the Titanic, but I decided to go with something a little different. This assignment instructs you to simply recreate the picture and I picked to do… The Lion King!!! We own it on VHS and we have a cat so I thought why not?! I put the movie in our ancient VHS player in my basement and fast forwarded it to the correct scene and then paused it. After this, I went and found my cat Snowball who is 14 years old (he is also 24 pounds, but it’s hard to tell in the picture). I had my younger sister take the picture for me on my iPhone as I held Snowball up to recreate the picture. The instructions for this assignment told you to post the original picture next to the one you made, but since the original is in my picture I did not do that. Hope you enjoy! Snowball did not!

I really like how the picture came out. The quality isn’t the best because we had the lights dimmed so you can see the TV, but overall I think I did a good job!

Recreate a Famous Movie Scene

Pose as a part of your favorite movie scene, or just a famous movie scene in general. From the Titanic to Jurassic World, there are plenty of memorable images that would be fun to recreate. The more creative (or ridiculous), the better! Post the original beside your own once you’re done. Don’t forget to mention where the original comes from and why you chose to use it!
