The Crazy Bunch

I decided to do this assignment, worth 4 stars, because I really love my friends and enjoy showcasing that in whatever way I can.

This collage displays a couple of my awesome friends during a scavenger hunt we did in the mall at the beginning of the summer. We met 2 random guys who are also pictured in this collage who partook in our hunt. The guy “eating the shoe” (weird) is someone we met in Saxon’s and I decided to use him because my friends were so adamant about someone eating a shoe in the hunt. He thought the scavenger hunt was funny, so he allowed us to take his picture.

The old man that looks like he’s whipping my friends was asked to act like he was walking them like dogs, but he decided not to do that, so we got the awesome picture. It’s hilarious because that’s really what I imagine an old man who was angry at annoying college students doing. The man was hilarious and made us laugh!

I called the collage the crazy bunch because we’re aways doing crazy things and trying to find what crazy thing we can do next.

The Real Life Hardy Boys

For my second assignment bank assignment this week, I decided to complete the We’re the Real Life Brady Bunch! assignment. Because my last name is Hardy, it has always been a running joke in my family that the Hardy Boys books are based on my family. Even when my dad and his brothers were young, they had a toybox that was painted with Hardy Boys on the front of it. Because of this, when I saw the Brady Bunch assignment, I thought it was perfect to display the Hardy Boys in my family in a Brady Bunch-esque way. The Bradys’ have eight family members (discluding Alice in the middle) and I have eight males in my family, so the opportunity was perfect. My collage displays my uncles Geoff and Chris, my dad Greg, my brother Zach and my cousins Jordan, Tristan, Ryan, and Evan.

When the boys get together, it’s all fun and games, especially for the adults. You would never guess that the adults aren’t actually 5-year-olds if you came to one of our family events.

The Crazy Bunch

We are the real life Brady Bunch! – 4 Stars

BeFunky Collage

For this visual assignment I had to showcase my family in the Brady Bunch format. I decided to call mine, “The Crazy Bunch” because we are a crazy family! Although they are crazy, I wouldn’t change it for the world. Everyone in my family would do anything for one another. I have a very large family, but I decided to choose the family members that I am closest to. My grandma, Mom, other grandma, sister, grandpa, myself, my cousin, and my Dad. My mom and grandmothers do not like their photos taken so it took me awhile to find ones of them. I tried to pick images that my family members were looking away or around to make it appear more like the Brady Bunch collage.

For this assignment I used https://www.befunky.com/create/collage/ to create my collage. I chose the 9 square collage and uploaded my images to each square. I lastly added in the font in the middle. It did not let me put filters on my images so I had to upload the whole collage to flickr and edit it there.

I thought this assignment was really fun. I enjoyed looking through pictures of my family and bringing back memories of each one.

Assignment Bank 1 (Week Two):

We’re The Real Life Brady Bunch:

When I saw this task in the assignment bank, I automatically knew I had to do it. Although I don’t have a huge immediate family like the Brady Bunch – I do have a huge “framily.”  “Framily” is the term the eight of us created to resemble our unique bond. The made-up term isn’t as complicated as it is to pronounce. We simply just combined the words: friend and family. We all agreed that we were more than friends – we were family.  We all met our freshman year at the University of Mary Washington. Some of us lived in the same dorm, some of us were roommates, and some of us just met due to acquaintances. How we came together isn’t as important as the fact that we did indeed come together. These people mean the world to me and I don’t think I would have had a better college experience without them by my side.

When it came to creating this Brady Bunch certified collage – the process was fairly simple. I used the website befunky.com and easily found a 3×3 grid that was perfect for recreating the infamous Brady Bunch logo. I had the most fun picking out the pictures I wanted to use. The pictures and name stem from the fact that all eight of us love memes. We will all secretly take pictures of each other, make memes out of them, and then post it to our massive group chat. So of course, the most difficult part of this assignment was selecting the pictures I wanted to use as there are easily over 500 of them to chose from.

Disclaimer: Stef, Wendy, Courtney, Ricky, John, Danny, or Jack if you’re reading this, I am sorry for publicly meme-ing you on the internet. I love you all.

Assignment Bank

This is my first assignment bank project for the week. The goal of this assignment was to remake the iconic Brady Bunch cover and replace it with your own friends or family. It was rate 3 stars for difficulty. I used photocollage.com to make this collage.  Here is the link to the original assignment: http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/were-the-real-life-brady-bunch/

collage-2016-09-11-2

The people included in this collage are my mom (top left), my sister (middle left), my dad (bottom left), my roommate Sam (bottom middle), my dog Dean (bottom right), my cousin Caroline (middle right), and my friend Katie (top right). I picked these people because they are all very important to me and help make me the person I am today. I titled our group Puppy and the Funky Bunch because I thought it was funny and perfectly described all of us.

A Very Brady Visual Assignment: The CoZy Clan

My first Visual Assignment was super fun to make!  For this assignment, I was tasked with mimicking the well-known Brady Bunch family photo with my loved ones and coming up with a catchy alliteration for a name.

They didn’t know that the CoZ (AKA Cozy) Family has been in the making and gracing social media in the form of cute pic stitches and catchy hashtags for over three years now.  I’m really proud of my creation!

Visual Assignment Week 1

So, the Cozy Clan is made up of (Co)fields and (Z)ahralbans.  Every square contains the bust of someone I love and cherish.  The first column on the left starts at the top with the dearest love of my life, Brent.  His optimism is infectious and his dance moves are smooth.  Coming in just below him is the boy who will be the sweetest, smartest (and most likely hairiest) lady killer when he grows up.  That sweet Jack makes me feel loved every time I’m around him.  Just below him is his twin, polar opposite, and one of my best friends, Aviley.  I’m so lucky to get to help this little girl grow into an amazing young lady.

The second column from top to bottom begins with the most recent addition to the long line of Russells.  RZ4 (AKA Quattro) is the toughest, smartest, sassiest, and kindest boy I’ve ever met and the best nephew an aunt could ever have.  At the bottom is my pops, RZ2, who I would be completely lost without.  If there’s an age when it’s not appropriate to call your dad to solve all your problems (car trouble, how to mash potatoes, bad dreams, etc), I hope I never live to see it.  The top of the last column is my big brother Russ, RZ3.  Our love-hate relationship will always be unbalanced- way more love than hate, and I can’t thank him enough for the life lessons he taught me early on (ˆˆ??<><>BA).  Just below, is my sweet, sweet baby brother/son Taylor.  I raised him more like my own, and I’m incredibly proud of the marine/man he’s become with and without me.  Finally, there is a special love reserved for my precious fur baby, Tic Tac.  She’s spunky, intelligent, and 96% crazy.

The basic picture was simple to make.  I used the Layout App that I usually use for Instagram posts.  It’s super easy to select your pictures, choose a layout, and edit and manipulate the pictures.  I was lucky that the limit was 9 pictures.  Phew.  Then, I got creative.  I took a blank black picture and moved it to the center square.  I transferred the picture to my laptop so I could add the text.  For online picture editing, I use BeFunky.com because of its simplicity and many free options.  To get the perfect text, I downloaded the Brady Bunch font from Dafont.com.  And that was that!

Looking forward to my next assignment!
