Sweet Creature

I’m not sure why I chose this assignment. I’m not a big concert fan, but I will say after seeing so many TikToks of people at a Harry Styles concert… I want to go. However, you will NEVER catch me paying that much money to see him unless I won the lottery or something. So, this is as close as I’ll ever get. (I also put myself at the very front, because if I were to see him that’s where I’d be, I’m not paying hundreds of dollars for nosebleeds).

This assignment was honestly extremely easy. I took a photo, cut out the background from it. Searched up “Harry Styles concert,” then stuck myself on the photo. And yet again… I used my trusty PicsArt app to do all of this. (It honestly has so many features for being free, so I have to take advantage).

Concert You Want to be At

Maybe you have noticed but I kinddddda love Cyndi Lauper so obviously if I had the opportunity to attend any concert it would be a Lauper concert. I started by finding a picture of a Cyndi Lauper concert and I decided on this one, which yes, I know is not from the 80’s (hence the cellphone) but cut me some slack, decent concert photos from that era are a bit difficult to find/work with.

I hate taking my picture so I dug up photo from over the summer that I though would work to capture my enthusiasm for Cyndi Lauper.

It took a little brain power to figure out sizing and yeah I’m a little small but overall, it makes me giggle so I guess that’s good.

Concert You Want To Be At

(2 stars & related to 80’s theme)

This was my first time using any photoshop app and to be honest, it took me a while to figure out. I decided to use Gimp because it was free and what professor Bond suggested. I wanted to relate this assignment to our theme the 80’s, so I photoshopped my face into a picture of Journey at a concert. I do like Journey and would love to go to a concert one day.

I know it is not the best photoshop job but I think it is pretty good for a first time photoshopper!

Dream Concert

I would have loved to go to a Prince concert

Week 2 Assignment Bank Finds

Concert I’d want to be at? 1980s Bad Tour

At one point in time all I did was live and breathe Micheal Jackson, as he remains an icon in our music culture. The one concert I would’ve wanted to be at was his, as they were electric and adventurous (at one point I had memorized the opening act number and dance sequence to the Bad world tour concert). I was extremely devastated when he passed, as he passed away in August of 2009 and my father had surprised my sister and I in May of that year with tickets to see his “This Is It” tour in October. For this assignment I copied a photo from google and imported into photoshop for my mac, where I then also imported a selfie of myself (and how I would react at a concert of his) and with the cut tool removed the background of my photo to look as if I were an audience member. (I learned that I still obviously need a bit more work in photoshop)

DS106 Reacts: Me hiding (procrastinating) from my work; me when it sneaks up on me.

This week I chose to watch the movie Batman, that was released in 1989 as I found it interesting for being such a superhero fan, I had never watched any of the Batman films (I guess you can say I’m more of a Marvel fan.) I also found it interesting that it was a top grossing film in the 80s, so I thought why not? I found myself fascinating over the actor who played the Joker, Jack Nicholsan, in this movie and began to compare it to the Joker movie that came out recently, who starred the actor Joaquin Phoenix, and I’d say both actors executed their role excellent. There was one particular scene I found amusing when the robbers thought they were safe, then all of a sudden Batman appears and they start to run for their lives. I thought that would be a funny meme or gif, thus when I found this assignment in the assignment box It was perfect. I screen recorded this certain scene off of Amazon Prime videos (the streaming device I watched the movie on), and turned it into a gif through a gif generator app called GIF Maker, and viola! I can make my own gifs now, a useful skill I have gained this week.  Now I just need to learn how to embed them on here (which is why I posted it to twitter.)

Haiku: Gotham

Gotham filled with crime
Know who will arrive in time
Batman saves the night

I found this to be a perfect assignment as I had just received a refresher on haikus from a daily create assignment, so I took the opportunity to incorporate my 80s movie I chose to watch and well, created this masterpiece (Joking! I’m a joker, if you haven’t already noticed. See what I did there?)

Bon Jovi 1984

This week, I decided to do a visual assignment and I wanted to keep the 80s theme going. The goal of this assignment was to photoshop me at a concert. I chose Bon Jovi for two reasons, first because I love this picture and second because it goes along with the 80s theme.

Enjoy this photo!

Living out my Childhood

For my final assignment this week, I decided to go with Concert You Want To Be At. When I found this assignment, I was so excited to try my skills out at photo shopping. I love music and especially going and seeing musicians live! So I decided to put myself in a concert from the 80s.

As I mention in my first post about the 80’s , I grew up listen to different 80s rock band in the car with my dad. This made me want to put myself in a concert, with an 80s rock band!

The first thing I did was to find a picture of the band ACDC that would be a good back drop for me to insert a picture of myself onto. I look for a couple minutes and finally landed on this picture of and ACDC concert.

Once I had found this photo, my next step was taking a photo of myself that would work on this photo. This task was a little more complicated than I originally thought it would be. I took a couple of different ones, but ended up with this as my final picture.

Now that I had both of my pictures, I was time to lay them over each other. I do not have any previous background with photoshop or anything like this, so this was a lot hard than I thought it would be. I first cropped the photo of myself and then pasted the photo onto the background of the concert. This was my final outcome!

This project challenged me in a lot of different ways, but I am glad that I got to expand my skill set and got be creative!

Concert You Want to Be At

For this assignment bank, I chose to do one of the visual assignments. The instructions for this challenge was to photoshop yourself into a concert you’ve always wanted to attend. I chose to “attend” an Elton John concert. Not only do I really enjoy his music, he also went on his “1980 World Tour” in the 80s which matches our theme for the class. Although the picture I used to photoshop myself in was not from that particular tour, I still thought it was fitting.

I really enjoy using photoshop so I really enjoyed this challenge. I am definitely a novice at photoshop so I am hoping ill be able to use photoshop more throughout this class to keep improving my skills.

Chillin’ with Freddie

For today’s visual assignment I needed edit a photo to add myself to a concert I would like to be at. I’ve only been to a few concerts, but I’m certainly not pick when it comes to my music choices. To keep up with the 80’s theme I wanted to make it a concert of one of the greats, my main man Freddie Mercury. I’m just along for the ride while he’s killing it on stage.

^this is me in case you could tell

I may be a bit bigger than the rest of the crowd, but only because he let me listen from right against the stage. I think it turned out pretty well for how little photo editing practice I have.

It’s HIM I Love! [??]

This visual assignment challenged my Photoshopping skills. And by that, I mean, I have no Photoshopping skills! So this was definitely a tough one.

The goal of this assignment was to Photoshop yourself into a picture of a concert you wish you were able to attend. For me, this was Sam Smith’s The Thrill Of It All tour. What an incredible album. And I’m sure the concert would have been life-changing!

And if there is one song I would have loved to hear while there… this is it!
