Love: Not Enough Frames

Original DS 106 Assignment: Love: In Three Frames

Our love in three photos. This was the “try a random one” assignment I got, which perfectly fulfilled my need for 10 total stars. I took pictures of my long-time boyfriend, Andy, and realized I was able to get one from every other year. We are going to get married soon and I though this was such a cute thing to be able to make in light of all the stressful planning! Andy and I met through friends and immediately clicked… I liked to talk and he liked to listen. 5 years later, we have a kitten, have lived in two apartments, have gone on countless trips to many states, traveled internationally for the first time and going through college! Among all else, Andy and I are best friends. We don’t have to sugarcoat things to prevent the other from getting upset. We like watching reality shows, going to the beach, and working to save for the future we both want. *cries*

Love in three frames

This week was all about photography.  This assignment asked me to tell a love story using three pictures.  So here you go:

Holding your hand, I feel happy!
Holding your hand, I feel happy!

Holding your hand, I feel happy and excited!
Holding your hand, I feel happy and excited!
Still holding your hand, I feel happy, excited, and loved!
Still holding your hand, I feel happy, excited, and loved!

I went with the simple story of love which transcends time by showing children who can feel young love in a sense of having someone so they aren’t alone and afraid, to teenagers in love who are daring and explore love to feel that sense of excitement, to an older couple who come full circle to feeling that contentment and sense of security knowing someone cares about you in a way no one else does.

So beautiful and elegant waiting for someone to come sweep you up. The way you shine in the lights is irresistible.baseball

I was just a youngster when I first laid my eyes on you. It was truly love at first sight.

Still to this day, my love for you is irreplaceable. I do not know where I would be without you in my life.

This assignment was to create a love story in three frames. I chose to show my love for baseball in this assignment. The original assignment can be found here and it is worth 3 stars.

A Love Story

3 love photos

This assignment (worth three stars) required me to tell a love story in three photos. I used this assignment to tell the story of Ami and John Brown, a handsome, wealthy lawyer from Florida visiting his birthplace, NY, for a few weeks. To create this, I took images from online and used photoshop to create a three section narrative. I made these images high contrast and black and white to incorporate Noir.

John meets Ami in her club when he goes with his business friends for a night on the town. He becomes enthralled with Ami and invites her to come home with him. She accepts the invitation, John being attractive and appearing wealthy. They enjoy a passionate night, but when John wakes up, Ami’s not in the bed. She has left and taken his wallet. He listens to Drake to deal with his resulting sadness while Ami buys a new car.

What’s your love?

Visual Assignment

I chose three pictures that I thought summed up a relationship that summed up Brooke Davis. Honestly, this was completely easy. My final project was going to be about Brooke fulfilling a lifelong dream of having her own clothing line, making her own clothes, and presenting them at a fashion show. So of course, I chose a picture of Brooke Davis, since the relationship was about her, a photo of sketches she had made for the clothing line, and then the name of her clothing line, Clothes over Bros, on the wall at her store.

Fotor B Davis Collage

To create this three-framed photo, I used Fotor, which is a picture editor as well as a collage creator application. I chose the three photos that I wanted to use for the frame and opened them up into the app. I then used the photo stitching option on the right hand side which allowed me to align the photos side by side, or up and down; I chose the side by side option. I changed the outline color to black, and I rounded the edges of the pictures to give it an edgy side, because if anyone has watched One Tree Hill, or is just a Brooke Davis fan, we all know she is completely on the edgy side. After I was content with my editing, I saved the frame and this became “Love: In Three Frames”

DS106 Assignment (c)- Love: In three frames

lovestory

For this assignment, I had to use three photos to tell as story about a relationship between myself and something that I love. So, I chose to do a story board of my cat, Ponyo. I really enjoyed doing this project because aside from the graphics that I got to create, I also got to write and express the story that was being displayed.

I’m not very assertive

I had the most fun this week with the “Love: In Three Frames” assignment and knew almost immediately what to make mine about.  As my URL indicates, I’m really a dog person. Like…REALLY really.  Unfortunately, my girlfriend is very much a cat person, and the place we live is too small to have any dogs in it.  The following three frames more or less sum up our entire relationship.

For this one, I just had to open up the three images, which I already had on my computer (one of these from a different assignment!) and come up with the captions.  I actually used Microsoft Paint for this one, which is pretty archaic but the easiest for just moving some images around.  The only problem I ran into was that I accidentally made a typo and Paint doesn’t allow you to go back to a textbox once you click away from it, so I had to just move a different textbox over the original.

This was my favorite assignment from the bank though since it was the most personal to me!

Love: In Three Frames for Father’s Day

As I attempt to catch up on ds106 I’m trying some visual assignments. For Father’s Day (a day that always slips past me as it falls right at the end of the school year*) I gave Love: In Three Frames a try for both my husband and my father.

Here’s the collage for my children’s father.

And the one for my father.

Neither of these is what I want them to be, but I think that may be because I can’t really put into words what I’m trying to say here.

*A recent conversation with a single father friend has me convinced we should have one ‘family day’ rather than Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Children missing a mother or father have a rough time on those days. One day to celebrate parents would be better.
