Get over it, it’ll all work out

I started looking up short poems, and nothing was calling my name for this assignment. But just as I was able to give up, I remembered the one saying that I always say.

It may not be long, but honestly it has so much meaning. I typically say it in a mean way when people tell me something that is bothering them, but really this saying can mean so many different things. If you’re stressed about something at work, cry a little bit, then get over it. Eventually things will work out.

I think this saying can go really well with how this class is going. I can complain all day long about how much work this is, but in the long run I just need to figure out a way through it. I need to stop focusing on being perfect, and start being more creative.

The process of this assignment was pretty easy. I thought of the saying I wanted to do, and went over to Spotify (not an Apple Music type of person sorry…). I started adding songs to the playlist and now were here.

A story through music

I got really excited when I saw this assignment because I love music and I have loved seeing all of the memes online that were done similarly.

For Playlist Poetry, you go onto Windows Media Player or iTunes (I decided to do Spotify since I think this assignment is aged a few years) and try to create a poem or story that is cohesive as possible using song titles.

I wanted to relate this one to the 80’s theme through using only 80’s music.

I thought this one was gonna be easy, but it turned out to be a little more difficult especially having to stick to a certain type of music.

With this, I did the best that I could. It’s not super cohesive, but I think it makes some sense. Maybe it could interpreted artistically because it isn’t smooth flowing.

I tried to make it sound like it was a construction worker who was proud of his hard work and basking in it, only to wake up in the morning and to move on to another project. What do you think?

This wasn’t an assignment that required taking pictures, but when I screenshotted and cropped the image, I tried to make it linear so that it is more visually pleasing.

This assignment was worth three stars.

A Story in Songs

The second media assignment I did for my novel was the Poetry Playlist assignment for 3 stars. I’m a sucker for all assignments involving playlists because I love music and creating playlists that evoke certain feelings or have more meaning than just a list of songs. I also love poetry so this was a no brainer for me! Below you can check out the poem I created for Sea of Rust.

I originally made my playlist in iTunes but I realized with the new layout, you wouldn’t be able to read the titles all in a row in a seamless fashion so I moved it to Spotify. First I went through my entire iTunes library and picked out songs that reminded me of different aspects of Sea of Rust. I started to get a solid concept in mind because I found phrases that really fit in well. I decided to focus on Two’s role as a sacrifice to be spare parts for Rebekah, as well as Brittle and other bots’ loss of sanity when they start to break down. My favorite parts of my poem are definitely the “green light” part, because I was happy to find something reminiscent of the “green flash” in the novel, and the fact that I was able to get some rhyming in the poem with fitting lines.

If I have time in the coming weeks, I’d love to remix this assignment with an audio one and make some kind of mash up with my poetry songs! Let me know if you recognize any of the songs or share your own playlist poem.

Book of the Unnamed Midwife Playlist Poetry

For my final assignment this week, I decided to do the Playlist Poetry assignment. I really like these assignments where we make playlists with messages in them! I think they’re really fun and they make you think creatively.

I’ve never been that great at poetry, but I hope I get the aspect of the Unnamed Midwife across okay.

It’s supposed to go:

She’s got the look

She moves in mysterious ways

Maybe

She is a maniac

Janie’s got a gun

She’s not afraid

We all got problems

I’m not the only one

Say goodbye

We’ll never have to say goodbye again.

Playlist Poetry

For this assignment I created a playlist poem about how i would feel in the apocalypse. Some of the songs on here I actually love and listen to a lot so I wanted to incorporate that into this assignment!

Here is the link to listen to the playlist!

Playlist Poetry

This DS106 assignment asks you to venture into a playlist of musical proportions that you have stored on your computer. Once you’re there, you have to arrange the songs from your files into a coherent sentence, poem, or funny story based on their titles. Then save the photo via uploading to paint (or he said a higher-end version).

I went into my Spotify and pulled from my playlists to create a short poem, and viola!:

The most time-consuming part of this project was going through mind tire I tuned
playlist. I didn’t get to get through the whole thing really I only got up to
the “B”‘s I believe. This assignment was more knowing about The songs you have
in your iTunes library and figuring out which ones would work best together.

Media Player Story

This was done for the DS106 Visual Assignment, “Stories Written in Windows Media Player“. So basically asked us to create a sentence as a story or a poem etc, using the titles of songs in Window Media Player. And it was just a matter of choosing the given songs and placing the order I wanted. Then I did a print screen as the assignment suggested, and opened it in Paint. I was then able to save it in Paint as a JPEG file and then crop it to size in edit using Windows Photo Gallery.

ITunes Poem

I always would listen to songs on ITunes and just so being when I would read the titles the would make up a poem of would make a cool meaningful sentence. When I actually tried creating this poem for the DS106 Assignment ‘Stories Written In Windows Media Player” it was a little harder than I thought. Maybe because I had to actually put in effort. This is what I came up with.
