Social Presence of Emmalyn

So I don’t know if I mentioned this or not, but I GOT A NEW PUPPY!! She has been a huge handful, but I love her so so much. She has taken up pretty much all of my free time, (just to let anyone know NOT to get a puppy unless you have tons of free time on your hands) and I thought for this assignment it would be great to show how I think she would post if she had an instagram (that she is controlling!)

I first had to make a new instagram (finsta!) that could hold all her pictures. I filled it with pictures that I think are important moments to her, but I don’t know…she probably only cares about when she gets treats…

From there, I just made cute captions in how I think she would talk (so read them with a southern blonde woman’s voice).

I had to also create a bio for her, which is below:

“Hi! I’m Emmalyn, but I go by Emmy! I am a beagador/visla mix, and I live in North Carolina with my big brother Aussie Declan and my two moms. ?

And there you go! I really enjoyed this assignment, I thought it was pretty funny to depict myself as my Emmy (and also show how she would’ve talked, in my opinion.)

Finsta

For this assignment it was required for us to create a fake instagram, otherwise known as a finsta. I decided to make it relate to our radio show in one way or another. Instead of taking the usual route to making a finsta which is an alter ego I loved the idea of making it for something with the show

After doing the show I realized how much fun it was and how it could be something to build off in the future. In case we decide to do another show because it seems the feedback was great. It would be awesome to have somewhere we can promote our future products. Hence why this idea is great and we can do anything we want to help people watch the show. Give us a follow to hear what will be happening next! Will there be a secret agent hip hop hour round 2???!!!

Gram About It

For my last web assignment this week I decided to end with a two and a half star assignment called create finsta Instagram. I felt this would be another fun and creative activity I could do that would also give me the opportunity to connect my work back to my groups radio show “Girl Power”.

So with that I made my groups radio show “Girl Power” an Instagram!

Ultimately this activity asked that you create a finsta, which in the Instagram world is a fake Instagram account in which you don’t take on your original identity. On these accounts you can be whoever you want to be or post whatever it is you want to post in a private space. However, while the assignment you to make a finsta for a character unlike yourself I felt this was the perfect opportunity to create a specific Instagram dedicated to my groups show. Essentially by creating this account I was able to post content we talked about and began to advertise our show more.

Check out some of my initial posts!

Follow this account to learn and hear more about “Girl Power”!

I wanted to create an Instagram account for our show “Girl Power” because I felt while it was a way to advertise our show even though it has already aired, it also is a way for the conversation or theme of our show to continue to be talked about. Overall we really wanted to discuss female empowerment and how females are portrayed and exist in the secret agent genre. While the Instagram account that I made mainly displays the flyers, logos, sticker, and females mentioned in our show it is also a way to continue to discussion of our topic further. Likewise I could potentially give this account to my other fellow group mates and they could possibly further add content to it.

Making an Instagram account is fairly easy, I had already made one for this class so it was a piece of cake making another one. Essentially all I had to do was create a name and bio along with make my initial posts. I overall really liked the way my account came out I felt it was designed in a simplistic way while still managing to encompass the concept of our show. I really hope everyone takes a look at it and maybe along the road my group will further expand on it!

Chlover

My finstagram is the one I made for this class, I do not go by Chlover in my daily life, so it is my “alternate” personality. This account is owned by Chlover: a Spanish inhabitant who works at a bar and enjoys her job!

This character is unlike myself, in that I’ve never worked in a bar (though I do think it would be fun), and she is the type to drink a lot and party (I don’t do either haha). I think this would be something cool to do in my lifetime (work in Spain), but I could never see myself as a bartender.

A Finsta for Everyone

This assignment was to make a fake instagram-a finsta- for a fake person, but I decided to do it about my character! Get to know James through the lens of social media!

Put a face to the name!

Rebellious-inside and out! Red streaks fit a superhero who doesn’t want to be one, right?

James loves to have somewhere to hide from everyone-especially when she is trying to avoid her duties.

Cal.ifornia Finsta

I created a finsta (fake Instagram) for Cal, a character in California.

I decided on the username “cal.ifornia2” to incorporate both Cal’s name, who the page belongs to, and the name of the novel. Micah, Frida’s brother and Cal’s friend, calls Cal “California,” so I think the username process went well! The number is just because cal.ifornia was already taken!

The bio was not difficult at all. I made sure to use the first person, and it makes the latest picture more obvious. I used pixabay to find the seven pictures (the six posted and the profile picture). I immediately thought to add a run-down shack, which they originally lived in before they moved to their previous neighbor’s house. I then chose the river because Frida spent a lot of time there washing clothes and thinking. Although Cal rarely went over there, Frida meant a lot to him, so I think his Instagram page would be full of images related to her.

The third (black and white) picture is one of Frida. I wanted a picture of a woman in the woods since that is where they lived, but I struggled to find a picture with a woman the age I wanted. Although I would have preferred a picture with color, the age of the woman and background of a tree was more important to me in capturing Cal’s wife.

Once Cal and Frida join the Community, Cal is often invited into Micah’s treehouse. I wanted an older looking but functional treehouse, and this picture was it! Micah’s community had limited resources, but everything they had always served its purpose. Frida and Cal also argued a lot about what Cal was doing in these treehouse talks since he was not allowed to tell her, and this leads to the next picture.

Frida made friends with the woman who ran the bakery, and she was eventually given the privilege of cooking bread. At the time, Cal and Frida were not speaking a lot, but he was still extremely proud of her for making friends and being able to do what she loved again: bake.

The last picture is toward the end of the novel, when Frida is much further along and they are living in a new community. The description for this picture states “Julie and Gray,” which are Cal and Frida’s new names in this community.

You can see the Instagram page here to view the individual pictures and descriptions!

I was able to use my phone number to create this account, so it was a fairly simple four star assignment!

Insta Madame Polygraph

For my second assignment I chose to complete a “Finsta.” To be honest, I didn’t know what a “finsta” was so I had to google it. Once I realized what a finsta was, I decided to make an account for my fictitious superhero, Madame Polygraph. I’ve embedded her first post here, but you can also check out her full Instagram.

Honesty is the best policy. #GoldenRule #DontLetMeCatchYou

Week Nine Assignments!

This was WebAssignments, WebAssignments2073. It was 2 and a half stars. I had to go on google quick draw and see if the computer could guess my pictures. For the first three I didn’t know they gave me things to draw so I just drew what I wanted. Then by the third one I was able to figure out what I was doing. I then put in on twitter for the class to see.

For my last assignment I chose to do WebAssignments, WebAssignments2071. This was to create a fake Instagram account. My roommates and I created a fake Instagram account. LME’J is an acronym for me and my roommates first names. This was three and a half stars.

Create Finsta Gram

There’s a lot of dogsta grams, so I thought, why not make another? Especially because I love my dog so much. So, I created a dogstagram and you can find the instagram @MandyDogstagram.

Here are some photos of the dogstagram:

This picture is the first post from my dog, Mandy.

I really enjoyed doing this assignment because it made me think about my dog and let me incorporate her into the assignment.

SuperFinsta

When I came across the “Create Finsta Instagram” assignment,  I was hesitant at first. I don’t have a finsta, and honestly I think they’re dumb. However, I realized that if anyone was justified in having a finsta, it’s someone with a secret identity, who wants to be able to address the people who know both their superself and normal-self.

So, I made a finsta for my sidekick, Little Rascal

Little Rascal's finsta

Her first post is very on-brand, a movie night post:

Little Rascal's finsta

Her second post is a complaint/call-out of her sister’s grooming habits:

Little Rascal's finsta

Her third post is a shot of the Seattle skyline, taken with her sister’s help:

Little Rascal's finsta

Her fourth post is from her favorite spot, Scarecrow Video in Seattle:

and her last post is a review of Batman vs. Superman:

Little Rascal's finsta

I was able to just pull these pictures off of the internet, and throw filters on them. It was a bit hard to get into the mindset of Little Rascal for this, simply because my own Instagram is mostly pictures of myself and my friends, and for this I had to come up with other things. I think it worked out though.
