Dream Vacation

For my last assignment bank post of the week, worth 3 1/2 stars, I selected to do welcome to paradise. This assignment instructs you to write simply about your dream location. I will be talking about my character, Bob’s, dream vacation with his friend, Gus Lee, who is a character from another student in this course. Overall I think this was my weakest assignment bank post of the week, but I have to say it is challenging to write about two different characters (especially since I am a since major who doesn’t do any creative writing). Of course I picked the Galapagos Islands because I was just there a little over a week ago.

Bob: My dream vacation would be to the Galapagos Islands. I have never wanted to go myself, but I know one of my good friends, Gus Lee, has always wanted to go. Gus is my barber. He has been my barber for at least 8 years now and I can’t imagine having another person as my barber. He is so friendly for the rough life he has had. His mother died when he was young and they think she was possibly poisoned. Gus doesn’t make a ton of money from being a barber so I really want to take him on vacation with me. Several weeks ago I got him talking about if he would travel anywhere, where would it be? Without hesitating he said the Galapagos Islands. He wasn’t able to tell me why there, but I knew that is where I would take him. When we get there we plan on hiking the second largest active volcano Sierra Negra, bird watching and snorkeling. Gus has always loved animals which would make sense why he wants to go to the Galapagos Islands. I cannot wait to see the smile on his face when I surprise him with this all expense paid trip!

Welcome To Paradise!

Well Yee-Haw, Western Belle here. Ive been dreaming about my dream vacation. If i could pick any place to go to I would choose Texas. I heard its really dry there and lots of cactuses. Heard there are lots of rodeos! Thats my kind of place, if I had to pick someone to go with I would choose Andy the bank robber. I would take him because that way he can show me the wild life. Stealing, and robbing banks. Dog-gone I can’t wait.

*For this writing assignment bank we had to create our dream vacation but also incorporate two characters. I went on the characters page and picked a random one to incorporate it to my story. The bank was a little boring, but also very vague so very easy. It is rated 3 and a half stars. I think it depends on how in depth you go- how many stars it should gain.

Final Project and Final Week

This class I think has been pretty interesting and it was a lot of work but it was enjoyable work. I’m glad to see it come to an end but going to miss the cool things I got to learn at the same time. For my final project, I decided to do a love story based on multiple assignments in the assignment bank but also coming up with my own ideas to make the project better. For starters, I chose to do the assignment “Love at First Shot.” Now with this assignment is a visual assignment, and I built my love story off of. The assignment is to find a picture online of a couple and come up with a story for it. I instead chose to choose multiple “lovey” pictures and build a whole love life off of it in a story of Mike and Maria. The second assignment I used was “Have a Phone Conversation with Yourself.” Now for this, I tried to get my audio out of the way but I actually ended up doing audio for the whole thing so that plan didn’t work. I used audacity to edit the voices and change the pitches to sound like a man vs woman. At some parts in the movie, the audacity kept acting up or maybe it was something on my computer that I couldn’t figure out but it would get super high pitched in some places and I pretty much had to record things multiple times to try to make it as least terrible as possible. The third assignment I used out of the assignment bank was the “Welcome to Paradise” writing assignment. For this assignment, instead of writing it down in a blog post, I spoke out my dream vacation as if it was the honeymoon that Mike and Maria were going on. I spoke of who and what I would want to take to the beautiful location and what my location would look like.

For the rest of my final project, I used different aspects of the course to compile everything together to make my movie of Mike and Maria. I used iMovie on my Mac to put it all together. I learned how to add sound effects and transitions. I even added a movie into my movie to add the video portion of the assignments in there. As mentioned in the week 13 assignments, I found this cool way to add a map into my movie so I did that too. Overall, I think my final project turned out way better than I expected (minus the audio problems every now and then) and I’m pretty satisfied with it. I think I learned more in trying to create this final than I realized I learned all semester because I was finally putting everything together.

Final Project

As for my summary of the week, I think it went pretty well. I am satisfied with my work and my time management of the project. I think everything went smoothly (besides the audio part of course) and now it is time for my to create my daily creates, tutorials, and assignments.

Vacation on a Desert Island

On hitting the mashup button, I got the “Jump Opposer” mashup, which states that I need t write an opposite version of the assignment, one that has the opposite of the intended effect.

Let us write a nightmarish view of Welcome to Paradise.

Well good sir, you have done it again. You have truly done it again. I don’t know how you managed to unbuckle both our seatbelts, pull the emergency exit handle, and grab me while you were being sucked out the airplane all in one fluid motion, but you sir, are apparently amazing at multitasking.

Now here we are, stranded on a miniature sand island in the middle of the ocean. Seriously, I thought these things only existed in comics! At least the comic islands had a little palm tree for shade, we are less lucky than that!

At any rate, at least the airline has a good idea of where we jumped plane. If we are lucky, a pontoon plane will find us before we die of thirst. That will likely take a few days.

So now that we have so drastically changed our vacation setting, what do we have to look forward to? Sunburn. Lots of sunburn. An sand mites. Seriously, this is a desert island in the middle of the ocean! Why is there any living thing on this island?!? Do the sandmites get a steady flow of unfortunate souls to keep their population thriving?  Will we find piles upon piles of bones 3 inches under the sand?

Brilliant move sir, simply brilliant.

So, the opposite of a dream vacation is obviously a nightmare vacation. I still wanted to keep a certain comedic feel about it. The emotion calculator (made up by me) says terror + comedy = incredulity. So that is the tone I was going for.

On continuing down the comedy line, I recalled all the Far-Side comics I have seen set with some number of people stranded on an island. This aligned with the vacation stereotype of a beach vacation, so I took it and ran.

Hanging About

Every year, the Corpus Metus crew jet off for a week of relaxation, team building, and stark terror.  DS106 FM, our parent company flies us all expense paid to Sagada, Philippines.  At first, our general manager Paul Bond purchased the tickets because the vacation package was cheaper than Cancun.

In Sagada, Rose likes to explore the caves for the remnants of the locals, uh, I mean the locals’ stories.  Gory usually spends her time on the beach trying to get video of someone being devoured by sharks.  I, on the other hand, prefer to rappel down the Coffin Cliffs.

Well, this annual ritual has grown on us (like the tuna sandwich someone left in the bottom drawer of the filing cabinet).  Since the first trip, we’ve added a team building exercise.  The exercise is different each year.  Last year, for example, we drugged a tourist from Australia and dropped him off in one of the caves in the jungle with his hands tied behind his back.  We taped GoPro to him, of course, so we could watch the whole thing.  This year, I want to see if we can hide a small child in one of the coffins.

I think that’s all for now, folks.  Have a pleasant vacation.  And remember: If you find yourself vacationing in Sagada, don’t accept drinks from American radio show hosts!

Heaven

My dream is to go once in Maldives. I can imagine how beautiful this place could be. This is a cool and beautiful restaurant in Maldives. surrounding all gorgeous sea friends.

Dream Vacation!!

My dream vacation would take place in Cancun, Mexico with my son and daughter. We would swim with the Sharks and go snorkeling. I would love to go deep sea diving to see all the beautiful fish and underwater plants. Me and my family would go speed boat racing  and then we would go and do karaoke. I would go swimming, then relax and fall asleep on the beach and then eat lots of delicious food. Last but not least, I would shop until I drop in all of the island shops and boutiques.All-Inclusive-in-Cancun-Mexico

Oh the places you can go…..

When you wish upon a star, your dreams will take you…
It doesn’t have to be very far. A place – on a beach or in the mountains with family and close friends would be the ideal dream vacation. Mornings we would wake with a dazzling sunrise and a cup of hot tea. Then it’s a walk along the beach, stretching and moving into the day. At the beach we would swim with dolphins and snorkel in the underworld, catching sight of colorful exotic fish and waving seaweed. We would hike to the mountains exploring nature at its finest. At the mountain top is a spectacular view that stretches for miles into the distance. A day isn’t complete without good food, family and cheer. Family style meals of delectable foods from Italy, Thailand, France, America, China, and Germany are some of my favorites. It’s time spent with friends and family, reminiscing about old times and creating new memories that makes it all worth while.

perfect day
My paradise!
