1 Quote A Day: Writing Assignment

This assignment is 1 Quote a Day by mome.
This is the description:

Quotes are awesome. They recall a time, a trend or can identify you with a certain group. Type up a simple line/quote/text-based meme today without divulging the source (or completing the quote). People who recognize the line can respond in the comments!

As mome says in the description, quotes are great and they help remembering the happenings of the day.

I was soooo happy today.

Why??

I got a call from one of my friends. I have not talk to her for a long time since she lives in Niigata where it is a little far from Tokyo and we both are pretty busy.

She called me for no reason, but said to me that she was wearing the pierced earrings which we bought them together a few years ago. And that reminded her of me and wanting to call.

To my surprise, I was wearing the same pierced earrings and thinking of her on the day. Actually,  I lost the earrings few months ago and just found them under the desk last night!!

We talked on the phone for 4 hours (!!!) because we have not talked for ages and we both had lots and lots of things to talk about :D Many things changed since we met last time, she got a new hairstyle, changed her job, living in a new apartment, etc… It was really nice to talk to her (even though I had class from 8:00am next day and we were chatting till 4:00 am… but if i had no class, i think we talked longer…!!)

Recently, I have been pretty busy and stressed out to be honest, but a call from her really cheered me up :)
She made me to realize that there is a happiness all around. People often look for only special things or events make them happy. But true happiness is everywhere in ordinary days. It’s the matter of whether you can realize and appreciate it. Like Mai quotes the similar idea in her blog :)

After 3.11, the Great East Japan Earthquake, I think everyone are feeling the same way.

So here’s my 1 Quote a Day for today

“So easy to forget our love the little things we do like calling for no reason just to say the words I love you.”

(((?))) <3

————————
Here’s how I did this assignment:
I took a picture of the earrings with my iphone and uploaded to Flickr. Then I editted the photo with Aviary ( this is my favorite app- it’s pretty easy to use it and useful! ). And embeded the photo here.
This is how I editted my photo :)

?
For the image of the quote, I searched with GoogleImage. Then put the quote and changed the font size, color, and style. It was a simple assignment but I really enjoyed doing it.

Hope you can figure it out who wrote this :)

It is one of my favorite songs. ?

An old geezer’s 1 Quote a Day – Round 4

I remain hooked on this 1 Quote a Day assignment. In the comments on a recent 1QAD assignment on Mome’s blog, he pondered the idea of dropping clues in the comments section of the post. This seems like a good idea. The comments can also be used to discuss the significance of the film, song, game or comic from which the quote comes from I suppose.

For today’s 1QAD, I’m giving up on the film quotes were drawn from for the three previous days and shifting to another of my all time favorites. The quote is:

“Charlie don’t surf.”

Come to think of it, my all time favorite band did a song by the same title. So I guess there would be three possible entry points for this challenge:

What film is the line from? Who is the actor who said it? Name of the band who performed the song?

And I’ll drop a visual clue that should make this the first two questions easy as pie:

This is the clue

An old geezer’s 1 Quote a Day – Round 3

Gonna stay with the same movie as the first two rounds. So far, I don’t think anyone has mentioned the title of this immortal film of the fairways.

The quote:

“You will get nothing, and like it”

Who said it and to whom? / What’s the film?

On explaining 1 quote a day, and #8

So first off let’s get this thing going. ds106 assignment on quotes.

Guess the source and/or complete this quote:

“Henshin-a-go-go, baby!”
And now that we’re done with that I thought quote #8 would be a good time to provide a little bit of a primer on what this whole 1QAD thing is all about for those of you who are just joining us. So what is it? Well it’s basically an idea inspired by 2 things: An in-class assignment on pop culture, and the Daily Shoot website, which tasked participants with taking and submitting 1 photo a day according to a provided theme.
From that I was musing about the possibilities and potential of quotes, which I personally believe is a strong indicator of one’s interests and influences (and just for the record when I say “quotes” any text-based line is basically good for the taking; catchphrases, taglines, memes et al).

The Shadow knows.

The kinds of quotes people know and can identify with will differ from person to person, and there’s also the possibility of being taken down memory lane when hearing a quote from years ago that never would have come up otherwise. In fact, when speaking of the surprising reactions and correct responses to my quotes one case that comes up in particular would be my #5, which I personally thought was kind of an obscure reference that perhaps nobody would be able to identify. Nevertheless several people did and now I know that one of my favourite movies is actually a lot more recognised than I thought, which is nothing if not cool. :)

So with that you basically have the idea and intention behind Project 1QAD. The Project actually started first on Twitter, and I believe a few people are still on that which is awesome, but my submissions will be continuing via this blog/ds106 for the time being so if anyone’s interested feel free to join in, with your own quotes or just by guessing where each was taken from. See you on the Project!

An old geezer’s 1 Quote a Day – Round 2

“Yes sir, I’m your pal.”

Same move as Round 1. This quote was both in the film and TV version.

Who said it, and to whom? / What line came either before or after? / What’s the film?

For those wishing to get in on the fun of making your very 1qad posts while earning #ds106 assignment street cred head on over to Mome’s assignment description.

An old geezer’s take on 1 Quote a Day – Round 1

I’m getting so frustrated with having no clue about the film references that Mome keeps dropping in his awesome 1 Quote a Day assignment, that I’ve decided to take matters in to my own hands. I imagine the ones I come with will stump the youngsters.

Anyhow, here goes.

This first quote is actually not the original but appeared in the TV version of the famous film because the original line couldn’t be said on prime time back then. Here it is:

“We’re all gonna take a shower”

What is the film? or Who is the actor who said it? or What was the original quote?
