For this assignment bank I had to say a tongue twister as fast as I could. I found this assignment and realized it looked familiar. I remembered I did an extra assignment my first week with audio, and I found the recording in my voice memos on my phone. Then from there I uploaded it to Soundcloud. I chose to say “sally sold sea shells by the sea shore.” This is a very popular tongue twister, so I figured many people would recognize it. In the voice memo, I had a background of wave audio, and I realized it was almost impossible to hear it. This is the only assignment I did that did not relate back to the course. The syllabus said not all of them had to be, so it was nice to not have this entire week be one note. This assignment was way easier than 3 stars, and that is always a win.

I chose this tongue twister after looking through multiple lists of tongue twisters. It was one that I could find that I could think of audio to accompany it, a criteria of the assignment. I hadn’t heard this twister before! I think if might be Australian, since the website I found it on is Australian.

This wasn’t a super hard assignment. It did take me about 20 times to get it right! I’m a bit of a perfectionist. I also did feel kind of silly! I do wonder what my suitmates were thinking when I recorded it… The audio I found on Freesound is of two frogs, which is perfect for this twister, though the audio is of two male frogs. Well! Probably the one people who could tell by the sound are zoologists and biologists. If you are either of those two things, I’m sorry! Please don’t get too offended!

By the way, this is as fast as I can say it clearly enough for other people to be able to understand!

Sidenote: For whatever reason, I feel like I sound, or at least in some takes of this sounded, slightly English. I am not English. I’ve lived in NOVA my entire life. I do have some speech articulation issues. I have had a few people think that I have a British accent (as well as French and German. I don’t know where German came from!). I really noticed this when I went slower. Either I sound British when I say toad or the word toad is really British!

Also Sidenote: Freesound is ridiculously easy to use. It took me less than a minute to make an account and searching and downloading sounds is also so easy!
