Things Duckie Says

For this assignment, for 5 stars, I did a Supercut video featuring funny things Duckie from Pretty in Pink says. I used a video of Duckie Clips I found on Youtube, downloaded it, and then edited and cut it so that I could get it how I wanted. I focused on funny phrases that he said, so the video that was originally 4 minutes long, I cut down to 1:30. He’s my favorite character, and he says a lot of bizarre things so I wanted to incorporate that. It took a lot of cutting at the right times and editing it. I added a title and beginning and credits scene to add more production level. After finishing, I was able to upload this to vimeo. I got lucky that there was already a youtube video showing short clips of Duckie, but it was up to me to supercut it so that it was only phrases that I wanted. The scenes are no longer than 5 seconds long, so I was really cutting and chopping it. It goes chronologically throughout the movie, so it’s also fun to see him from beginning to end with his personality. I hope you enjoy!

Diego Ricardo

Well as you know we had to watch a movie form the list given to us that we did not watch from the previous week. And then pick a video assignment that relates to the movie.  I choose, Men of Children because I have watched the movie a couple of years ago. It is about a Earth, where fertility rates are almost completely down and the human race is struggling to survive. I personally do not enjoy the film, but it works out OK for this assignment. I picked the video assignment, “super cut it” for this movie. Super cut it is a montage of clips about a single theme, saying, and ect. I made one for this movie because during the beginning of the film, the name Diego Ricardo keept repeating due to him being killed and being the youngest human on earth.

DS106 Assignment Tutorial – Supercut It

I made a tutorial for the DS106 video assignment titled “Supercut It,” which I did in iMovie on my Mac. I used screencast-o-matic to create the tutorial, and just went step by step through the process that I followed to create the original assignment for “Supercut It.”

The tutorial is available on YouTube here.

Or just watch it here:

Supercut It

Create a supercut montage of overused dialogue, themes, motifs, filmmaking techniques, etc. for a particular character, tv show, film, and/or public figure. A supercut is a “fast-paced montage of short video clips that obsessively isolates a single element from its source, usually a word, phrase, or cliche from film and TV. Supercut.org collects every known example of the video remix meme.” For examples and descriptions of supercuts visit:
