Daddy Daughter Dancing

For this assignment, I thought for a second about a song with really strong, attached memories. The song I chose isn’t a song I really listen to on my own, so when I thought of it, it was perfect for the assignment.

As far as the assignment portion, it was rather straight forward. I just recorded myself reflecting on the song. I let a black spot to get a noise reduction profile. I made sure to put long paused after mistakes and I let the recording stream. I realized after my take that I did not name the song, so I made a second recording where I said the name of the song and spliced it into the original. Audacity takes quite a bit of the trial and error out of recording a voice audio file. Mistakes are easily removed or corrected, so I did not have to start over every time I messed up. I have rarely, if ever, recorded myself for any reason, but if and when I do in the future, I will remember that audacity is an indispensable tool for doing so. Anyhow, here is my recording.

One final realization I had while making this assignment was that embedding files is easier than I though. For both soundcloud and youtube, all I had to do was make sure that in the ext editor, they were on a line entirely their own. No more adding the
embed and /embed markup to get things to appear.

Never Too Busy (Song)

For this assignment, I am going to share with everyone a song that reminds me of the past. It’s a Rhythm and Blues (R&B) song that I would always listen to as a kid on car rides. It was during this time as a kid, when I had no worries and was never too busy. Plus, the song is really relaxing to listen to. Also the artist, Kenny Lattimore, I saw at my family reunion and is part of my big family.

In this next audio clip, I will let you know personally why I love this song so much.

What a Song Might Mean to You

I decided to choose this country song by Eric Church. It’s pretty nostalgic and a good song too!!!

Ramblin’ about Ramble On

I love metal, classic rock, and folk (as in traditional folk, not blue grass) music. When this assignment came up I decided to do it, but I wasn’t sure on what song. A lot of what I like is just hard driving stuff that I thinks sounds cool or ‘epic’ or whatever, not something that I choose because I have some spiritual connection or it has some deep meaning to me. So after some thought I chose Ramble On by Led Zeppelin to explain a song. I simply wrote a speech, recorded it, and posted it on soundcloud.

Audio Assignment – What A Song Might Mean To You

This assignment had us pick a song with special significance to us, and then explain that importance through audio. I picked the song Guts, from Berserk. You might remember I created a ringtone with a different song from the series ages ago.

While I do like the song I used for that, Guts is by far my favorite song. It’s pretty obvious by my play counts how much I love this song (1000 of those plays were in one month), but I went into slightly more depth below. I put the song in the background of my explanation using Audacity, more as an attempt to block out some background noises from my bad iPhone mic, but make sure you listen to the full version without my dumb voice talking over it.

You Make My Dreams Come True

So for this assignment, while it might be cheesy, I chose Hall & Oates song You Make My Dream Come True

Listen here about why I love the song so much! I had a lot of fun choosing a song, but in the end it came down to this one just because of how it makes me feel and how fun it is :)

**I linked the video from YouTube because it would not let me add a soundcloud and the video**

Funny How a Melody Sounds like a Memory…

Lol so the title is from the song “Springsteen” by Eric Church…not the song I chose to do for this assignment, but it makes for an applicable blog post title since it is about a song that triggers a memory.

Taylor Swift’s song “fifteen” is a song that I associate with a funny, awkward yet meaningful time in my life. A time called high school. My reasoning behind it is explained on my sound cloud post below.

I found this assignment fairly simple. I found it helpful to get my thoughts together prior to the recording, so I wouldn’t forget key parts of the story. I also wanted to embed the song at different times, which required a little bit of rehearsing.

Happiness

This week we had to pick and an audio assignment from the assignment bank. We were given four different options and I picked What a Song Might Mean to You. For this assignment you had to find a certain song that reminds you of a situation and then explain why you like the song as well as why it is important to you. For this, I picked the song “Happiness,” by the Fray. The song is particularly talking about the singer, Issac, and how he is not with his wife at this time, but he knows he will be happy again when he sees her. But, to me a lot of these lyrics talk about happiness in a different sense. I feel as if the lyrics are personifying happiness. You can listen to my thoughts on the song in the Soundcloud media post below the video. I did this assignment by youtubing the song “Happiness” and then recording my thoughts in Soundcloud. Pretty easy.

What a song means to me audio assignment

For one of this week’s tasks we were to choose one of four provided audio assignments. As such, I chose to complete the audio assignment titled “What a song might mean to you”. I decided to complete this assignment for this task rather than the other choices based on its details. I feel songs and music are significant and can have a profound impact upon the listenrs. As such, I could better express my ideas and thoughts with this assignment.
Certain songs can most definitely elicit certain feelings and memories within a person. I believe songs and music are an extremely important aspect of audio. Some songs may create emotions of sadness or happiness within the listener based on the story/lyrics of the song or possibly that person may have certain memories tied to that song that produce those emotions. For me, there are many songs that provide certain emotions and feelings. One particular song that I not only enjoy listening to but also creates certain emotions within me is Rachel Platten’s Fight Song.

Below is my soundcloud audio clip providing reasons for why I like this song, why it is so important to me, and the emotions it makes me feel.

In life we will always face challenges. But, in order to overcome those challenges we must continue to fight and not give in to those who are mean and don’t believe in your goals. As such, I feel Rachel Platten’s Fight Song is a great example of this ideal and elicits powerful emotions and self-confidence within the listener.
