Hey You! Here is how you tell a Story Within the Web

For this Web Assignment we were asked to take any web page of our choice and alter the content of that web page (content, images) to make it tell a new story. Here is the screen shot of the page web page I chose to alter. (Just click on the image to see the details)

Bianca's Secret

Do you ever wish that your eye color was different? Hate having to spend money every year on color contacts? Wish that you could change your eye color anytime you wanted to??? Well here is your perfect solution! There is now a new product being sold on Amazon known as Bianca’s Secret/Inoxxa Eye Color Changing Droplets. These magic droplets will change your eye color to any of our selections (brown, blue, hazel, green, or grey) in 24 hours after being applied! Just use 2-3 drops within 24 hours of opening (refrigerate the bottle afterwards to use multiple times) and your on your way to the eye color you have always wanted! No hassle! No limits! And you can change your eye color anytime you want!

I got the inspiration for this story basically from myself. I sometimes wear colored contacts and I am constantly changing up the colors I buy every year. It would be so convenient if there was a easier way to go about changing my eye color. Viola! The inspiration for my magic eye droplets!

For this assignment I used the X-ray Goggles Tool. I added the tool to my bookmarks tab and once I activated it everything after was a go! I originally thought this assignment was going to be super hard. But after doing the tutorial on the website making changes to the web page was a breeze! The only sad thing about this is that I wish my product was actually real! = (

Spring Break trip to Huntsville, Alabama

I created my trip in Google Maps to Huntsville, Alabama. My friend I wanted to go there for our spring break so we drove from Fredericksburg, Virginia to Huntsville, Alabama. It was an 11 hour drive which was so long and exhausting but we were excited to get there. We had so much fun the week we were there we went shopping, ate at good restaurants, and just relaxed from school work. This trip was a lot of fun and I would recommend people to go there. The food is great there and so many nice people too.  Here is my trip.

My Family Trip To Austria

For this 2 star assignment we had to create a map in GoogleMaps of a story.

I created a map of my trip to Austria this past Summer 2012.

trip

My family and I took a trip to Austria for two weeks to explore. We flew into Salzburg, and from there stayed at a Time Share room we have. After which we rented a car and explored a new place everyday. We went to Vienna, the Capitol. We crossed over to Slovenia, and Italy. Then we headed up north into Germany, where we visited Munich and Nuremberg. This was such a fun vacation, and I got to see so much. Unlike America, crossing over countries borderline isn’t a problem there. You get a weeks pass and you are good to go. Being able to go from country to country so easily is great. When the natives asked us how we are enjoying ourselves, we would tell them o we just came from this country and they were shocked. To them driving 3-4 hours is not done. We explained however in America if you want to see another state it’ll be more than a 5 hours drive.

faKebooking and Twisting

In this assignment we were asked to make a fakebook and twist of a historical figure. I chose John F. Kennedy. He was the 35th president of the USA and he is my favorite president. He was a good president and very smart. He was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas Texas. Kennedy was famous for his quotes and I think he would have used Facebook and Twitter to post his quotes or anything interesting going on during his presidency. Here is his Fakebook and Twister.

Fakebook and Tweeting

This 3 star assignment was to create a fake Facebook and Tweet for a historical person. I chose to make a profile for Sigmund Freud. He had so many achievements and accomplishments that Facebook and Twitter would have been a great way to socialize and gets his ideas across. Now a days people use these networks to boast about their lives, well Sigmund Freud would have had many posts on his accomplishments and  awards, as well as so many interesting arguments and with his fellow friends on record about all their theories.

Three Oil Moon

Um…I haven’t actually blogged before, but Master insisted I do this task for him, only two hours after activation.  This is Serial #3323, the maid robot Master bought and mentioned in the previous post, and I’m apparently supposed to report on this thing he wanted me to review.

It’s this oil.  I was given some money and told to order something for some kind of project but…

Well, the rest is in the comment I left about my experience with the oil.  It was kind of hard to find a product to make a silly review about, to be honest, and with no direction, it was kind of hard to find a product that was inherently silly.  Then I realized I could probably just make a silly review about something with maybe a funny name, or give something totally serious an ironic review.  After all, I’m a robot maid.   If something that strange exists in the world, no one would bat an eye at a strange review of a normal thing…right?

In any case, my horrible experience with the bio-oil is over, so I only have to do a few more things, right…?

…Master wants his tea now, so this is #3323, signing off…

Google Translate Fail (1 star)

I found something in a foreign language (ARABIC) and used google translate….which is awful as everyone knows. It is pretty easy to mess things up when we use google chrome. Example –> This Assignment. Bi-Kam ? which translates to “How Much” in english…was translated as “Webcam” by google translate. I have no idea why google translate might have gotten it messed up but I thought it was funny. I could imagine myself going to an arab speaking country and asking for a “webcam” instead of the price. OH Google Translate!

Three Moon Wolf Stories (4 stars)

Our challenge for this web assignment was to inject a story into the comment space of a product, which in this case was the Clone Solution I found on Amazon. The whole point of this was to see if a comment can carry the essence of a story and if others will feed into it. My comment was subtle and I can actually see myself doing a stupid thing like this so it had a real feel to it.

Here is the link to the product… Clonex

Here is the comment I added

This is a story embedded in a web product because I can see someone actually trying this out …Especially if they were sooo desperate to have two of “ME’s” in there lives.

Story Telling within the web

For this assignment, I chose to go to amazon and pick a gallon of Elmers glue that looked like a gallon milk. Then I edited the title, through FireBug and changed the title to ” when mommy needs her quiet time…she uses”. Long story short, my mother used to joke around and say that some people should use glue sticks as lip gloss and when we always annoyed her, she would make sarcastic remarks like this. So when I saw what this assignment required us to do, I thought about my crazy mother who let me put on glue stick as lip gloss because I was being a stubborn little child.

Google History Maps Story: The Oregon Trail

For the Google History Maps Story assignment I chose to depict the Oregon Trail. I’m a history major focusing on US History and to me for this assignment it was obvious to portray the Oregon Trail, one of the most famous treks in US history. I was not able to use every point in the trail because many of them don’t exist anymore, so I had to fudge it a little and get to the closest point possible. Looking at it on google maps its amazing people were able to make the journey across the country without cars, air conditioning, Holiday Inns, and McDonalds.
