The super hero origins strip

This design shows that nothing is impossible; any goal can be achieved by courage and hardworking. To reach to success is to never give up, thus it is important to believe in one’s self and become a hero to our own self. Similarly , every super hero ā€˜s origin starts within his/ her self by deciding his/her goal and the best way to achieve it. I used http://www.pixton.com website for creating this design; it was really easy and fun to use. I really enjoyed creating this work.

Design Assignment #6

Last one, I promise. And it just so happens to be my radio show promo poster! woohoo! (2 stars)

road trip

Yes, I realize that I have quoted Willie Nelson, but for the sake of ds106 radio, I don’t think he would care. I also changed the lyrics up a bit. Because we are going with a roadtrip theme, I knew I wanted an image of the open road. I found it, here. I loved the vivid colors and the feel of the open road you get from the image. There’s also balance and a sense of relaxation derived from that.

I love the song “On the Road Again”. In fact, that might be the bumper I make for our show. Whenever I think of roadtrips, that’s the song that comes into my head. So I adapted the lyrics for the purpose of ds106 radio. I imported the image into photoshop, added the text, and voila! Ds106 promo poster perfection! (well, sorta.). The blue sky was the perfect place for the text box, and I felt I was immediately drawn to it.

Design Assignment #5

Almost done, here’s the assignment I chose for number 5, worth 2 stars.

autobio

This is probably my favorite of the week. The hardest part was finding an image that had a meaningful message to me. I liked this one the best because I look peaceful and it went with my concept. My mom is always saying to me, ‘this too shall pass’. I have grown to love that quote because it’s a reminder to not sweat the small stuff, or make mountains out of molehills (even though I inevitably do sometimes.) My dad has been absent from my life in recent years, so to me it’s a reminder that it’s his loss, not mine. I have also had things in my life that really stress me out for no reason. That’s where the staying calm through it all comes in! I tend to be slightly dramatic and probably drive people nuts because I have a hard time letting things go. I can keep dredging up the past for days, so in a way this cover also reminds me of my flaws.

Back to the image and design. I found the image, put it into photoshop. I added a text box and chose the font that most looking like my writing. The first time, I went super cliche with “this too shall pass: and other life lessons”. That didn’t really seem to express my individuality as much, so I changed it. Also, I had to kind of move the text around because I couldn’t find a spot for it where it looked readable. I settled on moving it down into the grass part of the picture. This picture was taken on a golf course, which at sunset happen to be the most FUN things around (and if you’ve ever been the Eastern Shore of Virginia, you’d understand that there’s not much else to Ā do at night). Speaking of the ESVA, it’s my hometown and I lived there until I was 11. So the image also is a homage to my past.

No Bullhooi:

I’ve seen this assignment done on internet before, and I always wanted to participate.Ā HoweverĀ  I don’t have any of that fancy-dancy drawing pad stuff with my computer. Therefore I used what I knew I had:Ā FREE CRAP!Ā First I found the image of thermos online, cropped it down with Pixlr, threw the resulting image through GIMP to make it look all artsy and shit, then went back to Pilxr to add theĀ backgroundĀ and text. I realize I could have done it all in one place but hey, I went with what I knew.

If you’ve never seen The JerkĀ do yourself a favor and see some classic Steve Martin. If you don’t know who Steve Martin is, leave this websiteĀ NOW!!!!!!

Four Images= One Film

Design Assignment Count: 3

Okay then let’s start with the imgae:

Now while you ponder it let me pontificate about how I made thisĀ assignment. At first I wanted to make the images on my computer, but then I realized I was bad at drawing on a computer, and using clip art would have looked lame in my opinion. In the end I decided to just free hand it, and scan the image onto my computer. While this makes the finished product not look as clean as some of the others I kind of like the human element hand drawn imagesĀ evoke.

The trickiest part for me was picking a movie. I’ve said multiple times on this website I love theĀ conceptĀ of story reduction. Love it. Can’t emphasize that enough. Once you figure out what movie this is, you’ll probably get a little chuckle. Guesses go in comments. On Monday I’ll announce the winner. HIIOOOOOO!!!

Radio Show Poster

Radio Show Poster

Our theme for our radio show is Autumn mixed with Halloween. We will do interview form asking people of there experiences during this time of year. Any cool stories or Halloween jokes, etc. I used the program artweaver, and chose several images off google. I picked an autumn leaves background, carved pumpkins, pumpkin beer, and a halloween joke. I turned the autumn leaves to grayscale and added a splash of color to two of the leaves. then I added in the pumpkins and lowered the opacity to blend into the autumn leaves. After that I added a halloween joke as a text on the leaves. Lastly I added the pumpkin beer and also lowered the opacity and rotated them a little.

My Dreams

My dream is to become a business woman and serve my country. Similarly, I really wish to go to Egypt and see the ancient pyramids. I love driving, even though I have my driving license in my country but I cannot drive because of the security issues for women. Thus, my dream is to be able to drive in my country. I downloaded these photos from Google; I used PhotoScape which is photo editing software. PhotoScape can be downloaded for free; it is very clear and easy to use.
