Audio Assignments

Based on 1-Quote-A-Day Project!!

_cokwr: First of all, see this following link (assignment introduced by mome). http://ds106.us/2011/10/16/1-quote-a-day/ Quotes could be nice only by its own, but it might go further when it went beyond written words. Read your quote for a day out loud, and record it! Do not forget to give an appropriate feeling to it. Tone of voice could be a helpful hint for answerers to guess where your quote came from. Mimicking the original tone could be nice enough, but you also can add your own feelings to it as well. :), _cpzh4: Audio, _cre1l: http://morita-tuj.blogspot.com/2011/11/based-on-1qad-part12-soundcloud-direct.html, _chk2m: Rimi 'Kookaburra' Morita, _ciyn3: 210, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

SongStory

_cokwr: My memories fade over time, but sometimes there is a song that can take me back to a place that revives the memories of my past. The song allows me to remember things I thought I had forgotten. So, for an assignment, pick a song that does that for you, and tell some stories about what you remember. An example for me would be to pick a song off of the Journey "Escape" album, and talk about the summer job I had cutting the grass for my high school the summer before my senior year. The smells, the grease, the noise, the sunburn, the boredom, the friends. In the assignment you might want to mix your voice over parts of the song, give an intro, tell the story first and play the song, break up the song with the story - lots of options. But nothing too long - my attention span is short. These would be great to post on ds106 radio., _cpzh4: Audio, _chk2m: Jerry, _ciyn3: 75, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

Celebrity Radio Interview

_cokwr: You may have seen parodies in which the camera cuts between an interviewee in a real interview and a fake interviewer, for example The Soup's interview with Miley Cyrus about being a vampire (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldNycG-IATY). The nice thing about doing this with audio rather than video is that you're not restricted to using responses from a single interview since you don't have to worry about making it look real. Record yourself asking questions to someone famous, then use audio clips of the celebrity from real interviews as the responses., _cpzh4: Audio, _chk2m: Matt Martin, _ciyn3: 95, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

A Life in Two Minutes

_cokwr: Create a 2 minute audio story inspired by the "My Life is True" series produced by KQED of Northern California. KQED works with people "to explain, in their own words, a significant moment or stubborn problem." Work with a friend or tell a story about yourself that describes such a moment or problem. Be sure to keep it at two minutes or less! Thanks to GNA Garcia for posting a link to this awesome site on Twitter and inspiring assignment ideas for DS106., _cpzh4: Audio, _cre1l: http://www.mylifeistrue.org/, _chk2m: Michael Branson Smith, _ciyn3: 184, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

Multipersonality

_cokwr: For this audio assignment, pretend that you are three to four persons having a regular conversation. Pick any scenario that you are comfortable with but make it convincing that there are different people within the conversation. ie: at the dinner table you have a little girl, a hick father, with an Asian mother talking to each other: create those voices. and HAVE FUN with it!, _cpzh4: Audio, _chk2m: anagahama, _ciyn3: 91, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

The Contest Nobody Could Win

_cokwr: Take six very short fragments (less than one second each) from six different songs and ensemble them into a single piece. Expect others to guess which six songs you have used. Basic rules: 1) do not repeat songs 2) do not use covers (unless the cover is much better than the original, sh*t happens) 3) John Cage's 4'33'' is not a song!!! , _cpzh4: Audio, _cre1l: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxxEab7nHfE, _chk2m: procsilas, _ciyn3: 89, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

One Question

_cokwr: Take one open ended question. Ask a bunch of people. Mix and compile. This could be video or audio only. Example here., _cpzh4: Audio, _cre1l: http://fiftypeopleonequestion.com/films/3-brooklyn-ny, _chk2m: Tom, _ciyn3: 85, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:
