Create your own Kuleshev effect demonstration by putting together 4 clips a la the way Alfred Hitchcock describes it The clips should be: (1) a medium or close-up shot of a person looking at the camera with no or subtle emotion (x2) (2) object of emotional response 1 (woman and baby in Hitchcock clip) (3) another object of emotional response 2 (woman in bikini in Hitchcock clip) Edit them together, and add in some music or sound to complete the effect.

Create, edit, and submit a video tutorial for the creation process for one of your ds106 assignments. From start to finish, include any interesting bits of information, why you selected some of the artifacts used in the assignment, and any other interesting bits of information about equipment or the process that people might need to know. Bonus points for including family members in the video! http://vimeo.com/29935341

Take a classic movie (or heck any movie you like), and rescript the audio of a key scene. You will want to re-write the lines to change the meaning or intent of the scene, delete the original audio, and record your own (this can be done many ways, voiceover in iMovie, recording the audio and editing the track in any other movie editor). For my example, I took Howard Beale's on camera rampage from "Network", and changed it to a diatribe on being bored in school.

Recreate (or make your own!) scene from a horror movie. Whether you recreate the "Hereee's Johnny!" scene from The Shining or create a new idea all together is up to you.

Take any real life video and give us a play by play commentary on what we see. It can be a sports event, funny video or videogame gameplay. Make it funny, make it real, make it anything you want to be. Lets hear what you have to say about the game! In this example a not so impressive player tells us what he does in a video game

Use CamStudio, Fraps, or another screen capturing software to get footage of something you do on your computer that tells a story. A few minutes of gameplay is a good example or narrating a process.

Kinetic typography ("moving text") is an animation technique that allows a creative entrepreneur to mix text and motion. Your job is to take a speech or bit of dialog (try audiobooks, movies, TV shows, etc.) and animate it like this example from Sherlock Holmes. Consider how you could visually enforce the speech's underlying themes... or subvert them. Be creative! Here is an example of ds106's own timmmmboy's (Tim Owens): http://vimeo.com/19136539

This one is simple. Just find something around the house that you enjoy using, find helpful on a day-to-day basis, or even something that you own but don't find worth the money you payed for it. Once you have your item, record yourself giving a product review. Be thorough, don't just skim the surface with general comments. Show us how the item works, what it's used for, what it's features are, what you think of it, etc. See this example
