Quote with a New Feeling

Here I have attached a anonymous quote with my favorite song at the moment called “Believe” by the band Romes.

Enjoy below!

Quote with a New Feeling

Most people have a favorite quote or saying that they know, use that and record yourself speaking it using programs like (audacity, garage band, etc..). After that mash up your audio recording with a sounds, song, or instrumental in the background too better explain the feeling that this quote or saying has on you.

Tense Feeling

I remember when I was in high school watching The Handmaid’s Tale and I heard this quote. This quote really hit me because of its meaning. Better never means better for everyone. It always means worse for some. And this can be related to everyday life. You can’t make everyone happy. You can try but you won’t be successful. Culture and society are created by different beliefs, politics, and viewpoints. You can’t have Democratic ideologies and Republican ideologies. As an influencer, celebrity, president, or anything else you will have beliefs that others will be against. The song, One Last Time, from Bad Boys for Life, is one of my favorite sounds from the movie. It’s very suspenseful and tense. For this assignment, Quote with a New Feeling, I used Voice memos from my phone to record the quote. I converted it from m4a to mp3 using an Online Audio Converter. I downloaded this song from Documents and then added it to my Google Drive. After that, I imported it to Audacity. I added the two tracks together, cut the sound to make it match with my quote, and then exported it.

Jazzing Up a Quote

For my last assignment I decided to choose one called “Quote With A New Feeling”. For this assignment we were challenged to take a quote and pair it with a song in the background. I wanted to make this 80’s theme to fit our class. I chose the quote “To me, obligation is not love. Letting someone be open, honest, and free — that’s love. It’s got to come natural and it’s got to be real” by Dolly Parton. I thought the best song to pair this with was the 1987 hit I Wanna Dance With Somebody by Whitney Houston. This process was fairly simple! I used garage band to input my song and then recorded my voice on top of it. Here is the final product:

New York, Rhode Island, and Cape Cod Oh My!

I love photography, more so I love the stories they tell. This week we are tasked with completing 12 stars of visual assignments. That being said I decided to start with a four and a half star assignment called story map.

This assignment asked…

Using Knightlab’s Story Map, create a map telling a story of a trip you took or would like to take. Include pictures. They can be your own, or from flickr (just give them credit).

Before I get into the nitty gritty of the story map I created I first want to say that I love how this assignment allows for individuals to tell a specific story through essentially the use of pictures.

The instructions for this assignment said to use Knightlab’s Story Map. This is a website where you can easily create interactive maps. When creating your map you can import photos, headlines, captions, stories, and more. The best thing about this site is that it is super user friendly being so simple to work. I have had to create other maps for previous classes with this application so when the assignment asked for me to use this I was more than thrilled due to my experience.

I decided to tell a story of a trip I took. Ultimately I was brainstorming a vacation where I traveled to several places, by doing so it would make my map more interesting to look at. If there were limited locations it would certainly be boring. However I have never been out of the country and I believed a trip like that would be great to document due to all the different places people usually go.

After some thought I decided to map my family trip up north to the New England area this past summer. I figured this would be best because of the numerous places I went while traveling. So with that I created a map telling the story of my trip to New York City, Providence and Newport Rhode Island, and Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

The map I created titled “New York, Rhode Island, and Cape Cod Oh My!” is one that tells a story of a small piece of my Summer. I mapped out a total of ten different locations. With each location I attached a photo and an explanation of what occurred, what was seen, done etc. I ultimately wanted viewers to be able to experience my trip even though they weren’t on it with me.

This type of visual story is effective in my opinion because of the realness that comes with it. It’s an interactive way to immerse yourself in something and in some peoples cases possibly get lost in what you’re doing. While I was creating this map I was taken back to my trip, reliving every moment, almost feeling as if I was back up north again.

Once I finished I thought to myself this would be something really cool to show my family who took the trip with me. I feel as if they’d appreciate it as it would in some ways serve as a memory album of our time spent together. My biggest take away from this assignment is that photos indeed do tell stories whether it’s the photos I attached in my specific map or the map itself. While words serve as a great purpose in storytelling, photos act as voiceless stories, still just as effective.

ds106 #4 ; 1 Quote a Day

Here is a conclusion which I got recently.

“If one feel happy or satisfied, another one must feel unhappy or dissatisfied.”
Yusuke K

I found this in complicated situation. But I cannot talk about that here, sorry.

Everybody should have chances to feel this feelings, but they do not want to recognize this.

1 Quote A Day: Writing Assignment

This assignment is 1 Quote a Day by mome.
This is the description:

Quotes are awesome. They recall a time, a trend or can identify you with a certain group. Type up a simple line/quote/text-based meme today without divulging the source (or completing the quote). People who recognize the line can respond in the comments!

As mome says in the description, quotes are great and they help remembering the happenings of the day.

I was soooo happy today.

Why??

I got a call from one of my friends. I have not talk to her for a long time since she lives in Niigata where it is a little far from Tokyo and we both are pretty busy.

She called me for no reason, but said to me that she was wearing the pierced earrings which we bought them together a few years ago. And that reminded her of me and wanting to call.

To my surprise, I was wearing the same pierced earrings and thinking of her on the day. Actually,  I lost the earrings few months ago and just found them under the desk last night!!

We talked on the phone for 4 hours (!!!) because we have not talked for ages and we both had lots and lots of things to talk about :D Many things changed since we met last time, she got a new hairstyle, changed her job, living in a new apartment, etc… It was really nice to talk to her (even though I had class from 8:00am next day and we were chatting till 4:00 am… but if i had no class, i think we talked longer…!!)

Recently, I have been pretty busy and stressed out to be honest, but a call from her really cheered me up :)
She made me to realize that there is a happiness all around. People often look for only special things or events make them happy. But true happiness is everywhere in ordinary days. It’s the matter of whether you can realize and appreciate it. Like Mai quotes the similar idea in her blog :)

After 3.11, the Great East Japan Earthquake, I think everyone are feeling the same way.

So here’s my 1 Quote a Day for today

“So easy to forget our love the little things we do like calling for no reason just to say the words I love you.”

(((?))) <3

Here’s how I did this assignment:
I took a picture of the earrings with my iphone and uploaded to Flickr. Then I editted the photo with Aviary ( this is my favorite app- it’s pretty easy to use it and useful! ). And embeded the photo here.
This is how I editted my photo :)

?
For the image of the quote, I searched with GoogleImage. Then put the quote and changed the font size, color, and style. It was a simple assignment but I really enjoyed doing it.

Hope you can figure it out who wrote this :)

It is one of my favorite songs. ?

What Does A Happy Accident Sound Like?

As someone who is quite inexperienced with audio manipulation software, this assignment was certainly going to be challenging. Despite the challenge ahead of me, I was able to very quickly think of a quote I love and a song that matches the tone of the message. This may be completely subjective, but there is something special about the pairing of an upbeat song that makes you happy to be alive and a classic Bob Ross quote, allowing you to drift away from reality for a moment and coast across an ethereal plain.

To help emphasize this idea of ascension and providing an “other worldly feeling,” I wanted to dot his voice throughout the music section as almost an echo. Thankfully, this was quite easy to piece together. It took a bit of messing around with Audacity’s tools, but by lowering the volume on some segments and allowing the music to fade in behind his voice, I feel like I was able to create basically exactly what I set out to make.
