Spooky Dialogue

Create a track of surreal or scary dialogue.  Use an audio editing program like Audacity to record your voice, then layer it with distortions, speed changes, other sounds, or anything else you can think of.  The idea is to make yourself sound like something otherworldly.

3D Magazine Collage

Take some of your old magazines and newspapers and create a 2D or 3D collage/sculpture of words and pictures that represent a common theme (ex: color, media subject such as animals or food, things you like, etc.). Explain why you chose your theme and what some of the individual pieces mean to you.

Extra Extra read all about it

Since almost every college student has access to a TV or netflix, for this assignment you’re gonna to watch tv (yes). Watch any show of your choosing that is atleast 30 min along. Note their acting skills, what their wearing (bright clothes, dull clothes, name brand).. how many extras did the show have? did any of them talk? what age were they?

Cinemagraph Dat!

Cinemagraphs have to be some of the coolest gif out there. Take a picture of anything and edit it so that there is one thing within the picture that is moving or take a video and edit it so that there is only one thing moving in the scene. Cinemagraphs are known for their subtle motion so make it as the movement as subtle as possible.

Instagram is done…DESCRIBE your lunch to me!

Skip the filters and the art of cropping–we are going old school…..DESCRIBE your (or your character’s) lunches! So whatever it is you’re eating or ate earlier, or would love to eat, describe it! Don’t be afraid to be silly, and don’t skimp on the details. What color is it? What does it taste like? What does it remind you of? If you make it into a poem–that would be even better!

Show Me How!

Using a GoPro or a time lapse app; explain something to us. For instance, you could show us how you or your character cooks for their family, what they do at work, or even as zany as how they do their makeup! Make it funny, make it emotional–make it anything you want it to be! Have fun with it!

Sweet Message

Create a video for someone special in your life and add music to it. Use YouTube or any of the video sites to upload it. First, video tape yourself saying a message about the person your talking about. Let your feeling out, tell them how you feel about them or that your happy about being with them. Second, put music to it. This should be about 3 or so minutes long, nothing major. You combin video, writing and audio.

Classical-Modern Mashup

Ingredients:

1 piece of classical music

1 modern music video

How to make:

First, strip or mute the music out of the modern music video. Then layer the classic music on top.

Voila! Some hopefully hilarious, weirdly sexual classical-modern mashup.

Inspired by Beyonce Dances to Shostokovich.
