radio

Now that we have a #ds106 radio up and running creating a 15 to 30 second bumper for the station. What is a bumper? It is a short recording that identifies the radio station with signature music or an expression that makes sure the listeners know what they are tuned into (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bumper_(broadcasting)). So for ds106 it should certainly include "DS106 Radio" and some sort of message about the station with voice over music.

For the DS106 radio show, each group member was tasked with creating their own radio bumper.  For my submission, I wanted to try my best to capture the essence of what I intended the show to be: a retelling of important historical events from one’s own perspective.  The first two …

Building my Audacity Friendship

For the audio assignment Create a DS106 Radio Bumper (1.5 stars) I used Audacity to upload, mix, and edit several recorded clips. To begin this assignment, I asked two of my roommates to allow me to record them saying “DS106″. On Audacity I recorded myself saying …

Sailing into Ds106 Radio

I learned a lot this week by working on audio stories. Mainly how perfectionism and indecisiveness do not work well together, but I learned some other things, too.

Bump it Up!

The other audio assignment ever was to create a radio bumper for our DS 106 radio show. A bumper is a 10-30 second pause between a commerical break and a program. You know, the things that play on your favorite radio station that go something like “back to the music …

Radio Bumper

I was really nervous for this assignment–just like the last one–but once I got going it was really easy–also like the last one.  I just used an O.A.R song I had in my iTunes, loaded it directly into Audacity, cut to the beginning (there were no words.  Tried using the vocal remover but it didn’t work very well), and then recorded my voice on a separate track, mashed the two together, and that was pretty much it. …

Fall into Autumn: A ds106 Radio bumper

I’ve already done a radio bumper for the radio bumper assignment, but this was the one for our radio show. I like this one better because it is “themed.” I can’t find the original sounds from freesound, of course. But the first one you hear is the crunching of leaves.…

DS 106 Radio Bumper

The theme for our group radio show is Halloween therefore I chose to use horror sound effects for my radio bumper. AHHHHH! Okay, so I’m way excited!!

Can’t Fight The Feeling

Put the bumpers up!

For my DS106 Radio bumper I had to do something hockey related. I couldn’t not do something hockey related. I’m just so sad there is not going to be a hockey season *sobs*.

Radio Bumper

So this bumper was pretty easy to create. I mashed up myself saying “ds106 radio”, “Clubbed to Death” by Rob Dougan, and some crazy radio static, just not exactly in that order. The beauty of audacity is that you can layer these things and play with your own recordings. I…

Bumper Time
