This is my second remix assignment of the week. I decided to do GIFs because these assignments are relatively low stakes and tend to make me laugh. This is also why I chose animals doing funny things because I thought it would be a good break from all the audio and video editing. As soon as I saw the remix calculator give me prequel, I wanted to do Star Wars theme but the mixer specifically said nothing about Jar Jar Binks. So here we are with the main GIF being the dog hitting his pillow mad at the world. I instantly thought about getting grounded and being sent to your room and being mad at yourself and the entire world. So for my prequel GIF, the dog is being sent to his room by his aunts. I used this GIF because Sabrina The Teenage Witch is like one of my favorite shows ever. Here are the GIFs below:

I was tasked with finding videos of animals doing funny things and converting them to a GIF for this assignment. The process was simple once I found a good source for some videos.

I started by using a program called youtube-dl, but I was unsuccessful with that method. YouTube makes it a bit hard to download their videos, it seems. So the next step was to try and find a reliable source to download some animal videos.

I found this great source. They have lots of stock photos and videos for free. The next step was to find a GIF converting program, I had some luck with this site in the past, and it proved to be pretty quick. I have found that compressing the GIF if you are going to host the image on your website is a good step.

Here are some of the sites I used for that.

• This is an excellent site (it takes regular size files)
• This one takes a little bigger size files
• This one takes a gigantic file

I noticed that some of the videos I converted to GIFs ended up rather large. Do not be afraid to run the GIF through multiple converters; however, this will lower the video quality. As an alternative, this is an excellent site to host your GIFs then you can use the URL to link to your post!

I saw this assignment and immediately knew I wanted to do it. A little over a year ago my brother and his fiancé got a little puppy, Arrow. It was in the middle of the pandemic and it was honestly the best thing that could have happened. Everyone in my family instantly fell in love with him, even my Dad who claims he does not like dogs. Arrow is very crazy. Every time my brother came to visit we would all sit outside for hours running around with him. I looked back at all my videos of him and I thought this was the funniest. He is full of energy until he is not and he just wants us to drag him around.

This is me when I am finally done having to watch Bob Ross. He’s a cool guy and all, but still not my cup of tea.

For the first remix assignment I decided to do this one http://remix.ds106.us/generator/?aid=59304. Originally it was to find a gif of an animal doing funny thigns but i chose to do one of an animal doing human like things. The remix part of it was to put country music in the background of it. This assignment was hard because I didn’t know how to add music to a gif. What I ended up doing was pulling up youtube in one tab and then in the other going to giphy.com and finding a gif of a dog doing a human like action.

I then played the music in the background from the youtube video which was Florida Georgia Line’s – Cruise, which i picked because its pretty popular. In the other tab I played the gif and screen recorded it so that would be the background music. Here is the finished product which I uploaded to vimeo.

For my last assignment from the assignment bank this week I chose an AnimatedGIF assignment. I chose to make a gif of an animal doing something funny. I knew right off the bat I wanted to make a gif with a dog in it because dogs are my favorite animals. In order to create my gif, I first had to find a video I wanted to use so I looked on YouTube at a bunch of different dog videos until I found one I liked the most. Then I uploaded it to Giphy and it did the rest of the work for me! I am really happy how it turned out and it makes me laugh every time I see it.

For this week, we had to give a try at animating Gifs! For my first assignment, I decided to try out Animals Doing Funny Things, and found this cip of this adorable bunny playing around in some leaves on YouTube!

This was a simple, quick, and easy Gif assignment to create and I am excited to create more like it!
