Return of the Bunhead: A new logo

 ON NOW (1)

3 stars

For the final design assignment of this week, I decided to make a logo for my site. I’m a fan of more minimalist design, so I may not necessary use this logo on the site, but it’s a good skill to have.

Secret confession: I love making logos. I’ve done a lot of blog header designs, including the logos for Literally, Darling and the Blue & Gray Press. You could say it’s a little bit of an obsession.

For this logo, I tried to take it in a bit more of a fun direction. I pulled the bun image that I made in the first week for a Daily Create, and applied new text using photoshop. It’s a little girly for me, but I like it! I would probably use this on my site at some point, as I feel like it is an accurate representation of me. I already rambled nonstop about how much I love wearing my hair in a bun, and my twitter handle is even @bigbundarling. Fitting, right?

This brings me up to the required 15 stars for this week, and currently I’m feeling really good about my design projects. It’s something I enjoy doing, so I feel like that is reflected in my work a lot more this week.

My New Logo

For this assignment I was very nervous. The assignment itself was easy enough but for me finding any type of editing software normally takes me hours. Fortunately, this time, it took me less than a half hour. I used this very simple and neat site called Hipster Logo(link). All you have to do is type in your logo/ name and you are able to pick the font, image, and how you want your logo displayed. The options are limited but for me it is exactly what I wanted. I personally do not care for anything loud or obnoxious. My favorite logos are simple and sleek with a neutral image. That is what I created for myself. Black and white never goes out of style, and I wanted a elegant font that people could still read. I got all of those things with this logo. I also was able to add an image to make it a little more exciting while still retaining its simplicity.

Designing a new logo

cropped-COFFEE.png

For the first assignment of the week I decided to create a new logo for my site. After this class I have thought about making this blog into something more than just a school assignment. If I were to have a blog in the future I would want to name it “Apartment 1A” or “Apt. 1A” for short.

I had fun including some personal touches to the top of my blog. I am obsessed with flowers and floral prints so this really makes my blog more personal. I like the light and airy colors. For the design I used a simple online design program. Making designs on the website is even more simple than Photoshop. Below is a picture of what my design looked like in the program.

I tried to use good color in this design. When I was designing it I tried to keep in my mind my audience. If I were to continue this blog my audience would probably be more women. I used pinks, green, and blue to pull the design together. I think that the pink I chose for the logo is a good fit because it compliments the logo while still popping and allowing you to see the contrast in the foreground and background.

Wallet Logo

Here is the logo I made for a fake wallet design company.

The Website Logo For A Hot Crazy Mess

The website logo I created for A Hot Crazy Mess using a photo collage app on my phone and put as the header on my website.

Burning In The Skies

So this idea came to me pretty quick, I thought hey why not do the name of my site look like they were on fire since it had word burning in it and ended up using photoshop for the whole process. Then the background I used a picture I took over the summmer.

“It’s Like We’ve Been Content With Losing”

For one of the assignments on the ds106 page I decided to create a banner for my web page. I loved this assignment. I think all of the colors flow and everything comes together nicely.

Website Logo

For  my second assignment of the week, I created a new logo for the top image for my blog. This was an assignment that I had wanted to do anyways because I was using one of the wordpress pictures, which was boring. I picked one of my favorite colors, but hopefully kept it with the general warm color scheme of the blog. I also learned how to draw guinea pigs on photoshop, and I colored him in to look like one of my guineas, Arthur.

Website Logo

Use an image editing software to create a logo for your webpage. The logo should have some type of text involving the name of your website. Try to remember how things like rhythm, color, and texture, can be used effectively when you create the logo. Add the logo to your webpage. If your Web site’s theme allows it, you can add the logo to the page under “customize” in the Themes tab.
