Colton is Ready for His Closeup

Are you really surprised I brought my dog into this? I mean, have you seen the dog’s eyes? YOU CAN’T SAY NO.

I decided to use this photo I took of Colton earlier this week while I was having apples and peanut butter. Can you tell he likes peanut butter?

He wants it

I wanted to create my idea of what Colton dreams about all day long. Colton has a list of his favorite things. Among those are chicken, peanut butter, cheese, dog treats, and paper bags (he doesn’t eat them, he just rips them apart). I found some cute graphics of these things online and using Paint 3D, made them all into stickers. I did the same with Colton’s face. After adding in the background, this visualization of his dreams was set.

Introducing, Colton’s most perfect dream.

I in heaven

I’m Ready For My Closeup

mashup ***** four and a half stars

This was a mashup assignment that was worth 4.5 stars. For the assignment I needed to take a closeup of someone and add a background to it. I chose to take a closeup picture of my boyfriend and added an alien as the background. I then added the face time buttons at the bottom to make it look like they were calling each other. I used canva to make this picture and I got the alien and FaceTime buttons off of google. To get rid of the background in the picture of my boyfriend I used a background remover website.

I’m Ready for My Closeup – Remix

So I decided to remix the “I’m Ready for My Closeup” mashup assignment where you “take a dramatic closeup of anyone’s face – an actor’s, a friend’s, your own – and superimpose a landscape or scene over the face. Since this is a mashup, get crazy with it. Take two completely unrelated images and put them together, then try to make a story out of it!” Instead of making a story out of it, I decided to make it look like a player vs. player screen from a fighting game. I used images of Puss in Boots pointing from Shrek and Leonardo DiCaprio’s character Hugh Glass from The Revenant. I used photoshop to superimpose both images on the background of a Bob Ross painting which substitutes for the fighting arena in fighting games. I even added the cool “vs” image/logo to make it look closer to the actual style.

I’m ready for my close up…

These was really funny to create because I ended up going down a rabbit hole of celebrity memes. This assignment was to pick a celebrity close up and then add it to the background of a unrelated feelings. To get things started I google “celebrity close up funny” and I scrolled and scrolled. I came across my favorite one, which is Kim K crying. I saved this picture photoshopped it so that it was just her face then I had to decide what to put the background as. Since she is crying and the background has to be unrelated I went for something that was not scary or sad. I picked a fish and then downloaded that picture and placed the Kim K picture over top. I thought the fish would be something she would actually cry over. I enjoyed this assignment. I didn’t have any trouble making overlapping or picking pictures.

Care Bears?!

For this assignment I was tasked with taking an actor’s face and putting or superimposing the landscape over the face or however you want to call it. The first thing I thought of was that meme that I always saw with James Van Der Beek’s face. Basically he was about to cry in one scene and I decided to cut out his face from my screenshot and paste it onto the Care Bears tv show front cover. I figure this would have been a great fit due to the Care Bears not having a “Sad” Care Bear. Yes, there is a Grumpy Care Bear but there is not just a sad one. Typically when you see care Bears, you think of happiness and colorful but then you add someone with a sad expression on the front cover and it just looks ridiculous to me. However, let me know what you think of this!

Close-Up Fun! [???? and a half]

Alright, this challenge was a lot of fun too!

Instead of using GIMP (I detest it so much), I used…Snapchat!

This is a combination of two of my favorite things: Johnny Rose from Schitt’s Creek and an adorable dachshund ?

Details of the challenge can be found below:

Sadcat Superimposition

When you finish a really good video game and you don’t know what to do with yourself

This is a 4.5 star mashup assignment where you have to superimpose images over another one. Personally, I can’t take superimposed photos seriously. They all look like memes. So I made a meme.

I took the final screen you see in one of my favorite video games, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild first. It’s meant to symbolize the general feeling of completing a game, and this was the first one to come to mind. There’s a general feeling of emptiness and satisfaction when you beat a really long video game, so I made this silly picture to go with it. I put the photo in an online photo editor first.

Then, I added layers with more images. I picked photos of edited “sad cats” which are just cats with sad watery eyes on them and lowered the opacity to superimpose them on top of the landscape.

My mini story is the meme caption I wrote above! It sums up what it’s like to finish a game in an image.

Dear McDonalds… Get it Together

One of this week’s mashup assignments tasked me to take a dramatic closeup of anyone’s face and superimpose an unrelated landscape or scene over the face.

I’m going to be honest with you all…when I first read this assignment description, I immediately decided I wasn’t going to do it. Photoshop and photo editing is probably one of the things that I feel most uncomfortable about. And since this assignment was photoshop heavy, I decided against trying it.

However, I couldn’t help but look at past class examples which were so entertaining and funny, I really wanted to make my own. So, instead of giving into my lack of confidence, I decided to go for it and try this assignment!

The first part of this assignment was to come up with the two images to use. I have been super stressed out lately, and to cheer me up my mom has been sending me the Kim Kardashian crying meltdown memes. I decided that because I have seen so much of her meme face that I wanted to use it for part of this assignment. But I still needed to come up with a second image…

As I was driving back to m y house from class, I saw the inspiration for my ‘landscape’ photo in the shape of two golden arches.

And now, a quick story:

We have all been there…

You are doing homeowrk or watching a movie late at night and suddenly a craving hits you. You want ice cream. But not just any ice cream… you want the creamiest soft serve ice cream with swirls of oreo or m&ms mixed in. And you want it for a price that wont bust your budget.

So what do you do? You head to McDonalds to get a McFlurry!

Only one small issue….THE MCFLURRY MACHINES ARE ALWAYS BROKEN!!!

A broken McFlurry machine is an appropriate landscape for a Kim K meltdown in my opinion, so I decided that these two images would be perfect for this assignment!

And here it is…

While I was very nervous to complete this assignment, it was actually a lot easier than I expected. I think the main concern I had for this task was that I didn’t have access to a photo editing software I felt comfortable using. When I have to edit photos, I usually use Adobe Photoshop. However, my laptop for some reason has decided it no longer likes Photoshop and wont open it (unrelated but if anyone is a photoshop/HP wizard hit me up I could use some help…).

Luckily, some former classmates who had completed this assignment previously had some great ideas of places where I can edit photos!

That’s how I discovered Pixlr.com!

If anyone has trouble editing photos, I HIGHLY recommend Pixlr. Pixlr is a free website where you can easily upload and edit multiple images at a time. Using Pixlr, I uploaded the three images I needed (Kim K crying, a McFlurry machine, and an out of order sign) and begun editing them. Using the layers function, I overlapped the Kim K crying and out of order images and cut them using a lasso tool. Once they were cut out, I was able to move them on the original photo so that it looked like one photo!

I am really happy I decided to do this assignment. It was a lot of fun and honestly opened my eyes to a new photo editing site that is really easy to use, which I can see being helpful to have in the future.

Huh?

For this assignment for 4  and a half stars, I created a picture off fo photoshop of a woman looking confused, and a chalkboard behind her stating that 1+1=2. I used the eraser tool on photoshop, so the original orange background is still surrounding it, but oh well.

Home Alone? Roller Coaster?

The next assignment I picked was 4 1/2 stars. This one was also pretty easy and fun.

The assignment was to take a dramatic close-up of an actor in a movie and mash it up to tell a story.

I used (of course) the well known Home Alone surprised picture. I then pair it with a roller coaster with the steepest hill out there. To make the boy from  Home Alone look terrified.

Check it out!

I hope you like it!
