Whoa, bro, is this the future?

Oh.. hello. I didn’t see you there. I was busy playing my nintendo ds gaming system. What? You’ve never heard of such a thing? Is that witch craft?! IS THAT FROM THE GOVERNMENT?!?

why, yes. yes it is.

One of the old flames works for a security agency. He was kind of a big deal, but I weaseled this tech out of him. I have to keep it under lock and key, though. He said that it wasn’t set to release till some ridiculous date in the future… like 2013.

It’s one of my favorite possessions…. mainly because nobody else has it and I shouldn’t have it either.

Whao, bro, is that from the future?

To make this video, I used my webcam and recorded myself going through the features of the ds. Since I set Victoire up to be a brunette and I’m very obviously NOT a brunette, I’m saying that she went blonde to keep undercover in her new environment. Yeah. Let’s roll with that for right now. I threw some editing effects into the video and some background music to keep it lively, and Viola. There you have it.

Although, I ran through this vid the first time realizing halfway through that my ds was out of battery so that was a bummer. I realized it would be super lame if I did a ds vid without actually showing a ds with all the stuff so I had to wait and do it all over again.

boo.

Also, I’m not sure what’s up with my webcam, but it did the stalling thing again. I will try to figure out a way to go around this for the interview project for this week. If it’s getting old for me, I can only imagine what it’s like to watch.

I’m on it!

Video Assignment #2: iPhone Product Review

iphone-5-2012-09-14-600-21

I chose to do the product review video assignment because I do not think I can emphasize enough how important easy, instant, and engaging communication is to my generation these days. The plain and simple fact is: iPhone make life easier. I feel comfortable saying that for many reasons. They eliminate a wide range of chores and errands that would require substantially more effort and time. Instead of making the journey all the way to the bank to deposit money into my account, I can easily do that from the comfort of my bed or, in more urgent situations, I can transfer money into my checking account at the register at any given store.

Not to mention, the iPhone gives us immediate access to weather reports, sporting event scores, the news (I have the CNN app, which I LOVE), popular recipes, an on-the-go camera to capture any moment one may deem picture-worthy, etc.

In all honesty, the iPhone has changed my life. I have spent the majority of my life away from home. I went to boarding school during my teenage years and have lived in an off campus house for most of college. This means I do not get to see my family or my friends from my hometown on a regular basis. My iPhone has made it possible for me to keep in touch with friends and family members scattered all over the globe. When I was in Australia, an American-esqe mixing bowl of nationalities, I met friends that lived in Germany, France, Ireland, Japan, Spain, Italy, Dubai, and many other countries as well. Through iMessaging, Facebook messenger, and apps such as WhatsApp, I can easily communicate with them at any given time, for free! What seems like a $1.99 application, to me, is truly invaluable. I do not underestimate the significance of these methods of instant communication. How else would new media be so popular and possible?!

My Process:

I used the MacBook PhotoBooth application to record my video. I then uploaded my recording to YouTube and properly embedded the URL into this post. I used a vibrant, colored tapestry as my background to give off an aura of modernization, like how the iPhone has modernized accessible and immediate communication between individuals and groups of individuals.

Me doing a video review of the Xbox 360?s Kinect

So I was challenged by this to make a video review of a product I own. I was either suppose to make a review about a product I use everyday or something I regret buying and was not not worth the money. I choose to do a review about the secound one. So here is the video review about the Kinect!

So what do you guys think? Anyone else have a Kinect and disagree with me? For those of you that are wondering, the Kinect costs $109.99. I got it in a bundle so I technically do not know how much I paid for it. I used a mac webcam to record this video and edited in Imovie software. I basically cut out some parts are the start and end of the video that were not relevant/scene that needed to be retaken. This assignment was worth one star.

My Final Video Assignment…Yes!

Title: Product Review

Description: For this assignment I was asked to pick any item around my house that I either enjoy using, find helpful on a day-to-day basis, or even something that you own but don’t find worth the money you payed for it. After picking my item I was then asked to record myself giving a product review. I was asked to show how the item works, what it’s used for, what it’s features are, what you think of it, etc.

Inspiration: Before I buy any product I definitely try to find some sort of review on it! Whether the review comes from a friend, magazine, or internet source I could really care less! I think product reviews are a great asset to consumers world wide. It is a way for us to help one another spend our dollars correctly!

Process: For this assignment I just used my Web Cam on my computer and simply recorded myself giving a review on my earplugs. I then uploaded the video into my blog.

Example: Here are two links to previous examples of this assignment.

Example 1

Example 2

I felt that both of these videos got the point of this assignment across. They showed the item, explained how it worked, showed me how it worked, and told me how they felt about it. I loved how in the second example the alarm clock actually went off! That thing was super loud!

My Video:

Pop Up Note Dispenser

Okay so I decided to do a Product Review, I got a little corny yes. But as I was looking through my desk trying to figure out what to do it on my eyes caught the post-it note dispenser. Call me nerdy… but it is honestly one of the most useful things I’ve come across. Better than notifications on your phone, or virtual post-its on your desktop. I use them all the time for homework, and at work as well. I have some coworkers laugh at me remarking “you know we are in the computer industry, you can type using a keyboard”.

… they just don’t get it is what I think. Nothing makes things stick or helps quite like a post-it note. The dispenser is awesome, always there and handy. Dispensing one at a time- always.

Product Review

This is a review of my iHome, I love this thing besides my computer and cell phone this is probably my most useful object because it wakes me up when I need to get up and it keeps my Ipod charged and I love my music so without it I would be at a loss.

Week 8 Video Production: (My 30-second Documentary Video 3 STAR ASSIGNMENT) & (My Product-Review Video 1 STAR ASSIGNMENT)

Okay, first off I kind of had a hard time editing both videos, because i couldn’t find imovie on my computer, so instead i just used my IPhone 4S to record the 2 videos, and then I uploaded both of them to my youtube account and then edited it on video manager. The first video is called the 30 second documentary where I show my audience how to cook steak fajitas in only 30 seconds, I enjoyed doing this, however it was kind of hard trying to keep it only 30 seconds when teaching someone how to cook something. Overall I enjoyed fooling around with the effects and audio tools, to make the video look more unique. Now, for the second video I had to discuss with everyone a product  that I think is very useful so I chose to talk about my iPhone 4s case which is called the mophie juice pack air and it charges your iPhone automatically inside of the case without having to use your actual iPhone charger, so i know a lot of people will enjoy learning how to use it and may even want to think about purchasing it, i also edited this video using the effects tools on video manager in my youtube account. Hope you guys like it! check it out by clicking on the link! You can only view with the link! Thanks:)!

Chopsticks (product review)

www.youtu.be/w8mBmnvwJ9w

This is a video my team and I made for a FMA class and I thought it fit perfect for a DS106 assignment. The assignment I tagged it to is titled “Product Review” Although it doesnt fully meet the assignments requirements it still gives a comedy style feel for chopsticks, and infomercials. It displays testimonials and it was fun being apart of this shoot.

To start off my team and I got together and discussed what kind of product we wanted to do, originally I thought “chopsticks?? No way!!” But once you get a bunch of people together for a project, thats when the creativity comes out and magic can happen. This video has many mistakes as far as quality and white balance, but we were all beginners in that course so not bad for some newbies. We wrote our storyboard, and watched other infomercials to kind of get a better idea of how we wanted to display our great product. We discussed things like, what makes our product better, or how can we really make this funny at the same time. The editing was very tedious, we had to get every second right when we added the pasmo and suica cards and also the extra, stuff people would get if they would buy our product. Very fun project!

Product Review

_cokwr: This one is simple. Just find something around the house that you enjoy using, find helpful on a day-to-day basis, or even something that you own but don't find worth the money you payed for it. Once you have your item, record yourself giving a product review. Be thorough, don't just skim the surface with general comments. Show us how the item works, what it's used for, what it's features are, what you think of it, etc., _cpzh4: Video, _cre1l: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LW9IQou5xkA, _chk2m: Joe Proffitt, _ciyn3: 154, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:
