“Make a how-to tutorial about something you are good at like a sport or hobby. Add a song that fits and narrate it”!

How To Tutorial

Again, I might have gone a little off-book, but this week was for video, not writing. I chose this assignment because I wanted to do something that related to the story that I want to do for my final project, something to help me uncover more of what is going on.

I started with the idea of this magic and filmed the video. Because I didn’t have a tripod I hung my camera from the bottom of my bed (it’s lofted) with yarn to get the correct perspective.

I recorded the audio and mixed it together, adding all of the glitches and static over it. I am getting very good at manually making glitches, they seem to be a re-occurring theme.

Below is a sneak peek of what my iMove looks like, this is the most I could get to fit on one screen, but there are still nine more layers of audio and two minutes of film that go off the page.

The story I was going for, more like the story I am beginning, was someone explaining how to do magic in a video format. Later I want to expand on this, because the back story is that there is a war on magic happening and the recorder of this video knows that magic is about to be destroyed. At least for now. So he is trying to preserve the magic so that people in the future can learn it. The song at the beginning is a cover-up. I plan to do an assignment later with two people discovering this and it will be their reactions to it and the story continuing on in that way.

***must be 21 years old*****
Since being quarantine at home with my family I have been trying out new drink recipes. One of my favorites that I recently made is a moscow mule. I decided to make a how to video with the ingredients and directions to make a perfect drink. I recorded the process on my iPhone then uploaded the clips to iMovie. I didn’t want the final video to be long but I wanted to make sure I showed every step. After that I uploaded the video to Youtube. Comment if anyone ends up making one and let me know what you think!

Ingredients:
– Vodka
– Ginger beer
– Lime juice

How To Tutorial

For this assignment I decided to make a tutorial on one of my favorite muffin recipes ever: Sweet Potato Chocolate Chip Muffins! It may sound like an add combination but I promise they are super yummy!

I started with setting up my tripod to record what I was doing from above. I wanted to give it the same set up as the “Tasty” videos do. I’ll include one of their videos, which I used for inspiration.

After getting all my stuff set up, I started baking! After I recorded all the clips, I put them all into iMovie and smooshed them together. I then added text over top to give directions and some fun music.

I am super happy with how it turned out and hope you try out my recipe!

PS: This assignment is worth 4 stars..6 more stars for the week!

How to Tutorial: Pool Chlorine Chemistry

I have talked before about how I work and manage a pool, so I decided to do a How To video on how I take my pool readings. So in other words if you have ever been curious on how chlorine is actually measured go ahead and click on the video below.

Jack Teaches How to Pour Beer

This is the how to tutorial assignment worth 3 points.

If you’re not drinking scotch or bourbon, you must be (or better be) drinking beer. More specifically, you’d better be drinking a real beer. Nothing with the word “light” counts here, folks. We’re looking for full-flavored craft brews. Real quantities of hops, malt, and brewer’s yeast, nothing watery and metallic. Look local if you don’t know better. Nowadays though, good beer is everywhere. That’s why we need to learn how to pour em’, to get the full aromas and frothy head that makes a beer look, smell, and taste amazing. Today I’m pouring a Hop Hash-Infused double IPA (India Pale Ale) from Sweetwater Brewery in Georgia. Learn well and enjoy the craft. There’s nothing like a real beer.

This tutorial is of James Black doing James Black things and showing you how to load his service weapon magazine . In the video you will also get an appearance from his brother Jake Black, showing how to drink a beer.

Enjoy!

DIY (How To)

My second video assignment! I chose to do the how to tutorial. I have been making dog toys since I was in middle school, and my dogs as well as everyone I give them to enjoys them so I figured why not use this for my assignment.  It is really simple and fast and so much fun, not to mention a cheap thing that lasts a long time even on the dogs that regularly tear stuff up like my Banditt. I originally was going to video me making one but I figured I would take still shots and mix them with slides to make it easier to understand, and I wanted to have some experience with adding in slides and figuring it how to save them individually because the first video I did I just used Microsoft word and screen-shotted the section and added it as a picture to IMovie (which is an awesome video making tool! I then wanted to add music, but I didn’t want to use a song with lyrics, because that would be too distracting and therefore I googled ones and I learned about copyrighting, because I didn’t want to use anything illegally,  and came across this website that had archives of places you could go and obtain legal music to use in videos such as the kind I was making so it was PERFECT! Here is the site & my workspace:

So once I had all the attributes I needed, I put them all together edited through my photos that I took on my phone and uploaded them to dropbox (I love how its automatic so any picture I take is automatically saved and I don’t have to worry about losing any of therm ever) cropped and edited them then added the slides in the appropriate places and added the music and 1-2-3 just like that all I had to do was finalize it and write this post! I am liking video week so far, but I am dreading how to do the talking to myself video. Anyways here it is!

How to Video

I decided to make a how to video for a gin and tonic since I was making one anyways. Besides the ingredients in the drink, I used iMovie and photobooth to make this video. I’d say this was the most refreshing assignment so far.
