This is the I am me assignment worth 4 1/2 points.
This is an altered version of the song John Wayne Gacy Jr. by Sufjan Stevens. Only the lyrics from the first verse remain from the original song. The rest, even some of the guitar licks, have been changed for this version of the song for myself. I’ve always been struck by the opening lyrics. “My father was a drinker, and my mother cried in bed.” It’s always struck a chord in me, no pun intended of course. Being the writer I am, with the childhood I had, with the father I had, this song resonates greatly. Â Yes, of course, I understand that this song was originally about the notorious, clown-dressing serial killer, John Wayne Gacy. But it concerns his childhood, his upbringing; what made him a monster. It’s something so many of us wonder when we find ourselves to be capable of actions and thoughts we can hardly believe. How did I become this way? How did I become this monster?
I decided to make this video about myself. I don’t know why, but I just had an urge to record something. Its for the most part about what has happened recently in my life. Been out of school for couple months now. I’m currently traveling to California. Its hot and lonely. I miss Ricky already. Hopefully I could get ride from somebody. My video camera is not working properly, so I decided to post so images that represent what I am trying to convey to my “audience”. This whole thing took about an hour to make. Hope you guys enjoy it. If not, at least understand what kind of person I am.
A quick little video that I put together for this 4.5 banana assignment. I definitely didn’t do multiple takes or edit the video in any way. Nope, just all me and my raw talent. One hundred percent.
Anyway- let’s not talk about the video for now. How are you doing? Are you eating enough? Where’s that lovely hunter green jacket you had earlier? Don’t tell me you’ve lost it already. You know, you really should be more responsible.
I had just finished recording the interview that B&B&B&G asked me for, when I realized that I hadn’t introduced myself! I talked for nearly half an hour all about my roots, my likes and dislikes, and who I am as a person! I then put this into iMovie, cut and shortened everything, leaving only a little information to be mysterious. Did it work? I’m mysterious, right?
I then added some music and transitions to make it better. I don’t really know where those last few clips came from- I don’t remember doing any of it, but there are videos…
This assignment was fun. I had to create a video that explained who I am or, well, who Layla Arkwood is. It was very nice filming everything and cutting them together. This was a more relaxed assignment and I actually enjoyed it.
I’m not completely dangerous. I mean, you should really keep your distance but I am like any other person. I pick out my clothes, shrug off my shoes after a long day, dig around in my purse for things, and choose nail polish colors. This is me in the mundane. My mobster side is another story.
I picked this 4.5 star assignment and I did in on the character of George Bozo, he is Barbara Hall’s 1940’s character. Â I read everything I could about George and I made a PowerPoint and converted it to a WMV file so that I could post it on YouTube. Â I picked a song that I thought fit him. Â I like how it turned out.
Here’s another amazing video assignment! One that lets you show all about you and who you are. I chose this one because people tend to judge a book by its cover, meaning people are very judgmental. Â I have always been and will be a country girl, many people take that the wrong way. I love my family and my friends, I am down to earth, patriotic, support our serving military seeing as how I am also a military brat. I love country music and concerts, I am shy but I am very much me and nobody will ever change that. This was a chance for me to tell my story with pictures, videos, music, and very few words. The creative process for me was just figuring out which pictures I wanted to use, all of which are on my Facebook page and then I decided to take screen shots of my Facebook because that is also who I am and I love to keep in touch with my friends and family who live far away. I added some videos taken at various concerts I have gone to to show the joy and fun that music brings me.
I used IMovie and Audio cutter to add my pictures and my slides to as well as to link my custom cut music tracks. I hope people will enjoy this when they see it and that it encourages them to tell their own stories.
For this assignment, I decided to break out my laptop and grab some of my favorite items that described me around the room. Recording was fairly simple since my laptop has a built in microphone and camera. I just used the camera app that was installed and got to recording! Oh, and I also managed to open a couple of windows to add some more light.
I personally wanted to do this one for two main reasons. Firstly, I figured it would be something I could put on the About the Author page. Second, I really wanted to show-off my most recent build! With that in mind, choosing this was no problem. Again, this seemed relatively simple, and I had a fun time making this one.
I am not sure there will ever be enough pictures, videos, music and/or time to show the person I am and the things I like. With that said, I am a person who loves anything and everything and I am always up for trying new things. I am a really outgoing person who loves being in the countryside and I love the beach. I am a huge family person and love sports. All of the pictures I chose to show in my video are all pictures I have taken or that were taken of me and I hope this shows everyone at least some part of the person I am. In ds106, there are a lot of assignments to be done, but I chose I Am Me because I wanted to show people about me and my personality and not just how creative I can be.
I downloaded a video editor called Freemake which is a free software that allows anyone to combine pictures, videos, music and other audio in one video.
The first step when the software finished downloading was to open it up and click on the “add photo” button where I browsed my computer of the pictures I wanted to add to my video.

The seconds step after I add all the photos, I clicked on the “add audio” button which I then chose the song Every Mile a Memory by Dierks Bentley to be the background music in my video.
After choosing the audio, I preceded to click on the convert button at the top of the toolbar, where I chose the option Mp4.
When I clicked on the Mp4 option, a screen popped up where I chose where I wanted to save the video on my computer and then once I had everything set and stone, I clicked “convert” which converts the video to a Mp4 as well as saves it the computer.
I love myself but I am that weird child that loves animals from under the sea and loves to eat them too. I know that sounds weird but its like they taste good what am I supposed to do? Exactly! Well I think that my I am me video has a lot of sea creatures and I have eaten most of them. When I go on vacations I love taking pictures and most of them are fish or underwater animals. I think they are the coolest. In doing this I learned what my favorite animal is a jellyfish! They are so graceful but can be deadly! Just like me hahah just kidding… or am I?  *evil laugh* Back to what I was talking about oh yeah my video I made it from my pictures that I took from Cancun and the Dominican Republic, I used the background music from under the sea the little mermaid and I thought that was fitting from what I have to do. I used windows movie maker to put everything together and I really think that this shows how I am.
Whilst the Fandom Princess was on her annual winter season break from her scholarly estate, she decided that she would stop by some of the local villages on her carriage ride back home and take a look  around at some of their ancient shops.
At one particular town, she stepped inside one dingy looking shop which was particularly cold and made of all cement. She walked up to the shopkeeper and inquired about if they have anything of special value that the Princess could look at and possibly be able to own herself.
The shopkeeper gave her a very curious look, yet she took the Princess behind the shop curtains. What the Princess found there was a tiny little box. It was no bigger than a music box.
“What is this?” the Princess asked the shopkeeper.
“’Tis a magic icebox,” the shopkeeper replied. She opened it and the room instantly was filled with a cold chill.
The Princess shuddered and took the tiny blue box in her right hand. The box was surprisingly warm. She looked inside of it and, although it was tiny, at the very center she could see a small clear cube.
“So this is what’s keeping it so cold?” she asked the shopkeeper, who merely nodded silently.
The princess was intrigued and decided that she would leave the shop with this mystical Ice box. She paid the amount of gold and silver, and hopped back in her carriage, holding the mystical item in her bag, eager to show the King and Queen of one of her new discoveries.
I feel like I have only been waiting for an assignment like this one FOREVER! Seriously, forever. In case y’all haven’t noticed, I kind of like to talk about myself. Moreover, I like to take pictures of myself and like looking into mirrors. What can I say, I’m a Cancer, and we can border on the line of self-absorbed (I’m not THAT bad though, I promise). Anyway, for this video assignment, I decided to do I Am Me, where I got to create a video about yours truly. Oh yeeeeah.
Well, I watched the example video and started to realize that I would need a song to act as my background music. First, I tried thinking about what exactly the anthem of my life would be. How would I choose? But then I figured that maybe it should be a song that I can identify a lot with. One that gets me moving, that I can listen to whether I’m happy or sad. Obviously, Coldplay had to be the answer! I settled on an excerpt from ‘Clocks’ my favorite song by Coldplay.
From there, I spent a HUGE amount of time deciding what exactly I wanted to put in the video. In the end, I decided that I wanted to include the important things that mattered to me: my family/my friends/my home/and just a few of the things that I hold near and dear to me. I had to track down a bunch of old photos of friends and of me and do a Google search for some common pictures that I wanted to include in the video, which took a bit of time, but in the end I think the video came out well
Halfway through, I decided that I wanted to add in some transitions as well, which turned out to be really easy using Window’s Movie Maker. I randomly picked and chose the ones I wanted, which is something that totally fits my personality. I like to mix it up once in a while. Lastly, was making sure that my title slides and words showed on the video, and that was also a success and way easy to do with the Movie Maker. All in all, this project was fun and pretty easy, although time consuming! Check it out:
