This attempt at a GIF here was inspired by the DS106 Visual Assignment, “Where Did All The Soda Go?“. This assignment was fairly easy to do now, and it asked us to create a gif from a hilarious (I think ridiculous) moment in an infomercial. So for this gif I decided to use a the infomercial for the wonderful Hawaii Chair. Just picture yourself in the office in one of these working out and multitasking as well.It just seems like the perfect idea.
To make this gif I used pretty much the same process as before that is demonstrated in Michael Smith’s tutorial for doing gifs. I downloaded the video from YouTube using KeepVid which I like also because you don’t need to install any application on your system to use it, its web-based. Then like with previous gifs open the video which I downloaded in the MP4 format in MPEG stream clip, which allows you to clip or trim out a section of video you want. Then export it as an image sequence in the tiff file format. Then simply open this list of images in GIMP and link all the layers together. What I did which I don’t think Michael included was then to add an animation filter which optimizes to layer for a gif. Then especially if you are working in Windows rather than Mac at home like I am, you export not save the the layers to the gif format and name and place in location you wish.
