Guess My Giff Story

For this assignment, I compiled a bunch of GIFs from giphy.com to tell the story of a popular fairy tell. This assignment was enjoyable and somewhat simple. While trying to tell the story while using the GIFs I wanted to use some that told the story without actually telling you what  story was. Some part were easier than others.
Do you think you can figure this one out? What fairy-tale story are my GIFs telling.

GIF Story

For this assignment (3 stars), I decided to create a GIF story based on a fairytale. I found the GIFs using GIPHY and placed them into my post. I thought about the story and then searched for the various ideas.

I chose the fairytale Goldilocks and the three bears. It was harder than I thought to find GIFs representing each of the stories events. I think the GIFs I found represent the story well but don’t give it away too easily. This was a great way to show online storytelling.

Until next time,

Guess this Grimm Legend in Gifs

For my first assignment week, this one for 3 stars, I had to tell a myth, legend, folktale, or other story using only gifs and post it for everyone to guess which story it’s telling.

This was a very fun assignment which I enjoyed; it reminded me of the previous one I did for design week, which was to tell a story using only 4 simple icons. I love the idea of reducing a story to its main elements, and I found this gif challenge to result in more amusing results. While the icon challenge created more serious results, the nature of gifs results in a more comical version of the story, which easily makes fun of it. Gifs and especially the way we use them on the web to express emotion or funny ideas and stories like this, are a unique and important form of storytelling, in my opinion. I always love gifs.

To complete this assignment, I simply thought of an existing legend I wanted to display, which came easily to me. Then, I searched for my 5 gifs on giphy as suggested in the assignment post, and right clicked to save them to my computer and then upload them as images to this blog post, since linking them here was only working for some of the gifs. The most difficult thing here was choosing the right gifs, especially since I wanted to chose some that were amusing to me.

So, can you guess this legend or tale? How easy was it to guess?

Hint: Think classic Grimm tales.

Guess The Story!!!

This one was really fun! I didn’t know how to post gifs without using twitter so this assignment had a bonus post to twitter haha! I cannot spoil what the story is (I wrote “myth” in my tweets but it really isn’t a myth), but I’ll give a hint: ITS SPOOKY SEASON!

The answer is: shhhhhhhh a secret!

Guess the Story

This is my Guess the Story assignment… you know what to do!

Guess the Story

For this assignment, we had to tell a legend, myth, or folktale in 5 GIFs.

I decided to tell the story of La Llorona because it has been a story that I have been discussing quite a bit in previous posts and for my radio show.

Also, a movie for La Llorona has just been announced!

To create my story, I went to www.gihpy.com and looked for different GIFs that would fit my story. I then linked them to my post. What do you think? Would you have guessed it was La Llorona?

Guess the Story

Use at least five GIFs to tell a myth, folklore, or legend. Add a few hints about what story you are depicting to help people guess. Be creative with the GIFs you find and try to find a lesser known story to tell. It can also make fun the of story. Post the GIF story on your blog and let people guess what the story is.
