The Assignment:

Find some spam. Could be email spam, could be comment spam, whatever you want. Read it aloud. Make it your own. Try to make sense of it or make it more absurd than it already is.

The Process/Story: I don’t really have a story for this, because it’s basically exactly how it was in the sound clip; I opened up my gmail and click Spam, and see it filled with junk like “Photos of elderly Christian Black Mexican singles in YOUR city!!!”

I recorded this clip with the microphone that’s built into my webcam and the open source Audacity software. I used some of Audacity’s built-in filters like echo, change pitch, change tempo, and phaser to make it sound like there were mulitple people reading the subject lines.

The background music is an instrumental version of “Hyadain no Kakakata?Kataomoi – C“, which was the theme song for the relatively recent anime series, Nichijou.
