Jim Groom Animated GIF

Well, it kind of started with The Daily Create tdc1160 which was to make a ransom note to get Jim Groom back. My True Friend David Kernohan made a fake Tina one saying give him animated GIFs to get Jim out. After that, I got Jim and said make more animated GIFs, but these ones of Jim. Plus, I need 10 Jim Groom Animated GIFs before he gets out. I made a Jim Groom Animated GIF to start the kitty* Then I made an assignment of it. So, now you have to make Animated GIFs of Jim Groom

*noircat did you see what I did there?

magazine layout without a computer

The goal of this assignment is to focus on layout and hierarchy of a page. You take a magizine and cut out elements of it and crop and paste them down onto a new page to create your own layout. The example images of the assignment are for single pages, but for this assignment you shoud do a whole spread. Here’s a guide to layout of a magazine spread

Musicless Music Video

Whenever I watch “the making of” behind the scenes footage of a film or tv show it’s always striking to me how the on-set sound is so different from the final mix presented on screen. It’s not surprising when you realize almost all dialogue is re-recorded, innumerable sound effects are added, and emotional music is mapped to the scene all mixed together creating aural perfection.

So I find these ‘musicless music video’ remixes particularly charming and quiet funny for intentionally creating the opposite mix. The sound mixer is trying to re-create the dry onset sound of the performer in the studio. This Britney Spears rubber outfit squeak-fest is such a spot on re-envisioning of the set for Oops! I did it again. And if it’s truthful, the grips and gaffers must of been laughing their asses off!

Create your own musicless music video for a scene in a video of your choice. Use any variety of sound effects that you personally create or find from sites like freesound.org. And remember add room tone, it will make or break the remix!

Dear Diary….

Write a diary entry from your favorite Disney Villain’s perspective. What did the Evil Queen think of the soup today? How’d she react when a nearby kingdom had their brat prince over for a visit? You decide.

Valentine

Create you very own Valentines Day cards. Go ahead and make a funny spoof valentine that would make people laugh! Use at least one image and modify it in some way to create a cool effect. Afterwards, go ahead and send that baby out to people who would get a kick out of it. You can be sentimental if you want to, but funny cards are prefered!

Noir/Pulp Book Cover

Design and execute a Noir106/Pulp dime-store novel book cover. Capture the feel and look of an old paperback set back in the noir times. in case you need some inspiration, here’s what a simple Google Images search has to say on the matter.

A Story In Alphabet

Create a story that uses words that begin with the letters of the alphabet consecutively. For example, A big cat dug eight… But you have to go all the way to the letter Z. Try to make as much sense as possible. Or if you really can’t, then go crazy. Be creative and have fun!

Noir Valentines

In honor of the convergence of Friday the 13th, St. Valentine’s Day and Noir106, and inspired by The Nitrate Diva, here’s a new assignment to try: Design a Noir Valentine card. Incorporate images and quotes from film noir, the noir-er the better.
