Assignment Idea

The Wayback Machine

Based on 1-Quote-A-Day Project!!

_cokwr: First of all, see this following link (assignment introduced by mome). http://ds106.us/2011/10/16/1-quote-a-day/ Quotes could be nice only by its own, but it might go further when it went beyond written words. Read your quote for a day out loud, and record it! Do not forget to give an appropriate feeling to it. Tone of voice could be a helpful hint for answerers to guess where your quote came from. Mimicking the original tone could be nice enough, but you also can add your own feelings to it as well. :), _cpzh4: Audio, _cre1l: http://morita-tuj.blogspot.com/2011/11/based-on-1qad-part12-soundcloud-direct.html, _chk2m: Rimi 'Kookaburra' Morita, _ciyn3: 210, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

Phake Tweets

_cokwr: Use the Twister tool from ClassTools (http://classtools.net/twister/) to generate a series of images representing the voices of past figures if they could express themselves in twitter. Notch it up, and recast a historical event with a new plot line, and notch it up again, but making it a back and forth between two figures (use @person!) - my example is not developed as a fanfic, but should give you an idea of what to do (okay, okay, I will do a real assignment, sigh)., _cpzh4: Fanfic, _cre1l: http://cogdogblog.com/2011/03/17/phake-tweets/, _chk2m: CogDog, _ciyn3: 99, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

Messing with the MacGuffin

Wikipedia defines the MacGuffin as "a plot element that catches the viewers' attention or drives the plot of a work of fiction." For this assignment forever change the plot of a movie, tv show, etc. by changing a single line of dialogue. Put this new line of dialogue below a screen-cap of the moment in the movie you're changing. Credit to Tom Woodward for posting an example of this idea in the #ds106 Twitter stream.

Infographic Life

_cokwr: First, begin by spending a set period of time documenting things about your life. How much coffee are you drinking each day? How many miles do you walk/ride/drive to work/school/bars? You can use http://www.daytum.com to capture this data, or go old school with pen and paper. Now, take inspiration from infographics all over the web, including the Feltron Annual Report, and create something beautiful and interesting from all that data., _cpzh4: Design, _cre1l: http://feltron.com/ar10_04.html, _chk2m: Tim Owens, _ciyn3: 52, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:
