Assignment Idea

Grant Potter’s #ds106 Radio Live Show

_cokwr: Come up with an hour-long, themed show for #ds106 Radio that you both conceptualize and produce, then deliver on-the-air live over. It can be an ongoing show, or a one-time affair., _cpzh4: Audio, _chk2m: Jim Groom, _ciyn3: 38, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

The Contest Nobody Could Win

_cokwr: Take six very short fragments (less than one second each) from six different songs and ensemble them into a single piece. Expect others to guess which six songs you have used. Basic rules: 1) do not repeat songs 2) do not use covers (unless the cover is much better than the original, sh*t happens) 3) John Cage's 4'33'' is not a song!!! , _cpzh4: Audio, _cre1l: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxxEab7nHfE, _chk2m: procsilas, _ciyn3: 89, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

Product Review

_cokwr: This one is simple. Just find something around the house that you enjoy using, find helpful on a day-to-day basis, or even something that you own but don't find worth the money you payed for it. Once you have your item, record yourself giving a product review. Be thorough, don't just skim the surface with general comments. Show us how the item works, what it's used for, what it's features are, what you think of it, etc., _cpzh4: Video, _cre1l: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LW9IQou5xkA, _chk2m: Joe Proffitt, _ciyn3: 154, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

Imag[in]ing the Streets with Google Street View

_cokwr: Read artist Jon Rafman's essay about Google Street view image captures and view his collection of images found on Street View blogs and from his own searching. "The detached gaze of the automated camera can lead to a sense that we are observed simultaneously by everyone and by no one." Find a street view image, post it and the location your blog. Describe why this moment is interesting/important to you., _cpzh4: Visual, _cre1l: http://www.artfagcity.com/2009/08/12/img-mgmt-the-nine-eyes-of-google-street-view/, _chk2m: Michael Branson Smith, _ciyn3: 177, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

SongStory

_cokwr: My memories fade over time, but sometimes there is a song that can take me back to a place that revives the memories of my past. The song allows me to remember things I thought I had forgotten. So, for an assignment, pick a song that does that for you, and tell some stories about what you remember. An example for me would be to pick a song off of the Journey "Escape" album, and talk about the summer job I had cutting the grass for my high school the summer before my senior year. The smells, the grease, the noise, the sunburn, the boredom, the friends. In the assignment you might want to mix your voice over parts of the song, give an intro, tell the story first and play the song, break up the song with the story - lots of options. But nothing too long - my attention span is short. These would be great to post on ds106 radio., _cpzh4: Audio, _chk2m: Jerry, _ciyn3: 75, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

Car Lust

_cokwr: So I wanted to submit a new visual assignment. All of us, most of us anyways, have a dream car. This is a simple assignment. Take a picture, or find a picture on the web of a car that you love. Then, write a description of how that car make you feel. That's it. Short and simple. This combines the visual of a car, with the story telling aspect, of how an object make you feel. , _cpzh4: Visual, _cre1l: http://blog.mg79mkiv.info/?p=239, _chk2m: MG79MKiV, _ciyn3: 123, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

Demotivate yourself!

_cokwr: Demotivational posters have become quite a common and interesting phenomenon on the Internet. Whether actually "demotivational" or simply tongue-in-cheek, create a demotivational poster today! http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/demotivational-posters#.TpqQL96F9tl, _cpzh4: Visual, _cre1l: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rucken/4422063690/, _chk2m: mome, _ciyn3: 191, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

Blogger Fanfic

_cokwr: Write fanfic about your favourite blogger(s). Maybe someone in or around ds106, maybe somebody elsewhere you read regularly. What do they get up to? What are their secret thoughts and dreams? How do they get on with other bloggers? Obviously these stories are likely to be pretty ridiculous, but they should never be any more ridiculous than blogging itself., _cpzh4: Fanfic, _cre1l: http://eduslash.wordpress.com/, _chk2m: Fr Vivian O'blivion, _ciyn3: 151, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

haiku it up

_cokwr: For the writing assignment, take a random Dailyshoot photograph and create a haiku using that image. Let the image inspire you to create a poetic haiku. Don't know what a haiku is? The most common form for Haiku is three short lines. The first line usually contains five (5) syllables, the second line seven (7) syllables, and the third line contains five (5) syllables. Haiku doesn't rhyme., _cpzh4: Writing, _chk2m: anagahama, _ciyn3: 104, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:

Tell me a story

_cokwr: Everything has a story. So, find an item that you have an extreme emotional attachment to, take a picture of it, and tell the story! Convey all the emotion and feeling, and let us know why the item is important to you! , _cpzh4: Writing, _cre1l: http://blog.thecrazyleghero.info/2011/02/22/tell-me-a-story/, _chk2m: Patrick Connelly, _ciyn3: 88, _ckd7g: , _clrrx: , _cztg3:
